Course Description

TinkerCAD is the perfect software to learn the basics of 3D modeling. The software allows you to create 3D models that can then be sent to a 3D printer or CNC machine to be made. If you are interested in learning how to create your own models to print on your 3D printer then TinkerCAD is the best place to start. It is fairly simple to use, allows you to create a wide range of objects and best of all, the software is completely FREE!.

It is important that you learn to model correctly from the start if you want to become a proficient creator and TinkerCAD gives you a great grounding in this area. By learning to create objects from basic shapes you are forced to use your imagination to edit these shapes into the parts you require. This skill is an important part of modelling that will stay with you as you progress on to more complex software.

TinkerCAD is also great for kids to learn as its simple and colourful interface make it fun to learn and create. After taking this course you will be able to teach your children to model a wide variety of objects limited only by their imagination.

In this course, we not only teach you how to use the software but let you follow along as we model some items such as a sign for a bedroom door or workshop and a toy train.

The course also includes some quizzes to help you ensure you understand the basics of TinkerCAD before moving on.

3D printing is fast becoming one of the easiest ways to create your own objects at home. It's becoming more and more popular every day and the ability to create objects yourself rather than relying on finding objects created by others will become a more important skill in the future.

If you have a 3D printer or CNC and would like to learn to create your own models rather than just relying on downloading others then this course and TinkerCAD is the perfect place to start. Even if you don't have a 3D printer but would like to learn to use this totally free software then you will find this course enjoyable and informative. You can always send your models out to be printed.

I have over 23 years of experience as a Draughtsman & CAD Designer in a wide variety of disciplines and am an Autodesk Certified Professional in AutoCAD for Design and Drafting. I started on a drawing board learning traditional drafting skills and witnessed the introduction of CAD software into the industry. Originally starting on the very basic AutoCAD release 10 I have used every version of AutoCAD since as well as adding various other CAD software. This has given me a unique insight into how best to utilize these great tools in the real-world environment.

Over the course of my career, I've trained countless people in the use of these tools and as most of this training was geared towards getting staff members up & running with this software as quickly as possible, I developed a method that gets my students actually creating drawings straight away. We then gradually add more advanced techniques as we go.

"I look forward to helping you get started and working with you over the course of your development."

This was a good match for me. I don't have any 3d modeling training and was looking for a basic intro to Tinkercad. I want to build off Tinkercad and learn to do my own models for 3d printing.

I watched this course with my 11-year-old daughter and it was just what we needed to get started in TinkerCAD. The instructor broke it down and made it easy to understand.

As with anything else I will have to watch the series a few more times and apply it to actually designing some things with it. I think the instructor explains and shows what to do well.

This course was very good because it filtered the TinkerCAD software down to the essential items. Those items were then explored, with actual examples of how you might use the features.

The course is pretty good, about what I expected. I understand that TinkerCAD has been made simple at its core, before this course, I was just having challenges using the tools within the program and not finding what I needed. I was curious about importing STL type files and being able to edit them. This program went over briefly the import function, but the design was a basic airplane silhouette, not a 3D design. Also the course overview mentioned using layers, I don't recall that it touched on that. Overall, it taught me some basic functions which is what I was looking for.

Excellent Beginner's Guide to 3D Modeling" This Thinkercad course was a fantastic introduction for someone completely new to 3D modelling. The early lessons were powerful, providing a solid foundation with clear instructions and easy-to-follow exercises. I appreciated the practical approach, which helped me quickly grasp the core concepts. The course covered a good range of tools

As a beginner to tinkercad, this course did exactly as advertised. After taking this class I did a small project and then found an online company to have it 3D printed. This is my "proof of concept" project. If I had any criticism, it would be to show or put in Q&A how to have a 3D printing company print a project. I figured it out pretty quickly but for someone else it may not be as easy.

I had used the software before, but didnt really know what all the functions were.... until now! Its going to really help me with my new career in teaching, being able to teach the basics to the students.

Excellent, no nonsense introduction to Tinkercad. The course was so good I've purchased another course by the instructor for Fusion 360. I finished the course and felt confident I could use Tinkercad to build my projects.

By Huzaifa Rizvi on 5/18/2020

I liked the course. Everything is explained from ground up with simple example. But I would say only basics are covered and advanced steps are touched only in brief. I would love to enroll in part-2 of this course if it comes in future. The pace is a bit slow for me so I have to watch it at 1.5x. The teaching style is a bit serious for teen like me.
