Automation Framework Development with Playwright in C# .NET (Udemy.com)

An End-to-End Playwright automation framework development course - 2025 Updated!

Created by: Karthik KK

Last updated September 2024

Our take

Based on the ratings of 877 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in September 2024. No course pays to be reviewed.

Karthik KK's course teaches how to build a Playwright test framework in C# on .NET 8, not just how to write a few tests. The syllabus covers async programming, page objects, dependency injection, XUnit, AutoFixture, Specflow, Extent Reports, REST API testing, database testing and GitHub Actions. That is 157 lectures and about 18 hours across 24 sections. It is labeled all levels, but the requirements ask for .NET basics, and the reviews suggest that is a floor, not a ceiling.

Happy students are warm about it. One, coming from Selenium with Java, says it gave them confidence in Playwright and .NET, another says they implemented every feature, and a third says Karthik answers questions when issues come up. The complaints are consistent, though. He talks fast, some parts feel over-engineered, and the structure is scattered. The simpler crash courses sit at the end, and reviewers say they belong at the start. One student says the last section switches to a different test site and was hard to follow.

The course was last updated in September 2024, and it shows. A reviewer points out that Specflow is now Reqnroll, and another says the examples use .NET 7 but mostly still work. Still, 763 of 877 ratings are four or five stars, and 6,541 students have enrolled. It is a good pick if you already write C# and want a framework to adapt at work. If you are newer, watch the crash courses first.

Best forQA engineers with some C# or Selenium experience who want a Playwright framework blueprint with DI and reporting.
Skip it ifYou are new to C# or want slow, step by step teaching. Reviewers found the pace fast.

Pros

  • Builds a full framework: DI, page objects, config, Extent Reports and GitHub Actions CI
  • Goes past browser tests into REST API, HAR file mocking and database testing
  • A Selenium and Java tester says it made .NET Playwright feel doable
  • Source code comes with each section, and a reviewer says Karthik answers questions

Cons

  • Fast delivery; several reviewers could not follow the explanations
  • Basics live in crash courses at the end, so the order feels backwards
  • Last updated September 2024; Specflow is now Reqnroll and examples use .NET 7
I am from Selenium with Java background. I was not confident to work with .NET Playwright before, but after learning this course, it gave me confidence on working with Playwright and in .NET.
Upadhya, a student

Labeled all levels, but it expects working C# and some test automation. Beginners in the reviews struggled.

Course Description

Automation framework development with Playwright in C#.NET  is an advanced course designed to address End-to-End test framework development with clean coding and SOLID patterns in place.

The curriculum of this course is designed not just by randomly choosing some of the topics that I know, the course has evolved over a period (20+ years) by giving training to more than 360,000+ professionals (both online and corporate training) and working in automation testing field 20+ years now

Hence the course is much-refined version, meaning the course won't deviate from the topics it is meant to be.

The course includes all the source codes which we will discuss in the course, hence one must have all the source codes required at the end of every section.

Finally, the course is for those, who are serious about automation testing framework development from the complete ground up and understand all the nuts and bots of building them for extensible usage at work

In this course, you will learn to automate ASP NET Web API and WebUI projects using tools such as

  • Playwright (latest version)

  • .NET 8

  • C# 12

  • XUnit

  • AutoFixture

  • Fluent Assertion

  • Specflow

  • Extent Reports

We will also be using the following patterns and concepts in this course

  • Dependency Injection

  • Factory Pattern

  • Page Object Model Pattern

  • Lazy Initialization

  • Separation of Concerns

  • Single Responsibility Principle

  • Dispose Pattern

  • Asynchronous programming

At the end of this course, you will have

  • Complete understanding of C# with .NET 8

  • Complete understanding of Playwright with latest and greatest changes

  • Designing a complete framework from the ground up

  • All the idea to design a more extendable framework

  • CI/CD with Playwright

  • Reporting for Playwright with Extent Reports

You can directly apply all the concepts from the course at your work with very less code change in the framework and start using it as your test automation framework to test and improve quality of your applications.

Thanks for going over the Page Object Model. This is an advanced course, so I’ll need to replay and rewatch the videos multiple times to fully understand the content.

By Upadhya on 8/11/2026

I am from Selenium with Java background. I was not confident to work with .NET Playwright before, but after learning this course, it gave me confidence on working with Playwright and in .NET. This is a comprehensive curriculum covering all the topic one need to write their Playwright code and develop a framework at their work.

By Catalin Mircu on 3/28/2025

The last part is too fast, at some point changes the tests from using the previous application to the website http://www.eaapp.somee.com. I personally didn't follow and have some errors, not sure if it is from the mismatch of the IDE versions.

By Sathishkumar E on 9/6/2024

This is a very interesting course, the framework setup explanation from scratch to a refined one is awesome. The instructor Karthik is very supportive in responding to any issues reported.

By Diana Rosário on 6/18/2024

The instructor moves too fast and uses copied code from unmentioned sources. The course is not properly structured being that the crash courses are multiple times mentioned at the beginning but then are only found at the end. Since it is already included in the course, then it should start easy with the crash courses and then build from there.

By Andrew Turner on 11/8/2023

The content of the course is good, but I found the presentation lacking. The instructor moves too quickly for most of the lectures, moving back and forth between files without mentioning which files he's moving to, pasting copied code with no explanation of where it came from, referring to the crash courses, which are at the end of the training - if you're building on that information put them first. Sometimes I couldn't tell if it was a training course I paid for, or an advertisement for Rider IDE.

By Star Buck on 10/17/2023

With next to no courses out there on C# with Playwright, I was very pleased to find Karthik's course and that it is very methodical and clear. With the aid of this course a developer and myself learned everything we needed to kick off a new framework for our team with Playwright, C# and xunit, and enable the dev's to contribute to test automation. It's good to see that it's updated from time to time also with new sections. I would definitely recommend this course to others.

By Andrei Nekrashevich on 7/2/2023

The instructor did a great job connecting all the cutting-edge aspects of using Playwright and C# for automation testing. It is the best material I could find, where all topics are covered in one place. My only advice for improvement would be to provide more detailed coverage of the API testing section, as it felt relatively brief compared to other topics, especially regarding the use of tokens for authentication. Nonetheless, the course offers valuable insights and is highly recommended for anyone looking to improve their automation skills.

By Dimitar Stojanovski on 7/2/2023

Overall the course was really good, the framework that was presented was really useful and it is unique to have a course in Playwright in .NET as there are little to none information that you can find online. The instructor explains really good so my overall experience is great I would definitively recommend this course. One slight remark is to leave some basic knowledge of Docker or Github Pipeline as a pre-requisite to the course, so the learner can be aware that these pre-requisites are needed. Looking froward to see a course in Playwright in Nunit.

By Automation on 6/6/2023

With each section, my engagement deepens, drawing me further into the material. The instructional methods employed are both captivating and effective. In summary, the experience is exceptional.
