The Ultimate Blender Low Poly Course 2 (Udemy.com)

Learn Low Poly Modeling and Animation!

Created by: Alex Cordebard

Last updated August 2025

Our take

Based on the ratings of 205 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in August 2025. No course pays to be reviewed.

Alex Cordebard's course is a follow-along project course in low poly Blender. It runs about 21 hours across 77 lectures and seven sections, and most of that time goes into two big builds: a camping scene and a dragon, each over six hours. Smaller projects follow, a desert, an isometric city and a lion bust, with a bonus section that animates the four seasons. The sales page says total newcomers are welcome. The reviews suggest that is a bit generous.

Students like the teaching. Reviewers describe clear speech, a fun tone and an instructor who answers questions. One person coming back from Maya called it a good reintroduction to 3D, and another praised the rigging and particle lessons as hard to find elsewhere. The complaints are consistent, though. A three-star reviewer says it teaches the instructor's own workflow, skips past the interface in favor of keyboard shortcuts, and feels intermediate. A four-star reviewer says the videos are him talking through the project, so following along means going back to fix things.

The rating is strong: 138 of 205 ratings are five stars, and only four are one or two stars. The course was last updated in August 2025, so it has been kept up. It works best for someone who has opened Blender before and wants finished low poly pieces for personal projects. A true beginner can still get through it, but should expect to pause often and look up shortcuts.

Best forBlender beginners with a little patience who learn by building finished scenes, then rigging and animating a dragon.
Skip it ifYou want a slow tour of Blender's interface, or tight lessons with every mistake edited out.

Pros

  • Five-plus finished scenes, from a campsite to an isometric city and a lion bust
  • Covers rigging and animating a dragon, which one reviewer found rare in other Blender courses
  • Instructor speaks clearly, keeps a fun tone and answers student questions
  • Content was refreshed in August 2025 and a transcript is available

Cons

  • Leans on keyboard shortcuts and skips the interface, which one reviewer found hard to follow
  • Mistakes stay in the videos, so following along means backtracking to fix things
  • No quizzes or exercises, and it needs a computer that can run Blender smoothly
Alex Cordebard’s courses are easy to follow and move at a comfortable pace. The low poly course is a great way to learn and practice the low poly style of modeling and animation. I loved doing the dragon animation!

Alex, your teaching style is really great. That’s the main reason I have purchased most of your courses. But brother, I have a laptop on which I just can’t run Blender whenever I try to make something; my laptop immediately hangs. That’s why I don’t ask any queries in your group, because I’m hardly able to work on my laptop. So, for now, I’m in saving mode, waiting until I have enough money to buy a laptop with a better configuration so I can run Blender software properly.

These aren't really "courses" in my opinion. not to take anything away from the content at all. Alec is super talented at blender and way beyond any level I will likely ever reach. it's just that these are basically videos of him talking himself through the project. For example if your following along with the video you end up correcting all the same things and having to go back and fix stuff. like i said the dude is talented i just think the "instructional" part of his courses could be made alot better if some of the b.s. (for lack of a better term) was cut out. On another note, dude says "sweet" waaayyyy too much. All that said, I did enjoy making all the stuff and learned some valuable things. and after i wrote the last sentence i decided to give the course an extra star so four star it is. I'm pretty sure nobody reads these anyways so i probably should've been practicing instead of reviewing. Late

I am really enjoying this. About 6-7 years ago, I was highly competent in Maya, but it has been a while. I don't really want to pay for Maya, but I wanted to get back into 3D for my own personal projects. Blender is so different, I really struggled to learn the interface on my own. This has been coming along really well, and it's been the perfect reintroduction to 3D alongside learning Blender's UI.

The man is amazing.I finished 2 different courses and these courses were top seller but doesnt teach me like this course. You can learn texturing or designing in every course but In this course you learn too much about rigging and particle systems and these topics are unique ı think,How sweet is that ?

By Michael Boyd on 8/19/2022

Alex is an Awesome instructor. This course teaches you so much about, modeling, rigging, compositing, particle systems, creating videos with sound and animation. It's a lot more than just low poly modeling. Each section builds on the next from beginning to end and the end of each section leaves you with a since of confidence and pride in your ability to create 3D animation.

Clear and good explanation on how things or working in Blender. Each video puts focus on a new aspect of blender: how to add primitives, how to manipulate faces, vectors, edges, how to apply simple textures, use modifiers, and many other things. This all while he creates a nice low poly scene, which is a lot of fun to follow and do it by yourself

By Alain Birchmeier on 9/2/2021

I thought I wouldn't learn anything from the intro videos, but in fact I learn how to split and merge windows in blender, which is handy ! The sections are well made and in each of them we see quite a lot of features ! Even using different technique for the same purpose.

By Oscar Villarreal on 6/22/2021

Excelente curso.

By S Smith on 3/14/2021

I feel this is more like a course that teaches the instructor's workflow more than anything. Blender's interface is quickly dismissed in favor of many keyboard shortcuts. In my opinion it severely limits the learning opportunities and makes things so much harder to follow. Consequently I don't think this is a course for everybody. It seems more like an intermediate course for somebody already familiar with Blender.

By 3D PiXL on 1/19/2021

So far I'm really enjoying the course. I like your fun approach but sometimes the repetition of your comments get a little old, especially when trying to concentrate on the task at hand, the jokes or comments immediately after explaining how to achieve something is distracting. Get work, maybe time your humour a little better. Thanks
