The Most Comprehensive Guide To Unity Game Development Vol 2 (Udemy.com)
From Complete Beginner To Professional Game Developer. Learn To Code In C# And Create Stunning Games With Unity
Created by: Awesome Tuts
Last updated July 2021
Our take
Based on the ratings of 54 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in July 2021. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is the second volume in Fahir's Awesome Tuts series, and it is built around three full game projects: Slash Hero, Mad Doctor and Poco The Adventurer. The syllabus shows 109 lectures and about 24 hours, with each game taking between roughly seven and nine and a half hours. The description says it skips C# and Unity basics and aims at problem solving, AI, saving and loading data, procedural levels and object pooling. It is meant for people who have already made a few games.
Reviewers like the teaching. One calls the tutorials easy to follow, another says Fahir helped when Unity had been a struggle, and a developer with 18 years of .NET and Java found it practical for picking up Unity. The complaints are mild. One reviewer says the course suits the legacy input system and advises using the same Unity version as the instructor. Another says it is not for beginners unless they pause and research on their own, though the pace is called adequate.
The last update was July 2021, so expect older tooling, and that is the real cost here. The sample is small, with 54 reviews and 1,877 students, but 38 of those ratings are five stars and the average is 4.7. It is a solid pick for intermediate Unity users who want structured projects. Beginners should start with Volume 1 or a basics course first.
Pros
- Three full games across about 24 hours of lectures
- The instructor compares several ways to solve each problem, with pros and cons
- Covers AI, saving and loading data, procedural levels and object pooling
- Reviewers describe Fahir's teaching as easy to follow and helpful when stuck
Cons
- Last updated July 2021, so newer Unity versions may not match the lectures
- Built around the legacy input system; a reviewer advises using the tutor's Unity version
- Not for beginners; one reviewer had to pause and research to keep up
I learned many new techniques and ways to make things happen in a game. The pace of the course is adequate.
Intermediate is accurate: the audience list expects comfortable C# and a few finished Unity games.

Course Description

This is Volume 2 in my Most Comprehensive Guide To Unity Game Development series. If you are interested to enhance your Unity skills then read further.
As in all of my courses, this course is also project based. Simply put, the best way to learn is to actually create a game that is playable on any device, and this is what I preach in all my courses.
Since this is an intermediate course we will not cover the basics of programming with C# and how to use Unity, instead, we will dive deeper into C# coding practices and learn how to solve complex problems with simple logic.
As we go through the projects I will show you multiple ways how to solve the problem at hand and I will compare different ways and talk about the pros and cons of each and why and when should you use one way over the other.
The main focus of this course is to help you think like a programmer and gain strong problem solving skills. Because in 99% of the times in any project you will solve problems by using simple logic instead of complex algorithms, and this is what this course is about.
And not only that, but I will explain to you how to optimize your games from the very start so that you avoid the most common optimization heavy mistakes that not only beginners make when they create their games.
Every section in this course will gradually increase in size and depth so that you always learn new things and face new challenges.
During the lectures, I will give you assignments to challenge your knowledge and to challenge your ability to think like a programmer. Because in game development, the best way to learn is by doing. Of course, I will provide a solution for every assignment that I give you, but I will expect that you try to finish it on your own because it will give you experience, and the feel of how to solve programming problems on your own and it will help you implement and retain everything that I am teaching you in the course.
You will also benefit from my super fast response if you have any issue that you are stuck with, and oh and all the students taking the course will also be there to help you!

We Help People Master Game Development And Get Hired In The Best Game Studios In The World
Awesome Tuts is run by Fahir who has been creating video games and teaching people how to do the same since 2015.
I started my programming journey as an android and iOS developer but quickly moved to game development as that was my passions since I was 10 years old.
During the last 9 years I developed strong skillset in C#, C++, Unity, and Unreal Engine and have created over 100 games in both engines and published games on google play and apple store.
I'm also very knowledgeable about programming patterns, code structures and writing clean, readable and maintainable code.
But most importantly I'm very efficient in teaching others everything I know. During the last 9 years hundreds of thousands of students enrolled in my game development courses and I've helped them learn game development.
I've also helped quite a few people who I worked with closely, get hired in game studios.
If your dream is to become a game developer, master programming and fullfill your passions of creating games, then you're in the right place.

This course is ok if you want to use Unity legacy input systems. I will say that if you take this course, use the version the tutor used to make your life easier. For any beginner looking for information how games are made, this is fine.

I am a .NET and Java developer since last 18 years. I had never worked on Game Engines such as Unity and Unreal. Recently due a project requirements, I had to upgrade my knowledge to Unity and Unreal. I searched for Unity courses on Udemy and found 5 courses useful for me. I started following the course and till now I had completed half of the course. I am finding it very easy, up to date, professional and giving me lots of tips on how to develop 2D and 3D games using Unity and C#. Although I developed solutions using C#, I never had worked with Unity before and I found this course to be very useful to me. I now have the confidence to develop my own 2D and 3D games.
