Course Description
Over 64 hours of content!
Learn all about Unreal Engine multiplayer in this fully comprehensive C++ course. From scratch, we create a complete multiplayer shooter game, capable of creating and joining game sessions and connecting many players across the internet. We'll create our very own custom plugin that can be added to any Unreal Engine project to easily turn it into a multiplayer game.
We learn how to optimize our game for the best performance, as competitive shooters require the highest performance possible. We'll implement lag compensation techniques such as client-side prediction and server-side rewind, so the game performs smoothly even in the presence of high lag!
We learn how to use the proper game classes for each multiplayer mechanic. Custom match states, warmup/cooldown match timers, Elim announcements, HUD with health, shields, ammo and grenades, and more! We keep all important functionality on the server, to prevent cheating, and learn the proper way to use the Player Controller, Game Mode, Game State, Player State, Character and Game Instance classes.
We make assault rifles, pistols, submachine guns, rocket launchers, grenade launchers, sniper rifles and throwing grenades! All functional in multiplayer, optimized for best performance.
After this course, you'll be able to create any multiplayer game you want. If you can do a fast-paced shooter well, you can do any game, because fast-paced, competitive games require the best performance possible.
This course assumes that you have knowledge of C++ programming basics. Knowledge of variables, classes, inheritance, and object-oriented programming is recommended to have the best experience in this course.

The course effectively teaches you about multiplayer topics, including basics and some more advanced ones, and you should be ready to make your own multiplayer project after watching it. Unfortunately, too much of the course content is spent on unrelated things, particularly purely visual things, and especially animations. This can be a big hassle for people who got the course and are set on multiplayer, this can be very annoying. Animations and visuals are of course an integral part of a game and some of the visual and animation topics in the course are useful in the context of multiplayer, but a lot of it is just too much for a multiplayer shooter course. Some of the code is really unorganized (which is not that big of a deal given it's a multiplayer focused course) and I feel like some variables could've been named better for clarity.

This course is AWESOME. If you're new to C++ and programming it will probably be a bit challenging but Stephen is an amazing teacher and seems to be pretty diligent about responding to issues that arise in newer versions of UE5 through future edits, updates, and Q&A responses. Also there's an outstanding discord community that is super helpful if needed. The course itself takes you through everything you need to know to build an incredible multiplayer TPS/FPS and it's been incredibly addictive since I started it. Worth every penny!

Excellent course! I’ve made huge progress in C++ and Unreal Engine 5 thanks to this course. Stephen Ulibarri is a truly passionate instructor and it shows in every explanation, he knows how to share his enthusiasm while staying very pedagogical. His clear and structured way of teaching, combined with building a real multiplayer shooter project, helped me deeply understand replication, gameplay, and the architecture of a full project. Once again, I’m really not disappointed, this is a complete and motivating course that I highly recommend to anyone who wants to get serious about Unreal Engine 5 development.

One of the few courses exploring advanced engine concepts for intermediate C++ programmers. We need more courses like this! The code quality is at times questionable (e.g. tons of unnecessary coupling, no modularity, and code duplication), but I have gained invaluable knowledge on how to make a multiplayer game in C++. Worth it! Stephen has learnt this and made his following course, the GAS course, much more modular and well-coded. I will be reviewing that next! It should be your next stepping stone after this course.

Excellent course. It was a HUGE course on multiplayer programming, and Stephen is a very hard working individual, I respect that a lot. I recommend anyone willing to learn Multiplayer C++ with Unreal Engine, to take this course first, as Stephen is the best teacher I've ever seen on the internet. I've been taking his courses since 2020, and I will keep buying every course of his. Great job Stephen, and thanks for existing in this very complexe area that is Game development. Without you, my journey would have been extremely difficult.

