Course Description

Thank you for checking out my course :) "Apple Watch Programming for iOS Developers" will help you enter the exciting world of WatchKit. This course assumes you have some iOS programming experience and dives right into the specific tools you need to make WatchOS 3 apps.

Topics we cover include:

  • Tables in WatchKit (surprising different from TableViews)
  • Notifications
  • Complications (have your app on the watch face!)
  • Syncing Data Between Phone and Watch
  • Standalone Apps
  • Timers
  • Design Techniques Specific to Apple Watch

In this course, we'll be creating complete apps that you can install on your very own watch or upload to the App Store. For each app we make you will receive completed source code so that you can always check your work against mine as a reference.

What makes Nick the right instructor?

  • I have more than 10 iOS apps in the App Store which total over 300,000+ downloads
  • Since the watch launched, I had a watch app in the App Store
  • I've taught more than 23,000 other students in my conglomerate of highly rated iOS development Udemy courses
  • I have personality! I keep things interesting for ya :)

I would love to have you in the course. Take a look at the promo video and see you inside!

Additionally, I have made this course downloadable, so you can work through the class offline, making it as convenient as possible for you! Most instructors won't allow this, but I want you to be able to enjoy this course in whichever way is best for you :)

Hi! I'm Nick, and I love to code. About five years ago I decided that I wanted to learn to code, but I had limited access to programming resources, and I was getting frustrated with all of the YouTube videos and online tutorials out there. I experimented, struggled, and definitely failed a lot, but I finally got the hang of it, so I decided that I wanted to change the way that people learned to code, and I started teaching. My experience as an online student has directly influenced my teaching style, because I know what it is like to be in your shoes.

When Apple announced their new programming language, Swift, in 2014, I made my big online teaching debut and created the internet's first Swift course. Since that time, I have become a full-time online instructor and I now have courses not only in Swift, but also in iOS, Android, Django, Kotlin, Python, HTML, Blockchain, etc. I have also created five iOS apps from scratch that are currently live in the App Store and are being used by thousands of users worldwide.

I love sharing my excitement for coding with my students, and I try to make learning as fun and as easy as possible. Thanks for being part of my coding community!

Poor code quality so didn't even want to watch. Probably outdated as the last time updated is Nov 2018.

This is great, I am a JavaScript developer, this first time into IOS development and I am able to create the timmer app without any issue, also using the latest ios 13 and Xcode, pretty impressive. Thanks :)

This is by far the best course I've taken. And the way Nick explains everything is very detailed. I will be looking for more of his courses. I only had to google something one time, and it was my fault. This guy is the best. Thank you Nick!!!

Nick is a nerd, but in a good way :-) He's knowledgable and good at sharing this with his students. His course helped me figure out a couple of things with Watch OS that would have taken a lot longer than without him. I can recommend this course for anyone who is struggling migrating from iOS to Watch OS Swift programming.

Nick is an amazing teacher. He is super enthusiastic and knowledgeable in his field. He is fun to watch and easy to understand. He is very involved in his courses and responds to questions in a timely manner. I highly recommend getting this course if you're interested in creating apps for iOS watch. Great job Nick, keep the courses coming!

Kudos to Nick. This is an awesome course that is engaging with plenty of up to date information and examples for programming the Apple watch. The applications used for demonstration and educations purposes are in depth true and tried examples that teach more than just basic concepts.

Really great course for getting started! Nick is a really great and funny instructor, and from his course I've learned the main stuff about apple watch. I really suggested it to you if you want to know the basics of the Apple Watch and you already know something in iOS!

By James Williams on 11/24/2016

Instructor at times inaccurate in referencing xcode functionality and wha some features do. Leaves the impression that he may not really know the material fully.

By Rob Haertel on 11/2/2016

Splendid course! Great teacher, explaining everything detailed in a calm, smooth and here and there funny way! The way all is illustrated makes it all so easy to comprehend and simulate. Everything works great! Really recommended! Rob Haertel The Netherlands

I have subscribed to dozens of Udemy courses, and may of them by Nick (Rick), but this is the first one that I have done in its entirety. Normally, I just watch what I need to get me going on my current project. This time however, I knew nothing about watchkit so I figured I had better go through them all. I have nothing bad to say at all. It was all great stuff and I think I can use everything that was taught as I hook up my new iOS app to my watch. There are a couple of things that I need to read up on that were not covered. Specifically, how do I hook up the requirements for watchkit to an existing app, and secondly, how can I pass information from my iOS app to the watch. Isn't that what google is for? Thanks Nick for an outstanding course.
