***As with all my courses, software and online tools are always changing and evolving, so if you think of something that could be added to the course to add value, let me know!
The end goal is for you to learn how to build a functional, beautiful, responsive website with WordPress. It's that simple. By combining both backend setup lectures with design-specific lectures, you will get a broad, well-rounded look at how to create a website you can be proud of, without taking months to complete it.
The processes shown in this course are the exact same ones I have used in my design agency for years. This is exactly how I build websites for my clients.
What makes this course different from other courses is that I am approaching it from two perspectives:
my real-world understanding of how to build websites for actual clients
my understanding of graphic design and how that directly relates to website design best practices
I have over a decade of experience owning my own graphic design and website development agency, and I am so excited for the chance to pass the knowledge and tricks I have learned on to you!
With Wordpress, you have options!
I will walk you through both free and paid themes, so that you can dive in at whatever investment level woks for you.
Most themes use a similar backend layout, so once you learn the basics in this course, you can apply that knowledge to other themes down the road. This gives you the ultimate creative freedom and ownership over how your website looks and functions - both now and on into the future.
Who is this Wordpress course for?
This course is great for designers that want to learn how to build beautiful websites without the hassle of having to learn how to code. It is also great for entrepreneurs and freelancers that need a professional online presence but that also do not want to pay a lot of money to have someone else create it for them. It is also a great course for anyone that is curious about websites and graphic design, as the course serves as a great launch pad for wherever your creativity and passions can take you!
By the end of this course, you will have a beautifully designed website that you are proud of, and - if your goal is to start creating websites for others as a side gig or as a business - you will have learned some of the tricks and tools that I used to successfully build websites that clients pay very well for.

This is such a great course - so much content and great value for money! It covers all the essentials, in a very time efficient manner (you do have the beauty of a pause button if you need a second to make notes). I had tried to start a Wordpress site before, but stopped because I had no idea what to do and youtube tutorials weren't quite enough. This however, is an holistic approach to getting started and I really appreciate all the little tips, tricks and disclaimers that Derrick uses along the way. I'll definitely be looking into his photoshop course when that comes out! Thank you!

Great content. Easy enough to absorb especially with the examples provided. It's very fast paced so I'm finding I need to pause often to try out the techniques myself and to look up the links provided. I've had some previous web design and coding experience which helps. If you haven't then some of this may be hard to grasp at the pace it's being delivered. You will find yourself pausing often. Derrick is really enthusiastic about the content, which is contagious and makes the learning fun, but it does result in some fast talking and him moving around the WordPress interface and from browser tab to tab very quickly. I've had to hit the rewind button often to go back to catch something, especially when I'm trying to follow along in another window browser using Wordpress. Slowing down the video to 75% helps with the pace, but it sounds terrible and you lose Derrick's enthusiastic teaching style that way.

Several lessons sound like a sales pitch for paid themes through Themeforest, eg; Salient. I understand the value of accelerating workflow through using pre-built themes & child themes however if this is the direction of the course it should be so named (e.g; Web Design with Salient for Wordpress) and there should be a 'demo' or 'student' theme available so students can work along. Perhaps one with limited functionality (in areas outside the scope of learning) that would make actual use impractical. I would have preferred to see how to do things the 'hard way' with an emphasis on pre-loaded themes delivered with Wordpress (2019, 2018) and very short intros on what can be done better with Salient. Also, I didn't see anything regarding hosting and uploading via FTP software through Cpanel. I know every host will be different but there's a million hosts that use Cpanel and if everyone learned the difficult basics making a transition to Flywheel will be that much easier and more appreciated. Overall though, I did pick up on several useful tips and do appreciate all the time and effort you've put in. Thanks Derrick!

I had worked on WordPress, I had also learnt about the structure of it and had modified it to meet the specification. But something was there which I was lacking. When I saw this course, I found it very useful. The instructor is very good in making one understand the things, and indeed his designing skills are great. He has shown many real life examples that he actually uses, and I found it very useful for someone who wants to know about the themes and all. I am very happy to enroll in this course and I could learn new things. Surely can recommend this to others. Thank you so much sir..

This is NOT, Everything from Beginning to End. This is a fast and general overview of using a specific paid theme loaded onto a specific local hosting program that is then uploaded to that companies integrated hosting service. I pulled some useful information from it but got more out of the two short photoshop tutorials thrown in. I like Derrick's demeanor and delivery, I think with time he will get better.

This is a perfect course for someone who wants to quickly get started with WordPress. A gist of everything of everything from selecting themes, adding widgets and pages to hosting is covered in here. Some suggestions are:_ 1. Please have some real-world examples covered, other than simple blogs. 2. More in-depth explanation of how things work in the WP ecosystem

I like the way the instructor is delivering the material. I also appreciate that each course is short, I can listen to a course when I have a little time or a few courses if I have more time and it does not feel overwhelming. I am new to Word Press and some topics were not as detailed as I need. I will have to do a little research on my own. But this is understandable and expected. Great course! I look forward to taking more courses with Udemy!

So far I have found this lesson groundbreaking for me as a newbie to web design. It may start me on a path of designing web sites for my friends after I have done one or two for myself. In addition, the instructor used his specific knowledge to delete a plugin when creating a portfolio without explaining how a newbie would go about knowing when to do that. I would have given it five stars except that it is too rushed and I find that I have to backtrack and pause a LOT, too much for my tastes. A better approach might be to say "pause here and try this" instead of just pushing on.

I had always wanted to become a Web Developer. Earlier this year, I started learning all the coding stuff- html, bootstrap, php, sql, etc., just to build a website and get the functionality right, but it's been two months and I'm still trying to get the back-end right. :D Just as I was about to give up even thinking about web developing, I found this course! This is what you need to build great websites in a heart-beat! :)

Web Design with Wordpress: Everything from beginning to End is a fantastic course: if you have never built a WordPress website before. I really wish this course had been available 12 months ago when I built my website. It would have saved me so many headaches! I would highly recommend this course if you are about to embark on building your first website and you don't have any coding experience (like me). Derrick is a fantastic teacher who gets right to the point and shows you exactly the steps to take to have your website set up in no time. Plus he gives many tips and points along the way that help make the whole experience less stressful. I still learnt some things I didn't know and some ways to optimize the set up of my site, so thanks for that Derrick, and hopefully in the future, he'll make a course about customizing Wordpress themes which is the course I think I needed. I also feel far more confident to launch another website with far more ease if I ever need to. Five Stars.
