First off, I still consider myself a 'newbie' to C# and Xamarin Forms... I took another series of courses and it was hard for me to comprehend and understand all of the curriculum - nothing was explained easily, it was assumed that the student was an experienced C# person... This course is very different - and the instructor, Grant, will explain pretty much the 5 W's of the steps that are done in his lectures, so one has a good grasp of the content of the lectures, and not getting 'blown into the weeds' or overwhelmed. I highly recommend this course for folks like myself who are 'newbies'...

the course is very good at introducing XAML and take you step by step through building a basic application. Some points to mention: 1. Setting up the environment wasn't that simple practically, I had to download lot of dependencies, the current version of Xamarin in Visual studio has a bug related to the dependencies from NUGet, I spent couple of days to figure it out (Update Xamarin.Forms). 2. The ads module, I don't believe it as necessary in the beginning of the course, it could be replaced by something simpler or it's even better to push to the end of the course. Working with the database and dependency service was really useful, thanks for the effort.

This course does not cover many many basic concepts of Xamarin Forms 2.0. The title is misleading as it certainly does not take the student from beginning to advanced. Instead of wasting time explaining what is a database (showing lego-brick images) the author could have spent that time explaining the core topic more. This is also the first course I saw in udemy where the instructor is openly asking for a bribe - "If you give me 5 rating I would give you something special!!!".

Very basic course! I got strange errors while using latest version of Xamarin. The instructor should include "why we are using this in code", instead of just typing the code. After taking the course i still don't know many things that I have used in the code. Over all i got the idea of how we create a simple cross platform app using xamarin studio.

Teacher claims that you can forget about xamarin University. The problem of course - little practical training . They are not enough to become the " Advanced " level . No examples of the use of other components which are available in Xamarin.Forms. Overall I rate as a developer was useful new knowledge for SQLIte, CustomRenders, AdMob. I would like more practice and more complex applications .

The course is ok, but one should not expect to be "advanced" after taking it. He/she will be just less "beginner" and will be able to create app that base on similar concept to the ones presented. It's a bit pity that only a small subset of possible things are being taught (f.e. layouts, ui controls, etc). There are not many exercises and the ones that are present are not solved in next video. Overall it's fair amount of content for a price and gives some quick heads up on the subject. Experienced developers can consider it when they want to take a grasp of xamarin and explore later on their own.

He focused only on the IMPORTANT concepts that are difficult to learn on your own. Google ads are notoriously difficult, and it's handled here. Listviews are a core technology, and they are covered here. Databases can be really frustrating for anyone new to them, but the examples given are reusable for your next projects. The explanations of data binding were easily understood. That's also another fundamental concept in Xamarin forms. Two other advanced concepts were covered: 1) Custom Views, and 2) Platform specific implementation code. Any real world app will probably need both of those. Sure, there are lots of things that could be covered in the future, but that would be for an advanced course. I've got over 20 years of software experience, mostly in C#, and this course delivered exactly what I needed to use my C# skills on mobile. This course was good enough to make me immediately buy his 'Xamarin cross platform' course. Press the 'Buy' button. You won't regret it.

I'm using Win 10 and Visual Studio 2015. There were a few times simply following the video was not enough to reproduce the result, which I think is understandable. I realized halfway that my current project uses Xamarin native instead of Xamarin forms. So I think the instructor should give a slightly more detailed introduction at the beginning.

This has been a great introduction to Xamarin.Forms so far! I'm learning a lot, I just need to practice now to gain some greater familiarity with the XAML elements and their properties. Fortunately, Xamarin.Forms through Visual Studio 2015 is free and has been helping significantly as well. Thank you for the course!

Not for absolute beginners - you should have some programming experience to take this course. That said, this is an great introduction to Xamarin.Forms and how to use them. After competing this course I have been going back to a few of the lessons more than once to get a reminder of how to specific tasks.
