Udemy Masters 2016: Online Course Creation - Unofficial (Udemy.com)

This is an old (most of the lessons were shot in 2014) and long course about becoming a Udemy instructor. It used to have super-sections like "Build", "Create" and "Share" which were, in my opinion, a better option because one can get lost or frustrated with all the redundant content that hasn't been removed. The worst example of this is the studio equipment section which has a "new" and an "old" version. I don't know whether the instructor wanted to increase the number of hours in this course, but you don't need two sections that basically cover the same thing. The overall structure isn't that good as well because some of the lessons are clearly wrongly placed. The income reports provided by the instructor actually act as bloatware by falsely increasing the length of the course. Some lessons are very outdated because the subject that is talked about no longer exists. Even though the course page says that it has been updated in 2021, this pertains just to that one lesson about leaving reviews which is present in all Phil's courses. The section on his online teaching vlogs also doesn't exactly qualifies as something of value. Because this course was created during his early days on the platform, there is a lot of cross-promotion happening in regard to his website and other courses. The section on building your website is just silly because it doesn't delve deep into website development and just shows you that you can build an awful one in 5 minutes so the point about that one got lost somewhere. In conclusion, some advice given by Phil still stands today but I don't find this course relevant anymore.

This is the first course of Phil's I have picked up, it actually came recommended from another instructor. I am just over two-thirds of the way through this and already have a very clear picture of how to create, edit and market an online course. I really enjoy his teaching style. Being relaxed, informal, honest and open, it promotes the feeling that he is knowledgeable and genuine. If I can create something half as good as his content, I'd be more than happy! I would highly recommend this instructor and this course. Although it does appear there may be an updated version in his library, but there have been several updates, added lectures and bonuses here which all add serious value! Keep up the great work, I'll definitely be picking up some more of your content in the future. Now, back to putting this all into action.. Many Thanks, Simon

This course is not so bad but quite outdated. The majority of the lessons were recorded in 2013. Promoting it as a 2016 course and adding all the interviews to it just to make it long (28 hours) is a quite manipulative way of increasing sales. Social media platforms like facebook, linkedin, youtube, online marketing trends, behaviours,tools, program functions are changing contantly, as well as SEO ranking factors, advertising algorithms. Almost 5 years have passed since then. I would never purchase a 5 year old course. Luckily this was for free. (While watching your videos I noticed the old facebook newsfeed, ads editor, etc. ) I realized that some other teachers promote their old course as new, so from now on I will check everything before buying.

There's some good stuff in here but it's difficult to find, too much promotion, waffle and unneccessary stuff. If I took out all the minutes of stuff I didn't need I could have saved myself a lot of time and got the useful stuff with more ease. The new sections are good but repeat existing content and come up at points that don't seem to flow with the whole course

The training is a very complete and informational training. First I had to get used to the style of the instructor, but when used to his style, I thought it was a pleasant way how he presented the information. Only one small tip towards to instructor: - There is a lot of trivial information in the course. Which in itself is not bad, but in a course of this size it just 'takes up time', which is not really productive for the student. Taking the whole course takes a lot of time and I guess you could have saved 20% or more by being more 'to the point'. Otherwise it is a great course and worth its price.

I'm not all the way through this course but this course by Phil has inspired me to get rolling and creating. I just published my first Udemy course and it's because I stumbled upon Phil's course. I'm so happy I enrolled in this course because without it, I'd probably not even be thinking about creating my own courses, let alone already published one. This course is a great resource...some things I need help with, other things I feel like I can handle, regardless, if I need some help, I can just watch a lecture or section and get the info I need. I found the course to be good overall. However, the course is a bit longer than I would have expected, much of this is due to the style the instructor chose to use. His narrative approach is good in most parts, but he can be a bit long winded and lament from time to time on irrelevant topics. I would conclude that I would still purchase the course, but would recommend to the instructor that he remake the course to tighten up a few areas so that the course be more concise. Having spent several years teaching myself I realize how easy it is to write or speak ad nauseam.

This course is exactly what I was looking for. I specifically had questions about pricing, branding, and marketing--all of which are covered. And so much more! Lots of information about the technical aspects of video creation (a lot that I didn't even know I didn't know). And lots of guidance on creating your online course content. The course quality is high and the instructor is engaging. Most lectures are short enough to be able to listen to one even if you have just a little time. The supplemental written material is also very helpful. I highly recommend this course for anyone considering making and selling online course.
