There's some good content in the course that is useful to learn for Corona game development, but the resource files are no use to follow along because they seem to be the code in its finished form for each chapter. So if I want to follow along I need to open the code and then manually remove certain parts so I can follow along, but obviously I don't know what to remove. The project is not continuous so it's not clear if I can just use the code from the chapter before last or not.

I've been professionally developing for close to 10 years in a variety of languages and am starting to look at mobile development. I've read most of the Corona SDK documentation and purchased this course to run as background noise at my work. Jay has a friendly presentation and pleasant speaking voice. I'd say he covers enough topics for someone to create their own game without too much trouble. LUA itself is a bit odd of a programming language; I recommend reading the LUA programming reference at least once (it's short and you can ignore the last section about C) before watching these videos.

Course looks like it was abandoned by the instructor. Cause there are some many questions not answered. I'm not asking for more teaching, but clarification about a typo in one lesson. He corrected on the same video but, is not clear what he meant, and the code does not work. This was not the first question I asked without answer. I cant keep going with the course without understanding the principle. Very frustrated!!

This is the best programming course I've ever used. Jay is an excellent instructor and has a very pleasant presentation. It's like he is talking with you not just speaking into a mic reading from a script. He will take you through step by step and provides very good examples that really help your understanding. The videos and files are presented in a way that is easy to follow and keep up with where you are in the course. Stop the videos and type in the code and experiment and then restart video. I highly recommend this course and Jay as instructor. That said..it's not perfect. I followed along pretty well until sections 11 and 12. Section 11-Widgets - there were changes in the current version/build of Corona that made the widget examples not work which was frustrating and confusing. Section 12 - included great material with intermediate to advanced topics on levels, locking levels, analytics, etc. All things we want to know and use in a real app, but Jay did not go over these in a step by step detailed manner in the same way as the rest of the course. With some perseverance and the full app download I was able to sort through them and get "my" sample app to work the way I wanted it too, but would like to have had the "hand holding", step by step on those subjects, as well. In the future would like to see them recommend a version or build of Corona specified in the beginning to use for the code to avoid issues and cover all topics in the same step by step manner that Jay is so good at. After all without some problems we aren't forced to think and experiment. Over all this is a great course and I couldn't recommend it more highly.

The lecturer really holds nothing back.Right from the start you can tell he actually wants to teach people how to build mobile games and NOT some hidden get rich scheme by feeding breadcrumbs to lure more people in. However I have not even finished with the course as i am building my own christmas game and using these tutorials as a guide. Highly Recommend it. Jeff

I had watched the first (free) course about Corona development, and as a developer with over 20 years of experience, I wanted to get the basics that I needed to quickly start developping games with Corona. This course is a great help in getting the basics needed to create a game. I've also registered for the Business Apps Using Corona SDK course. Highly recommand!

I did the crash course and with some more readings and youtube videos I released my first game into Play Store. So anyone willing to develop a killer game using corona sdk, then this is the course for you. I'd strongly recommend it to anyone. Btw, now starter pack is free with corona sdk so you can build and port games to play store and iTunes without paying a penny to corona guys.

This course is a great way to get up to speed with Corona SDK. You will literally be ready to start creating you own game after completing it. I found a ton of ideas popping up consistently about how I could apply the concepts being taught at many points through the course. This is a must have for someone wanting to write their own games on mobile devices.

I am a completely new user to the Corona SDK and in my honest opinion, this course is perfect. I have learned so much and I have so much content to continue working with. Jay is easy to listen to, explains things in a straight forward way, and he really keeps this from becoming a programming course. I would recommend this course to anyone interested in using the Corona SDK (with the Outlaw IDE - DO NOT SKIMP OUT ON BUYING THAT). Now I'm off to buy the next course Jay offers -- Thanks Jay!!! Cale

I took the Beginning Mobile Game Development Course of Jay Whye. This course is very complete if you want to jump start your gaming practices with Corona SDK. The instructor speaks very clear and takes a lot of time explaining all the concepts. Throughout the course you start developing a frog game, but the instructor first explains the concepts before integrating it in the overall frog game. As a result, you get a lot of more information than just developing this frog game. I would absolutely recommend this cours if you want to start with Corona SDK
