Uses Built-in Render Pipeline which is now deprecated with a "Do not use for new projects" message in Unity since it's being retired. Course calls out that a different workflow is required for URP and HDRP but has not been updated to support either of those. This course is no longer useful.

I'm currently over half way there and this course is so good, insightful, and not just teaches you how to use these tools, but what you should be looking for. Outside of some the SRP to URP adjustments, this course is still relevant and an amazing resource. Want to see more courses like this!

I will share my genuine opinions about this course for those who want to know before buying. I only recommend this for the people who are not absolute beginners but also not advanced. Overall, this is a good source for those interested in learning the basics and general workflow of environment design and level design fields, but honestly, it won't make you able to design whatever you want or be able to work in the industry. I think the general outcome of this course is mediocre in terms of technical aspects. Sometimes he was missing valuable pieces of information, even though there were right moments when he might have shared. I believe this is because he is not a level or environment designer himself. That also makes the outcome itself insufficient in terms of art and spatial consistency. The most problematic thing about the course was that he kept entering predetermined values regarding places and not experimenting with the audience. This is not how you work with most of the time; no one picks the right values at once like he does for the entire course. That is also discouraging for the people who are trying to keep up but put something extra from themselves. I hated his mouse, and the noise keeps coming from outside; the recording is very amateur. I didn't like his approach to teaching.

Great insights for someone starting out. A lot of simple and quick techniques to build beautiful detailed environments. Pros: - Empathetic tutor that goes through unity tools with a sense of exploration and trying things out until things look as you want them to - Clear explanations - The built environment looks great Cons: - It is indeed not built for URP, but the changes to make the project and assets URP are quite simple, explained by the tutor in Q&A and also all over the internet. But most of the problems are resolved by simply going to menu Window -> Rendering -> Render Pipeline Converter and convert most assets for URP. You could also simply use other free assets from the Unity Asset Store anyway. - The tutor's mouse clicking sound can be annoying. I think this could have been easily solved with some audio editor, but I was fine with it Overall, a lot to learn from this and I recommend it to people starting out or for those who want a refresher.

I really enjoyed this Unity course. I am now very confident using Unity to create 3D environments. That said, I'm not a beginner (being an artist in the games industry, but I'd not used Unity before so wanted to get up to speed quickly). Pete is very thorough and explains everything very clearly. He is also active (as of May 2024) in the Q&A which I thought was great as this course is a few years old - many thanks!

For a beginner to environment design, this course was excellent. There is much that can be learnt from going through this course and then experimenting on your own, using the video sections as a reference. The level of detail was more than sufficient and I can say I learnt a lot from this course. The bonus videos on recording a timeline were also very much appreciated.

New to Unity and this makes me want to learn more. Very intuitive and excellent results. My system isn't good enough to have the scene as detailed, but the process of making something was very rewarding. Still to finish but well worth the investment!!

Pete's knowledge of Unity and creating environments is unsurpassed. Any questions I asked he answered promptly and thoroughly. His teaching style is superb. He walks through all steps at a moderate, easy to follow pace. He is not too fast nor too slow. I am looking forward to taking his other classes. I would recommend Pete's classes to anyone interested in creating an environment in Unity.

It had been really fun learning the course, and it taught me beyond what I had imagined it would, therefore I thank you enormously Pete for putting this syllabus together. The assets and packages were extremely useful and the natural flow of the learning process made it very simple to understand which requires a lot of complex understanding; and that shows clearly in every aspect of the course.

The instructor does great job offering not only an opportunity to learn by doing, but also demonstrating important concepts while using a selection of great free assets along with the latest tools that Unity offers.
