Course Description

ASP.NET MVC is a design pattern used to archive the separations of concerns. With MVC(model-view-controller) you can easily decouple user-interface (view), data (model), and application logic (controller).

This course will teach you all you need to know to build personal or commercial applications using ASP.NET MVC as your development framework. You will start with just an empty project in Visual Studio and build your app from the ground up.

As data storage, you will use an SQL database and Entity Framework will be used to interact with your data. You will also learn how to update database schema using Entity Framework migrations, how to add data to the database, get data from the database, update data in the database and also delete data from the database. You will learn about creating services to work with your data, but also create generic services/repositories to help you implement commonly used tasks like creating, reading, updating, and deleting data from the database. Other important features include dynamic content rendering with ViewComponenets, Paypal payments integration role-based UI rendering.

You will learn all these, step by step with hands-on practice. You will also have a lot of quizzes that will help to improve your knowledge of the ASP.NET MVC framework. Some of the topics that this course covers are:

  • Introduction to ASP.NET MVC

  • Models vs ViewModels

  • Views vs PartialViews

  • SQL server configuration with Entity framework

  • Entity Framework migrations

  • Adding, Getting, Updating and Deleting data from an SQL database using Entity Framework

  • Working with relational and non-relational data

  • Dependency injection

  • Major dependency injection lifetimes

  • Static and generic services/repositories

  • Model binding and validation

  • Routing

  • Cookie-based authentication

  • Role-based authorization

  • Role-based UI rendering

  • Dynamic rendering with ViewComponents

  • Online payments using Paypal SDK and much more...

Ervis Trupja

Hi everyone! I'm Ervis, and I'm thrilled to be here at Udemy guiding you through the world of building apps by coding along.

My passion for programming is fueled by a strong foundation in mathematics and data structures. While I'm a .NET developer at heart, thanks to the vibrant Microsoft ecosystem, I'm a firm believer in continuous learning and constantly expand my horizons by exploring new languages, paradigms, and ideas.

Outside of teaching, I work as a software engineer and founder. I'm currently building Reslug, a URL shortener, QR code generator, and link-in-bio platform built on .NET 9 and Azure. A lot of the patterns I cover in my courses, clean architecture, EF Core, authentication, multi-tenancy, come straight from problems I solve there day to day.

When I'm not coding or recording, you'll find me lost in a good book or exploring a new corner of the world. Travel and reading keep me curious and feed how I approach problems.

Excited to build alongside you and turn your programming goals into real, working software.

To those complaining, this course is not for Absolute beginners. It can be a beginning for those familiar with any other OOP, this course is good to dive into C# & the .NET Framework. Now, .NET5 which is used in the course is not more supported by Microsoft nor compatible with Visual Studio2022. This means following-along will be smoother with .NET5 /Visual Studio2019. It could be great to to update the course to .NET [latest] versions.

Awesome, the course had helped me to understand the basic of ASP.NET Core MVC. I highly recommend this course to any aspiring ASP.NET Core Developer. Identity and Azure configuration is most important section for me. Although if possible need to explain how internally Authentication and Authorization internally handled by ASP.Net Core which will give more clarity.

This course had helped me with my thesis project and I am now very confident in my skills with regards to ASP.NET Core MVC. I highly recommend this course to any aspiring ASP.NET Core Developer. I will carry on the knowledge and skills that I gathered from this course as I continue my journey towards my career.

Not everything is explained in this course, in most cases the author just reads the code he is writing. I know that he is going to replay to this that this course is dedicated to the people who know the basics of c#, but anyway there are some things that go beyond the basics. I completed the course but wouldn't buy it again. Also this course is made for version .net 5.0, please make the video how to upgrade to 6.0, not just the text file.

Overall, a good course. Some things I would like to point out is that after you get further into the course the teacher starts to just add the code without any explanation as to why. In some cases, this is fine as you should really be trying to understand the code yourself but, in some cases, it would have been better to have at least a hint as to why it is being used this way. My only real complaint with the entire course is the redundant copying and pasting code. I understand that this might be more geared towards people new to mvc but for coding standards the dry principal is violated in many lectures. That being said, I got exactly what I wanted out of this course.

A very nice and easy to follow course. But I won't recommend it if you're a beginner in C#. Very little is explained thoroug, but if you have some experience with C# and basic knowledge of the MVC-model, it's exactly what you are looking for if you want to make some kind of webshop!

By Naveen David on 11/29/2021

It has been good so far. In a few sections I would have been good to know where the card layout code was located exactly as I could not find this. There have been other sections in the videos where external code was used. However the exact location was not displayed.

Immaculate. There is no other way to put it. This course has to be arguably the best course on ASP.NET Core MVC I've ever come across. I would recommend this for people who also are not well versed with .Net Core concepts as Ervis gets to the bottom of virtually everything.

By Huy Nguyen on 11/3/2021

The content is clear and easy to follow. Many important and sophisticated concepts are covered. However, it would be awesome if he has a big diagram to explain the structure/architecture and interaction of the components in the code, along the lectures. I did draw it by myself to not get lost .