Wow! I just finished this course, and this course is amazing! the trainer Stephen is patient, brilliant and does amazing going through every step-in detail and he is so much better than many other trainers, any beginner would not have a hard time going through all his courses or get stuck. the pace of the course is excellent, trainers like Stephen are rare and a gift and I am not exaggerating. I am a 3D artist with 12+ years’ experience and I just started learning unreal game development & C++. I had no clue where to begin, all the YouTube tutorial and blogs got me nowhere and put me in a lot of incomplete tasks, and Stephen surely put me on the right path. Although I am a beginner at coding, everything that is taught in this course is very easy to follow. The most helpful thing about the trainer is that he is active and does respond as soon as he can, despite his busy schedule and the students in discord are active and are very helpful in many cases. I did not hesitate to go for all other tutorial from Stephen, perhaps the best trainer for UE & C++ I have come across for game development and I have gone through a lot of courses from other trainers, and no one comes close to being as good as Stephen and this is very rare and awesome. For all those who wants to learn game development this is your perfect place to begin with and end up been a professional if you follow up the courses offered by this trainer. I loved this course and I give it a 100% rating with no hesitance and all those rating below 5 are perhaps from the lazy ones. lol. Thank you, Stephen! you have made my life much easier, and I am sure others have the same to tell! Please keep up your work! Your teachings are god’s gift.

This course has been the most amazing course I've taken in Udemy. I came from Unity and I wanted to learn Unreal but I don't really like to program in Blueprint. I'm a Java developer in my work and I like to write lines of code instead of connect boxes. So this course has all good stuff for me: c++, multiplayer, tons of hours of learning and a great community behind. When I got stuck, I went to his discord channel and they solved my problems. I left my advises in some of the chapters as well for the future students ;D And Stephen is a great teacher and communicator, I like so much his way of teaching. It has been a long way since I started this course, but being constant I finally finished it! Now I'm going ahead to his new course!

I think the things we learn in this course is valuable But maybe a online game is a very complicated thing In some area following Stephen code doesn't work And not everybody have the same problem Some of the bugs the students encounter but Stephen and others Have not seen before, even though we should have the same code I don't know if it is because of the version of Unreal and Steam Some area the code in video is different from in git As for the community, whether if it is useful or not, I would say it's yes and no Yes as in some students might be generous enough to post the solution for solving the bugs I mention before No as in often when people ask questions there are no response There are very few students that even being not very nice at all Telling people that they should solve their own problems when people need help But the fact that if you search the history these people had asked for help themselves, kind of double standard there But most of the people are nice The most obstacle to this course is that you need two pc to finish this course. Since there are a lot of testing to do to make an online game And sometimes due to factor like time zone you might not immediately find a testing buddy Meaning if you only have one pc you will have to be very patient in this But with that being said I still appreciate Stephen to create this course As I said before things we learnt here are valuable

Fantastic Course for Unreal Engine and C++ I'm a professional Microsoft full stack programmer with over 15 years of experience. For the past six years, I've been learning game programming as a hobby across various engines, with a focus on Unreal Engine for the last two years. Given my background, I’m familiar with C++ and how to use Unreal Engine. This course was fantastic and helped me overcome some obstacles that had previously led me to start new projects from scratch repeatedly. I gained a deeper understanding of C++, good code structure, and effective methods for handling multiplayer. Multiplayer has been my biggest challenge; while I could manage single-player functionality, I struggled with concepts like replication, OnRep functions, and RPCs. Stephen is an excellent teacher. He explains concepts clearly and avoids dwelling too long on any single topic. The course is lengthy, but it covers a wide range of subjects, making it worth the investment. I did encounter some issues—particularly with the network plugin section—but I was able to resolve them and shared my solutions in the active Discord channel, which is full of helpful tips from other students. While I may never need to learn more about Unreal or C++, I would definitely choose one of Stephen's courses over any other available.

I'm almost done and I got to say this is a massive amount of content and well worth it. I was not prepared and I recommend covering basic C++ before doing this and making sure you know it well. I took away a star because Stephen definitely needs to go back and redo the animation stuff using UE5 and not UE4 for all the animation segments. I and I'm positive most people who do this course plan on never using UE4 for steps when doing a UE5 project and don't want to waste the time and space to reinstall UE4 for an OLDER method. I highly recommend Stephen to either redo those animation lessons in UE5 or at least direct us to a resource to do them. I had to look up other youtube videos to use UE5 animations and MANY times in the course we had to add more animations and that's when things got lost and confusing. Please redo the animations section for UE5 and don't use UE4.
