New to any kind of painting, I chose water color, not knowing that it is the hardest medium to master :) However Jill makes it easy to follow step by step learning the basics, to thoroughly cover understanding of the tools (paper and brushes) and the medium (pigment, water) we will be experimenting with. I love that I can go over all the videos multiple times to practice. Jill has helped me through paper issues and certain exercises when I had trouble achieving a result. I highly recommend enrolling in all the courses she has to offer.

This is the course I wished I could have taken first when I started my journey into watercolor! If you are a Beginner... Start with this course and what you learn will bump you quickly into intermediate level for any watercolor work you do. If you are like me and have taken many classes, this course will likely give you the foundational knowledge not yet learned in those other courses to bump you up to a better and more satisfying results in your watercolor painting. This course gives the you the in depth knowledge to know the medium and how to work with all its components. You may not have a pretty painting at the end but you will have the basic mastery to paint as many pretty paintings as you want on your own. While I have been able to fumble through on my own and make decent watercolor paintings, this course has given me the base knowledge to actually know what I need to do and how to do it, to paint the paintings. One last thing I'll add is that I really appreciate Jill answering students questions, and often in detail, even after the course has been up for a bit. That has not been my experience in all the Udemy courses I've taken. Many thanks to Jill Poyerd for another exceptional course!

I am a beginner to intermediate painter. I took this class to, of course, get better at painting, but also to "frontload" for any future mistake that I may make and to save time and materials. As I was taking this course, I kept say to myself that it was worth every penny. I learned so much and was able to reflect on and recognize mistakes that I had made and gain an understanding as to why I am making them, which I feel should reinforce the learning and speed skill. I highly recommend both of Jill's classes for those beginning through experienced. Very comprehensive and professionally done and what I feel will be an accelerator to become better at watercolor painting.

Again, a just absolutely brilliant couse by Jill! I can (again;) honestly recommend this course for anybody interessted in learning about watercolours, or for that matter, any water based colours, because the physics of pigment movements etc apply ie as well for acrylic ink. I just watched the whole course, but now I m going to do it again, as soon as I ve got my new equipment, because I now know better why to use proper professinal paints. I ve done some of the excersises with the materials I own, but I can see now clearly, why I ve failed in the past to produce the effects or looks in my paintings. So I m really motivated to try all the excersices again and learn so much more from the experience. I absolutely love the way you present your knowledge and share your experience. Thank you. I have learned so much about the paints in my box and the effects I can create and can see now areas of a painting and how I can create how it looks on paper. I am still very nervous and will redo all the activities because they are such good fun and I intend to have a reference catalogue of techniques and their outcomes, crated by myself using my tools and think this will continue to help build my confidence.

A very comprehensive and clearly presented account of the scientific rationale which underpins the physics of watercolour painting. Many aspiring artists have and will no doubt continue to achieve high artistic standards without such detailed knowledge of what happens when pigment and water interact on a sheet of paper . But, as a scientist myself, I think that the sense of control and understanding I have acquired from this course will add considerably to my overall satisfaction and future achievements in my newfound pastime.

This is an incredibly detailed course, with details and animations of what happens with the paints, water, and brushes. Very enlightening.

I found that this is exactly the course that it says it would be. No more, no less. I've been following the author's YouTube channel and I knew I appreciated the tone and method of the author. Although I am not a novice, I found the information and the presentation useful. The major plus for me is that a lot of the knowledge shared here although familiar to me, was not "arranged" in my head (and practice) systematically, and thus didn't produce consistent results. So this course did just that and saved me a lot of effort and time. I consider that good value for money every time :)

Excellent course that provided a much-needed grounding in watercolor technique. This is all about how paint acts on paper and how to mix it and apply it. I have been doing watercolors for a while without getting the results I wanted. I circled back to this course to get information I should have had in the beginning. I highly recommend if you are serious about learning how to use watercolors.
