Our take

Based on the ratings of 152 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in May 2022. No course pays to be reviewed.

Abraham Leal's course builds one female character in ZBrush from base mesh to finished print. Six sections move from the introduction and character refinement through pose and props, armor and details, and a display base to the printing process. It runs about 13.8 hours over 65 lectures. The listing is clear that it expects basic ZBrush skills and, ideally, access to a resin printer. This is a character project with printing bolted on at the end, not a broad introduction to 3D printing.

Reviewers like the pace and the clear explanations. One says it gets to the point instead of making you panic over anatomy. Another took it mainly for the printing chapters and came away having learned a lot. A student building toward the collectibles market called the information accurate and calm. The complaints are fair ones. A two-star review says the instructor mostly works and talks without naming each click. A self-described beginner got lost, a student with modeling experience found the sculpting long, and one wanted a shortcut list.

Of 152 ratings, 144 are four or five stars, and the average is 4.6. The course was last updated in May 2022, so check that your ZBrush version still matches the menus, though reviews as late as 2025 are still positive. The printing section is only about two hours of the 13.8, so treat this as a sculpting course that ends in a print. It suits artists who know the basics and want a finished figure. Total beginners should learn the interface first.

Best forIntermediate ZBrush users who want to sculpt one finished figure and then print it in resin.
Skip it ifYou want a general 3D printing primer, or you have never opened ZBrush.

Pros

  • Steady pace that reviewers say never gets boring
  • Builds one full character: armor, cloth, hair, pose and a display base
  • About two hours on supports, preparation and the actual resin print
  • 144 of 152 reviews are four or five stars

Cons

  • Last updated in May 2022, so ZBrush menus may differ from the videos
  • Instructor works and talks rather than naming every click, per a two-star review
  • Sculpting chapters feel long if you already model confidently
A very concise and good to follow course. The instructor is presenting and explaining the work very well for a nice finish.
Rafael Klosowski, a student

Intermediate in practice: basic ZBrush skills expected, though a few reviewers followed along as beginners.

A very concise and good to follow course. The instructor is presenting and explaining the work very well for a nice finish. A little bit of editing out some irrelevant technical issues would've been nice, but these were minor. I enjoyed the course a lot and learned a bunch! Thank You!

It gets right into the point and helps you get right into it, instead of panicking about getting anatomy right, I feel like I can follow along and do as well as I can and do it again but better next time. Also, seeing how he does the armor and clothes in Zbrush was a great experience as its been something I've been trying to master by myself. Loving this experience!

Had a hope to learn something here, but instructor doesn't explain nothing he just work and talk in between instead of explaining how to do it and so on, he just work with it. Need more explanation how to do it , what to click etc, not all of us are pro in this already....

By Stephen Maitland on 7/18/2022
