Course Description
Make a complete driving game using Unity.
In this course I will show you how to create your own race tracks in Blender. We will then import into Unity and set up different types of race cars including Formula 1 style and racing cars.
Each car will have its own driving style and you can customise each car in the inspector.
This course will also cover:
Different handling on grass, gravel and road surfaces
Setting up AI cars which will compete against you in race mode.
Checkpoints and lap counting
Keeping track of car positions and displaying finish place at the end of the race
Mini map and mini map markers for all cars
Main menu, race track select menu and a car showroom, so you can buy extra cars.
Choosing different colours for the cars you buy
Leaderboard and race stats
Save system to save your credits and high scores
Race customisation system from the track options menu
Keyboard and gamepad control systems
Terrain sculpting and texturing to add extra details
By the end of this course you will have a complete game that you can continue to develop and add to. You will have also developed the skills to go onto develop your own games.
(Please note this is for computer only, it is not designed for mobile gaming)
I look forward to seeing you in my course.

Overall this is a decent a course!!!! But there are few things i can say: My first disappointment is, I thought this course teaches us how to make our own car controller with physics. I also expected to make our own Opponent AI. Both of them were made from Unity's Standard Assets. Second thing is in optimizing code. Most of the part is hardcoded. It had Code Duplication. Too many if conditions and Many variables of same type. Using of arrays and Loops can be a better method. However this course is made keeping in mind of Beginners. Conclusion : If you are new to unity or just know very basics of Unity and C#. This will be a good course. There many things you will learn. However if you are an Intermediate, this course can help you to brush up your skills.

To Anyone Reading this review : Do not buy this course if you want to learn how to write scripts for car controllers, This course is focused on using unity standard asset scripts and controllers to make a racing game. To The Author of this course : You should do a better job of clarification on what this course actually offers, people do not buy a udemy course to learn how to use unity assets, that can be done for free and in much more easier manner elsewhere.

Pete, This is an amazing course! I have never expected to see you thoroughly cover a lot of areas in creating a driving game. Your attention to details is generous and I can imagine the amount of time and effort you have made for this course. Thank You and I am going to start diving into learning from your other course "How to make a fighting game in Unity". Don't be fooled by the simplicity of the titles. Pete has made this course very complete with challenges on how to expand it more. Seeing the caliber and level of his teaching, I will definitely pick up other courses from him!

Overall Course covers most of the topics about racing game, although Pete shows easiest, but not most efficient ways to solve some problems, which is cool for begginers in programming. I'm a person who has programmed before, so I have managed some solutions, which are more automated and difficult than those shown in course. Pete responding to students questions about everything connected to the game, from problems through new ideas that they want implemented to the game is a huge advantage. Too bad we need to use basic handling provided by deprecated unity asset, I know Pete would handle creating his own handling system ;) Overall great course for a person, who hasn't programmed before.

This course is the best for making driving games in Unity! It becomes a whole complete working project for a racing game in Unity. Thank you for this course! Without it, I wouldnt make a racing game in Unity without any bugs. Now, I have some questions and concerns: Will this project be compatible with other car controllers from the Asset Store? Will there be car customization for example, Wheels, Spoilers, and Performance Upgrades? Can you make a multiplayer version via Photon PUN 2? Can you make a car class system, for example lower class cars race slower cars and higher class cars race faster cars?

Great for learning coding, was quiet lost at first but ended up really understanding a lot and in depth. The teacher is friendly and actively answering questions and really helps people learning. Had fun with this course, if the teacher has done any other courses would love to follow them as well. Would definitely recommend.

Pete has been very helpful throughout the whole class. It is designed in such a way that it promotes the student to Learn to Re-Factor. That is the first thing I am going to do. Complete my excel workbook (which contains a list of all scripts, vars, which scripts go onto which components, Scenes, etc.) After I have that I will re-factor.. I already know in my limited experience as an Unity programmer there are MANY opportunities. Thanks for a great class Pete

Love the fact that he creates the tracks in blender, and teaches you how to setup your models; import them back in unity and how to apply textures, followed by adding sound and learn to write the code needed to run the game. Ofcourse I will need to dive deeper in some topics and find information elsewhere. But enough details have been given to create this game and gave me a good starting point to dive deeper in some topics without feeling lost from the beginning.

Firstly, Pete is a great person and instructor. I had quite some issues and he solved them all. Also, this type of game is very popular but there are not many people who know how to make it. So this course is literally perfect. I'm actually surprised Pete is not already well known. His courses are different from other generic courses in a way that instead of making dozens of half baked games, his courses teach you how to completely make a game of some kind, and perfect it, like racing and zombie survival to name a few
