Course Description
Learn Network Automation with GNS3 and Ansible.
Do you want to program networks using Ansible, but not sure where to start? Well, this course will show you how you can start programming Cisco networks within 30 minutes.
This course was created for network engineers. There are too many other Ansible courses out there that try to make network engineers server administrators. They concentrate on server administration, installation of software packages and other server admin tasks.
This course is different.
This course is practical. I won't talk about programming in abstract terms and make you wait before you can start automating networks. I will show you how you can quickly and easily start network programming by using GNS3, Cisco IOS and Ansible.
You will see demonstrations of the configuration of both Cisco routers and switches in GNS3. For example, how to configure multiple VLANs on a multiple switches, or how to configure OSPF on a router and more much more.
Learn how you can use Ansible to troubleshoot networks! Use a single Ansible command to retrieve mac address table information from multiple switches in seconds. Then pipe the output to a regular expression to filter down to a single MAC address. You will never troubleshoot networks the same way again!
This course shows you practical examples of using Ansible to programmatically configure Cisco network devices rather then just talking about it.
The days of configuring Cisco networks only with the command line interface (CLI) are drawing to a close. You need to add network programmability using Ansible to your skill set.
Learn how to automate networks using:
- SSH
- Ansible Network modules
- Ansible Playbooks
- Ansible ad hoc commands
Don't reinvent the wheel. Use the tools available to you to quickly and easily automate your networks.
Here are some comments about my automation courses:
"Knowing the material from just the first video would have saved me hours of work and rework in the past."
"It's the easiest, most fun, and most valuable course I've completed yet on Python Programming for Networking. Love it! Thanks again David!!!" Darby Weaver
"Excellent course on Network Programming using Python with lot's of practical network configuration examples."
"Great way of explanation.Nice video and inspiring words! Thank you so much David. You are genius."
"I've been doing network automation for a while, even so, I've learned new things through this course. The instructor start from a basic example, adding improvements in each step. It's a skill that's worth it."
"A must for all network engineers who want to learn python!!! I had very "very" basic programming skills, and couldn't just get the bridge between network and programming (mainly Python - since that's where the hype is now), this course was amazing, I have never been glued to a training course since I can remember. The couple of things I loved the most about this course: 1- David's clear voice. 2- Real world application, not only will David interduce different real-world practical modules that you can import and use, but he shows you how to apply them on ios devices."
"Excellent course on Network Programming using Python with lot's of practical network configuration examples. High quality content."

Excellent course for network engineers who want to get straight to the point. David does a great job of explaining how to use Ansible specifically for Cisco IOS without getting bogged down in unnecessary server-administration fluff. The GNS3 integration is a lifesaver for building a lab without expensive hardware. Highly recommended for anyone looking to start their automation journey!

This course should be updated. Some configurations are already changed in newer Ansible versions. Also I understand the need for start with ad-hoc instead of playbooks, buy the videos need to be redone, not just moved forward or backwards. That messed up the learning by the lack of cohesion.

I am at a home office with windows 11 while learning. I have no access to any infrastructure, nor would I want to test on production systems. I do have access to vmware workstation. how can I test these scripts? I could be jumping the gun considering i'm not on section 2 yet, but do you have an emulator i can work on?

clear, understandable explanations with labs. The additional course on Cumulus was a nice bonus. Side note: Prior to purchasing the course, It would have been good to mention the exact requirements of the lab exercises. I found that I was not able to attain one of the L2 switch images used in the course.

This course was close to expectation. I found flow somewhat disjointed. Then again title of course "Quick Start" was spot on for cursory view of Ansible as it pertains to auto-configuring networks. This course is not for anyone unfamiliar or with gaps of knowledge in intermediate network admin, virtualization, containers and programming. I would recommend this course to clients and peers.

David is the best instructor one could get. He've this incredible capacity to understand and deliver the concepts! This course can change an engineers life. Kudos to David for all the hard work and sharing his impeccable knowledge with us. Love and Respect from India.

What's good is that I got the exposure and the beginnings that I will need to go further in Ansible. I did not expect to be an expert by the end and I will have to review the section on Cumulus a few more times to understand what that was all about, but this was a true good beginning.

This is a great introductory course to Network Automation and Ansible. Dives right in and provides you with the tools and resources to get started with automating your network management/configuration right away. David's a superior teacher who points you in the right direction and inspires you to look for answers on your own. P.S: Like stated in the overview this course assumes atleast CCNA level of knowledge. The focus of this course is using ansible to automate your configuration/management and not to teach the basics of network configuration/setup.
By Tanner Sears on 11/21/2018
Not very helpful at the moment as much of the examples have been deprecated. For now I would save my money until the course is updated and just read the Ansible docs. That's not Davids fault obviously and there are no other courses like this one so still 4 and a half stars..
By Mandar Sawant on 8/24/2018
Instructor sounded very knowledgeable, course material is very useful. It would have been better if more exercises could have been covered. Otherwise everything else was perfect. Accent is not at all an issue.
