We all start projects with the best of intentions. But during development we often find our projects do not meet our expectations for organization, scalability, and for our quality of life as developers.
This course gives you the training to create and maintain robust Unity classes and architectures.
FEATURES:
Rockstar content - Everything you DO need. Just the most relevant, powerful info!
Punk-rock editing - Nothing you DON'T need. No "ums", no waiting, no fluff!
BENEFITS OF UNIT TESTING:
Early Bug Detection - Running unit tests after every build helps in identifying any breakage at the earliest possible instance, saving time and resources
Refactoring Confidence - With a comprehensive suite of unit tests, developers can refactor code more aggressively and with assurance, knowing tests will reveal any introduced errors
Better Design -Writing unit tests forces developers to consider the modularity and structure of their code, often leading to better-designed and more maintainable software
BENEFITS OF TEST-DRIVEN-DEVELOPMENT (TDD):
Improved Code Quality - TDD encourages simple designs and inspires confidence, as code changes are verified by tests frequently
Documentation Benefit - Tests written in TDD can serve as a form of documentation, showing how the system is intended to behave
Reduction in Errors - TDD typically results in a lower bug density in production, as tests are written before the code that must pass them
TAKEAWAY:
After this course you will be confident to design and develop well-designed and tested Unity classes. Learn to write robust C# code that your team will be proud of.
INCLUDED SECTIONS:
Course Introduction - Set the vision and goals for the course. Learn the many benefits of MVC architecture for your projects
Unity Overview - Review the popularity and power of Unity as a game engine. Discuss the structure of the systems within and how MVC architecture is a welcome addition
Unit Testing Fundamentals - We'll add the power of Unit Testing and Test-Driven Development ( TDD ). With this training you will naturally produce cleaner, more readable, and manageable code
Unit Testing Workshops - Take the fundamentals and apply them through a series of isolated demos. Each demo has production code, edit-mode tests, and play-mode tests. Perform assignments based on what you have learned
Unit Testing Lessons - Dive deep into the art and science of Unit Testing. Get the theory, apply the practices, and explore topics including "Pure Functions" & "Test Doubles"
Unit Testing with CI/CD - Master continuous integration, continuous deployment. Learn the benefits and complete the setup for your project

WHY LEARN UNITY?
Unity is a versatile game engine which can be used for creating simulations, prototypes, and games
Over 70% of the top 1000 mobile games are created using Unity Technology
Deploys to PC, Xbox, PlayStation, iOS, & Android, WebGL, AR/VR, and more!
WHY LEARN UNIT TESTING?
1. Accelerate new features - With testing, developers focus on a small batch of code at a time, not moving on to the next bit until they are done with their batch. This gets results

I expected more real practical examples, but saw mostly common examples. But in general it is not bad course. Thank you.

The examples and "assignments" in this course are so contrived and minimal that you can't possibly gain a working understanding of what you are supposed to be learning and why. There are no practical examples to contextualize what you are learning. The very little testing you do is stuff like "make sure that a + b is equal to a + b by just having the test redo what the production code already did. The whole course I kept thinking to myself, ok I bet now we're about to really get started, and then next thing I know it's over. The last 2 sections include advertising for this course. A lot of time is spent learning about other things that I didn't sign up for, such as the most absolute beginning Unity introduction despite being told this course isn't for people new to Unity, and stuff like how to use ChatGPT to write code for you.

The course was really useful. I'd highly recommend taking it, especially to someone who's just starting out with unit testing. The examples were somewhat simplistic, but good for learning purposes. I'd love to see a lecture about AssemblyDefinition setup for testing in Unity. The links about this topic were provided and you can learn about this based on the setup of the example project.

Course does a good job explaining the basics of TDD yet although it said it would be an intermediate course both the examples and workshops were very basic.
By Pierce F. Krouse on 1/23/2024
Unit testing is one of those topics that is generally glossed over, so it's nice to find a decent course that covers it. The real meat of the course is the workshops in section 5 where the author shows and discusses lots of techniques you can use. The course also covers lots of subjects like TDD, pure functions, etc. Very nice.

Wasn't sure how useful this course would be, but after taking the course, I believe this course was amazing and worth the money. Very in depth, very polished, and the instructor was extremally knowledgeable.

I like this course for me this course has all topics that I need to know.
By 안시현 on 12/15/2023
This is a good video for people who have moved to Unity from different development environments before doing the Unit Test. It would have been better if there was a course to apply while developing simple games.
By Kutlu on 11/19/2023
This is a review in good faith, as requested by the course instructor. I have confidence that he will deliver on his promise of walking me through unit testing. He's very articulate, and he competently highlights some key problems of software design/architecture in the introductory chapter. I'm looking forward to the rest of the course!

A good course for those who want to understand Unity unit testing.
