I completed all of the assignments and overall thought it was really great. My review will cover a few things I was looking for in a review before I purchased the course. I used Krita, which is free, and had no problem adapting from the lessons for the most part. I would encourage any interested in taking this course to be pretty familiar with what ever software you chose before beginning. I spent a bit of time finding or making brushes to get a similar look to Austin's paintings. One thing I liked was each lesson was self contained usually 10 to 20 minutes which means you can progress through the course lesson by lesson vs listen to an hour lecture and then maybe practice something. I'm not fond of those kinds of courses. And although a lesson may be 10 minutes, it would usually take me double that but by the end I was usually following along in almost real time with Austin. Each lesson felt like a true challenge before I started and then was amazed at what I was able to achieve by the end of the lesson. Very motivating! Austin did a good job of organizing the lessons which became a little more complex when we got into animal and human forms. It's harder to fake that than a rock, for example. One thing I wish was different was that it felt a little like paint by numbers practice. It would have been nice to have maybe some practice looking at actual reference photos so we could work through the colours and perhaps integrate that in the practice somehow. I thought that was going to happen as an early chapter involved "gamut masking" in an early chapter but that topic was never revisited. It would have been nice to have more exercises like that to break up the lessons. Overall, I really enjoyed the course wouldn't hesitate to take another course from Austin.

I enjoyed this course. It was beneficial that Austin used so many individual examples to work from. I will be able to come back and work these again later. I hope he continues to update this course.

Great course, lots of exercises in form of psd files to practice. After completing I feel much more confident in diverse subjects to further my studies. Austin was very clear in his lectures.

I love this course so much. Thanks for teaching and sharing about digital painting. It helps me to paint better. I'm sure this course helps many people also. Thank you :D

Really good advice and presentations for beginners, im still fairly new into digital and there are lot of stuff i have no clue or had no clue how to do until now! However in one of early lectures Austin said he is going to cover how to chose correct/right colors for own project which is going to shown "later" in course, but there is not such lecture. Did he forgot about it or didnt bother to make it or i'm the one who missed it?

Yes great curse, Overall great, only wish if there was a photoshop specific version.

Interesting examples with great delivery. A good emphasis for texturing and rendering artworks.

This course was seriously very beneficial for me, and I'm sure any other guy who aspires to be an artist either for hobby (like me) or for professional purposes. This really got me very well acquainted with the tablet I bought and also with the various ways to paint :D.So, I'll recommend this course to everyone and according to me this is NOT A WASTE OF MONEY :-D.

I like it, but you are just copying your reference. It would show much more of your thought process if you use the reference to create something new.

Great course, easy to follow with lots of great exercises that are both fun and informative!

Still loving this, as Austin demonstrates the specific techniques I am learning about the general processes of building light and texture

Very helpful course ! Thank you !
