Course Description
Have you ever wanted to create digital illustrations, but felt overwhelmed by professional art software?
Clip Studio Paint is one of the most popular programs for digital illustration, comics, manga, and concept art. However, for beginners, the interface and tools can feel intimidating at first. This course is designed to simplify the learning process and help you build a strong foundation from the very beginning.
Instead of jumping straight into advanced techniques, this course guides you step by step through the essential tools and workflows used by digital artists.
You’ll begin by setting up Clip Studio Paint correctly, choosing the right version of the software, configuring your tablet, and creating your first canvas. From there, you’ll explore the interface, navigation tools, layers, brushes, and the basic workflow used when creating digital artwork.
As you progress, you’ll learn the fundamentals of drawing and coloring digitally. You’ll practice linework, understand how the color wheel works, and explore important tools such as clipping masks and the lasso tool. You’ll also complete shading exercises that help you understand light and form.
The course then moves into more advanced coloring techniques, including gradient maps, blending modes, and custom brushes. You’ll learn how to create richer illustrations with better lighting, smoother rendering, and stronger material textures.
Finally, you’ll apply everything you’ve learned in a complete illustration project where you’ll sketch, color, shade, and polish a full artwork from start to finish.
Throughout the course, the focus is on practical learning and real workflows, helping you understand not only how tools work, but also how artists actually use them during the creative process.
By the end of the course, you’ll feel comfortable navigating Clip Studio Paint, creating digital illustrations, and continuing your artistic journey with confidence.
After taking this course, you will be able to:
Create digital illustrations confidently in Clip Studio Paint
Use layers, brushes, and coloring tools effectively
Apply shading and lighting techniques to artwork
Build cleaner and more organized art workflows
Create polished beginner-level illustrations
Export artwork for sharing or portfolio use
Continue learning digital art with a strong foundation

I learned quite a bit about how to make drawings look more consistent in terms of color and texture and about how the teacher approaches her drawings. But about the actual topic of this course, Clip Studio Paint, I only learned a few shortcuts and features of the software while hearing (in my opinion) annoying music and watching her process. If you want to learn more about digital painting in general and you happen to use Clip Studio Paint, this course is for you. If you want to learn more about the software itself this course is only partly helpful.

The techniques and tips in this course were great! I found them useful for my projects. Watching the instructor work through their choices of layers and colors has helped me understand why something works and why it does not. I would definitely recommend this course to someone struggling with how to use Clip Studio Paint.

well so far it has been more explained than on the actual program it self i have had mine for roughly 2 1/2 years and still have a hard time understanding it on YouTube they either time laps it or wiz through before you can grasp the concept of how to go about using it so far it has been shown how it is meant to work just bare in mind i have a slower way to learn so it may take me time to get the hang of it and even several attempts to get there. this tutor has gone to great lengths to explain in detail at my kind of pace which i am grateful for thank you Amanda

TLDR: Art 101 course. Not about learning Clip Studio Paint. there's a lot of little gems that can be gleaned sporadically throughout this course, but it isn't about learning how to use Clip Studio Paint at all. The instructor teaches more about their art style and how they render their art in this program rather than teaching how to use the program itself. If you're just starting out I'd recommend finding a course that is strictly about how to use the software; this is not that. Application buttons and other functions aren't explained very well and it's hard to follow along on screen. Nothing is highlighted for ease of reference and you're left to track the mouse; which jumps all over the place. wait to get this on sale if you're adamant about getting it and be prepared for a beginner art course.

I'm only at the introduction of this course, but I have some feedback already. I'm a 62 year old male and I'm finding the information contained useful, but the presentation method slightly irritating. The tutor rambles all over the place using jargon, expressions, and techniques without explaining what they mean. For a beginner this is frustrating. I will be sticking to the course and hopefully the tutor's style settles in a bit.

From the title, I was expecting a complete course on the features of Clip Studio Paint. Instead it was a brief beginner's introduction to the software followed by five long digital painting tutorials/demonstrations. Occasionally new tools were explained (very briefly and only incidentally) during the painting, but you shouldn't have to watch someone paint for three hours to learn about two functions. The painting tutorials were okay, and even instructive, but from the title of the course I expected to walk away with a reasonably complete knowledge of using Clip Studio Paint. I feel the course barely even scratched the surface, and this course needs a different title VERY BADLY and IMMEDIATELY. If I had paid full price, I would request a refund. I got it on sale cheaply, and so I think I got my money's worth, but am disappointed. And now I have to find somewhere else to learn to actually use Clip Studio Paint.

It's one of the best ClipStudio courses I've done, because it not only shows how to use the tool, but also how it develops different illustration techniques. Some videos are a bit slow because there is a lot of silence, but they are worth watching

Overall a good course. Being an advanced myself, I can safely say that, It won't make you an expert as the course title claims, BUT an extremely good starter for beginners who don't know anything about csp. This onlyu cover hand drawn art NOT animation. overall, I enjoyed instructor's soft narration, slow, and clear instructions.
