Course Description
Are you experienced in AutoCAD but only know how to model in 2D?! This course will introduce you to the 3D concepts and commands and allow you to level up your AutoCAD skills.
Whether you have used AutoCAD for years or have just completed our 2D course, this course will show you how to create in 3D and really make your models come to life.
Jane: “I had tried other courses that said they were for beginners but assumed there were things you already knew. This course actually starts at the beginning and explains what you're doing as you're doing it, without making you feel lost. I do have to pause often but it's so helpful!”
Create 3D models from 2D designs, set up the scene, add materials, lights and cameras. Create photorealistic images to show off your creations or walk through them in 3D.
After learning the basics of AutoCAD many people want to move on to more advanced concepts. 3D is becoming more popular as it makes it much easier to visualize the end result of a project. In moving into 3D however, there is much more to learn than just the 3D modeling aspect. In order to present your finished image, you need to know about camera placement, lighting the scene, and applying realistic-looking materials.
This course was designed for the AutoCAD user with experience in 2D that would like to learn to use the 3D commands. The course includes practice files and a realistic project to allow you to put into practice the skills as you learn them. Throughout this AutoCAD course, you'll be creating your own real-world realistic project that is indicative of the kind you might be asked to create in the workplace. You will learn how to produce a professional model to industry standards and hopefully inspire you to do even more!
In this course, we cover advanced 2D drawing methods before moving on to 3D modeling and showing how to model a range of objects. We then use these methods to convert a 2D drawing into a 3D model that we can work with, in the following chapters.
MaryKate: "I imagine that the pace of this course will suit most people interested in an introduction CAD! The instructor is easy to understand and is cautious to not overwhelm you right off the bat.”
What will you learn in this AutoCAD advanced 2D to 3D course?
Start by learning some advanced selection tools and workflows
Learn advanced viewport control tools and techniques
Create Dynamic Blocks that can be altered as needed
Begin with the basics of 3D modeling
How to edit and refine a 2D model for converting to 3D
Use the extrude command to give 3D properties to 2D elements

Become a Professional AutoCAD Drafter
With the skills learned in this course, you'll have a highly-desired skill that can help you get jobs and make money as an AutoCAD Drafter.
AutoCAD is an industry-standard and most widely used application when it comes to CAD software, so it's important for you to learn it if you want to be a professional designer.
Abraham: "You have put together a wonderful course. Auto CAD was completely new to me however I feel much more confident after having gone through this course. As a beginner, Auto CAD was definitely intimidating to me however your course has put me at ease. I am a working professional in the marine construction field and frequently need to make new drawings for vessel reconfiguration, new fabrication, etc. Previously I would make a sketch and depend on others for a final drawing but now I have started doing it on my own in a small way. Once again thanks for designing this beautiful course. Great Job!
I have used this method successfully to teach many students and hope to teach you the same way. This course is the Advanced AutoCAD course and is the third in a range of Autodesk-specific software courses that will take anyone from a basic 2D Drafter to a fully-fledged 3D CAD specialist.

I have over 23 years of experience as a Draughtsman & CAD Designer in a wide variety of disciplines and am an Autodesk Certified Professional in AutoCAD for Design and Drafting. I started on a drawing board learning traditional drafting skills and witnessed the introduction of CAD software into the industry. Originally starting on the very basic AutoCAD release 10 I have used every version of AutoCAD since as well as adding various other CAD software. This has given me a unique insight into how best to utilize these great tools in the real-world environment.
Over the course of my career, I've trained countless people in the use of these tools and as most of this training was geared towards getting staff members up & running with this software as quickly as possible, I developed a method that gets my students actually creating drawings straight away. We then gradually add more advanced techniques as we go.
"I look forward to helping you get started and working with you over the course of your development."

Very good overview of AutoCAD to help you familiarize with the features and settings. A good portion of the course focused on rendering and realistic modeling features. This may be preferred by some, but a more in depth look at the 3D modeling features would have been more beneficial.

This course was very informative, I have learned so much I already have one client looking for a 4000+ square foot home. Love it, I recommend this course if you are seriously interested in architectural design/drafting. Well done.

I use AutoCAD daily at my work. I took this course to learn me more about 3D. I did learn me some functions in AutoCAD that I did not know about. But I wish it could be more longer about the 3D functions.

Really helpful and informative. I may not be as fast as some of you, so I was hitting the pause and rewind pretty regularly throughout this course. This is the second course I've taken from Mike and they were both very solid without too much fluff.

Even though this course is meant to build directly on his AutoCAD beginners course, he still takes the time to explain some of the basic commands again for those that may not have taken the first course or had forgotten why we might've done something a certain way. The WHY is what sets his courses apart from the rest.

I am a senior Civil/Structural Engineer who finished my degree before AutoCAD was part of the Engineering curriculum. I work for the Oil and Gas Industry. For years I’ve been trying to learn AutoCAD. I did my house extension using Sketch UP and plotting the work in Excel to get planning permission. My company has online courses but there is no practice. You spend 40 hours learning AutoCAD commands and answering quizzes. Conclusion, you couldn’t even start a drawing. Once I had to work out the volume of cut and fill of a very steep terrain where a metering station would be built. So I spent many hours watching youtube videos to learn how to use AutoCAD Civils 3D. I managed to learn the very basics of AutoCAD to be able to learn Civils 3D and work out the volume, but it took me a long time. To sum up, I am very satisfied with this course run by Mike Freeman. I can now start a drawing, finish it, and plot it using View Ports with the right scale. And the Advanced Course with 3D Modeling is a bonus.

Great way of learning the AutoCAD! Thank you for the course. Last part with 3D walk through was too long, and we would probably do it in Lumion or etc. but overall this is an amazing course. Thank you so much for sharing the knowledge.

Certainly a great complementary course after the Beginners' one, totally recommend it. The instructor has a thorough, enjoyable and concise way to deliver and illustrate all the content; it was a nice journey, I learned a lot.

Great course and lessons explained very well. Learning a lot in a short amount of time. Touches on all the main aspects in AutoCAD. I work in building services maintenance this course has more than enough information to get me drawing, modifying and organising building plans. Its an extra skill i never had before. I recommend doing the first beginner course as well.

Mil gracias profesor. Exitos
