Course Description

Blender is perfect for anyone interested in learning 3D, because it's incredibly powerful and free. This full creation suite offers a complete range of artistic possibilities, including modeling, animation, rendering, compositing, video editing, and a lot more. So whether you're interested in creating games, producing animations, 3D printing, or anything else related to 3D, Blender has you covered with it's complete production toolkit.

Learning such an advanced piece of software can be intimidating though! There are a crazy amount of tools and it can be tricky to figure out where to start. That's what this course is for. This curriculum was designed to give you a clear understanding of the most fundamental concepts and tools, even if you have zero experience.

Learn Fast with the Quick Start Sections

The course starts off with a few Quick Start sections which walk you through the basics of the software step-by-step. These sections make it super easy to quickly get up to speed with the most essential tools. They also act as a handy reference guide to refer back to if you forget any of the fundamentals.

Create a Full 3D Scene from Start to Finish

Then we'll take things further and apply everything we learned in a step-by-step project where we create a fun Pirate Raft scene. We'll also learn about a lot of new tools in this project, and I'll explain everything clearly along the way so that you're confident in knowing what's happening and what you're doing. You'll learn both how to do things, and why things should be done certain ways.

What Topics are Covered?

This course covers a wide range of topics designed to get you up to speed with the fundamentals of each step of the creation pipeline so that in the end you're actually capable of creating full 3D scenes yourself from start to finish. Here's a list of some of the main topics that you'll learn about throughout the course:

  • 3D Modeling and the most common tools such as subdividing, extruding, and creating new geometry.

  • Learn about something called Modifiers, which are special modeling effects that you can use for complex modeling tasks.

  • Fundamentals of creating Materials(also referred to as Shaders), including using different kinds of Textures to create more complexity.

  • How to illuminate your scene using multiple kinds of Lights, as well as how to add ambient environment lighting.

  • Learn how to position your Camera in your scene to frame the perfect final shot of your scene.

  • Get introduced to two different Render Engines, Cycles and Eevee, which are used to process your scene into a final image.

Take Your Blender Experience Further

By the end of this course you'll be confident with the fundamentals and ready to take your skills further. But what happens next? In the What Now section at the end of the course, I'll give you some advice on continuing to learn Blender. I'll also give you a tour of Blender's community so you know where you can chat with people, ask questions, join team projects, and keep up with the latest Blender news.

This course has everything you need to get a strong start with Blender and 3D, so I hope to see you in there!

its quite good but my blender version was a bit different in some ways

By Shelley Bricker on 10/3/2025

Outstanding! My joy has been renewed and my fear of not getting it the first time has been removed. This is my third try at learning Blender. I am looking forward to more courses and also learning on my own! Chris takes the time to show, explain and makes learning fun. The closed captioning (I'm hearing impaired) and the lessons having the key strokes shown is immensely helpful! I was surprised how much I have learned with the Pirate Raft. So many things to go try on my own already! Thank you Chris!!!

If you're interested in learning more about Blender but find it intimidating, look no further. Mr. Plush does a great job of simplifying the building process while still being engaging and informative. All Blender creators will find value in this course, whether it's getting your feet wet, improving your workflow, or learning a new technique. Phenomenal course; I couldn't recommend this enough.

This is exactly what I needed to get started. The right amount of explanation and repetition of the command shortcuts at every stage has made them stick in my mind, where other tutorials have adopted an "only going to tell you once" approach and has led to roadblocks down the line. The only downside, I would say, is omitting a more detailed explanation of the various nodes used for the variance to the materials' patterns; where I felt I could experiment with the geometry, it seemed that there was little room to play with producing alternate effects within the materials. Overall, though, an excellent tutorial.

I got this one because I want to be able to model basic assets for an indie videogame, but my strennghts are more of coding, I had no idea of to move around a 3d tool... This course is perfect for beginners. Looking at other options, I was overwhelmed especially by the duration of the entire courses, this one allowed me to keep motivated because I felt like I was actually making progress, and I was. The way I was moving around Blender at the end is totally different from where I started. My Blender version has some different things, extra stuff mostly, probably bc the course is a couple years old, but it's still super good, everything works just fine, just in one lesson the c shortcut for moving the kife tool in degrees was changed to a, but other than that, it's all the same and you can perfectly do this course and learn a lot of stuff to motivate you to continue your 3D journey.

Finally, finally, finally, after quitting Blender four or five times now out of frustration and being simply overwhelmed, I found this course and I've learned, surprisingly quickly, the core fundamentals and understanding I needed to get legit started with this massive application. Blender for Complete and Total Beginners gave me the spark I needed to get my engine running, so to speak. Thank you, Chris. I'm positive I can actually enjoy the software now and will be starting your 3d acoustic guitar designing course soon. -Paul

I am 100% new to Blender. No prior experience whatsoever. This course is very well organized, and the instructor does a fantastic job of explaining what we're doing, how we're doing it, and "why" we're doing it this way. I encourage anyone who is an absolute beginner, just like me, to take this course. The modules are separated into bite sized pieces, so you will not get overwhelmed with overly long modules. At the same time, the pace is set that you won't be bored. Lastly, I had a question (and complication) with my final project and Chris did a stellar job at coaching me through that process. Highly recommend, and will definitely be learning more from Chris!

Chris has a gift for teaching! The absolute best part of this course is how well it is put together. I haven't touched Blender in 8 years. I decided to choose a course on Udemy to get me back up to speed. I can say that 8 years was enough time for Blender to change beyond anything that I remember. So getting a course was the right decision. I struck gold when I chose this one! Everything is explained in detail without moving too fast or too slow. I was able to complete most of the course without pausing (most of it;). The basics are covered plus a few cool little tricks. I will be upping my Blender knowledge with another course very soon and I've already decided to stay with Chris's courses for Blender. If you're new or even not-so-new and need a refresher on basics, then this course covers all of that very efficiently!!

I am a retired high school teacher. I taught engineering, 3Ds Max, GameMaker, and Unity in my classes. I decided to learn Blender and see what all the fuss was about. My students often said how much better they liked Blender. So I purchased several courses from Udemy. This course has been wonderful. The instructor is excellent at explaining and demonstrating the concepts. I find blender so much more easy to use than Max. I think is is much more useful and intuitive! It's been a real eye-opener. If you are new to Blender, this is the starting point for you!

By Steven Lange on 4/22/2021

This is systematic instruction. Blender has many critics because the interface and key commands are counter-intuitive at first. I took extensive notes on the many hot keys that are needed to reach any speed at all in Blender, the extra time is a good investment. Chris is phenomenally well-structured and easy to follow through the most difficult task - of course you will need to stop the video often to keep up in real time. His engaged but calm and pleasant voice is reassuring. Five stars and a big thank you.
