Course Description

Learn to design your own parts and machines with Autodesk Inventor. Whether it's for 3D printing, mechanical design or woodworking Inventor is the perfect software to design in 3D. Inventor is used all over the world by professionals to design everything from small models to airliners and spacecraft.
This course is aimed at beginners with no previous experience or little knowledge of Inventor who wants to learn to use the software properly and gain a sound understanding of basic modelling of parts and assemblies. I do not just skim over each subject but go in-depth to really give you an understanding of the foundations on which you can then build on in subsequent courses.
As a CAD user and instructor for over 23 years, I have developed a unique method to teach CAD software. A lot ofbooks and courses out therespend the first parts describing every single command and instruction which can leave the student feeling bored and overwhelmed. It is no good learning what a command does if you don't understand why you need to do it.
In any CAD software, there are a few basic commands you use all the time and many that you don't need to know in order to get started. I believe in teaching these basic actions and getting the student creating drawings straight away. Using the type of drawings you may be asked to create or amend in a real working environmentgives the student the confidence to then use what they have learned to create their own designs.
More advanced techniques can thenbe taught as they progress which shows the student why they are being used in various situations.
I have used this method successfully to teach many students whether they are learning for their own hobby use or for professional reasons and hope to teach you the same way. **Please Note: This course was recorded on the PC version of Inventor. If you use a MAC then the commands and locations may vary. I do not have a MAC so am unable to help with this but a quick Google search should help you.**Who this course is for:
Beginners with no or little experienceAnyone that would like to learn to model for 3D printingMechanical Engineering Students

I have over 23 years experience as a Draughtsman & CAD Designer in a wide variety of disciplines. I started on a drawing board learningtraditional drafting skills and witnessed the introduction of CAD softwarinto the industry. Originally starting on the very basicAutoCAD release 10 I have used every version of AutoCADsince as well as adding various other CAD software. This has given me a unique insight into how best to utilise these great tools in the real world environment.
Over the course of my career I've trained countless people in the use of these tools and as most of this training was geared towards getting staff members up & running with this software as quickly as possible, I developed a method thatgets my students actually creating drawings straight away. We then gradually add more advanced techniques as we go.
"I look forward to helping you get started and working working with you over the course of your development."

The course was excellent for me. I am very proficient at autocad so it was a little slow in some places.
Overall, I learned quite a lot.
I highly recommend this course.

Well, so far it's getting me more interesting on the first place of this course. I really loved and enjoy making some parts where comes from my idea regardless whether it's basic or advance. This course is good for the beginners that scouting their passions.

I like everything so far but my one hang up is the video quality not being higher. Makes it more difficult to see what is being presented on his screen.

I quite enjoyed the course.

This is definitely a beginner's course, but it exceeded my expectations for an online class. It was thorough enough to get started but not overwhelming with too much information or overly advanced building techniques. I would strongly recommend this course for someone who wants a basic introduction to Inventor software. A person could start amateur modeling projects right after this course.

I enjoyed your teaching approach and method. I've learned more from this short course than from another longer course from this site. I could get right into drawing my ideas. Thank you. I would high recommend your introduction course to others. I am looking forward to your advance course. I want to know more on how to make use of inventor.

Brief but the instructor tried to cover and explain the basics.

Great course. As some who is self taught in inventor over the last 6 months, I have really gained a lot from going back to the bare basics and essentials that this course provides - this will certainly save me lots of time in the future. Thank you!

Excellent. Perfect for me. Learned more in short time than days, weeks and months with other
