It is an image processing software that is a more than interesting alternative to the most famous Adobe Lightroom. After working on both Darktable even have more features than Lightroom in the image processing. Darktable is even more complex in my opinion because many points are far from intuitive.
Darktable specializes in RAW processing, which is a non-destructive raw data format. Indeed the changes are saved compared to the original file which is kept at any time and thus allows to have advanced treatment. The software has two main modes: the light table mode for importing and classifying photos, and the black room mode for editing photos.
Today if you want to work on photo editing with free software, and you do not want to go through a subscription in Photoshop and Lightroom, use Darktable. It's really a reference and this tool is extremely powerful. Come beautify all your photos with the advanced features offered by the software. Very interesting. Need to go through it a few times, and refer back also. I will go through again and make notes. There are masses of controls, and by the end you have a good understanding for improving both Portrait and Landscape photos.
