I worked earlier with Astro and I came quite late to this course because I needed to help myself with a headless WP project. It does not contain some new framework's features like content collections. Also there are different, well maintaned approaches to block data via API like wpengine/wp-graphql-content-blocks. Despite this, Tom is such a great teacher that I give him a 5.0.

This course is outdated. If you don't have advanced knowledge of WordPress, you're going to get stuck. I got stuck when GraphQL simply stopped working. I followed everything to the letter, but after we made changes to the homepage, GraphQL no longer returned "blocks" and everything broke. I don't recommend this course; it has too many gaps.

Great explanations and updates for astro v5. A big warning though that this is 50/50 a astro and wordpress course. I underestimated the use of wordpress and got the course for astro js (not a lot of them at this time for v5). Obviously this is on me and has nothing to do with the course itself, which is great and clearly describes the use of wordpress; I just want to make other people looking for astro js, aware that this course should be considered only if you actualy are interested in using wordpress.

The course material is good. I'm giving a lower mark for 3 reasons: 1 - instructor needs to change the pace from time to time to let students 'catch up'. The audio is all entirely at the same pace. 2 - some lessons need to be split up, because 2 subjects have been shoehorned into 1 lesson. For example, lesson 57 only the 2nd half is about styling. 3. The biggest problem - the chosen VSC code theme is such that half of the content is unreadable! The contrast is WAYYYY too low - and I don't have bad eyesight!. OK, you can constantly switch to the Github repository to read the code, but please, please do something about this.

I am a WordPress developer, but have just a little experience with block themes. This is a new world for me, very interesting course, a lot of new information. And also, the localwp is so usefull, thanks for showing it to me.

I recently completed the “Astro JS v4 & WordPress (Astro.js, TailwindCSS & WordPress)” course, and it was fantastic! This course is incredibly practical, providing hands-on experience from start to finish. The idea of using Astro to build a frontend for WordPress is brilliant, significantly improving the pagespeed of the website. The course is very comprehensive, covering everything from CSS configuration to deploying applications. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to enhance their skills in Astro and WordPress development!

As usual, Tom provides interesting content with plenty of potential uses in a clear and relevant manner. Great course, especially if you're interested in headless WordPress or rendering static websites from WordPress. This may be his best WordPress course yet.

Really good technical details and explained very well. Its even better when you open the docs from wordpress dev and astro build and search and follow along the videos.

I am blown away by the excellence and usefulness of this course. I am not a beginner in either WP or Astro (although I would highly recommend the course for those on beginner level with WP and/or Astro due to the straightforward and step by step explanations and indications used throughout) and yet this course is just what I need for a current set of projects (SSG and SSR Astro apps in search of CMS´s for designers (!) and content creators). Finally, as a fully up-to-date course, it does a great job at the same time in making me feel at home in the latest versions of both WP and Astro. A gem of a course!

I have just started the course, but I'll leave a few stars here in good faith! I really like the calm voice of the instructor and the well structured explanations so far.
