Our take
Based on the ratings of 7,399 students, a sample of their written reviews and the syllabus, as the course stood in August 2026. No course pays to be reviewed.
This is a short introduction to design thinking, built for people in business who want the method laid out in order. Jamal Lazaar, a trainer with a project management background, walks through empathy, definition, ideation, prototyping and testing in about 91 minutes across 30 short lectures. It is pitched at developers, analysts, designers and product managers, but nothing in it assumes experience. The only requirement is an open mind. More than 20,000 students have joined, and the 4.4 rating comes from over 7,000 reviews.
Reviewers keep coming back to clarity. They call it concise and easy to follow, and say the examples and visuals help. Lazaar's pace gets credit as comfortable, though one learner struggled with his accent at first before getting used to it. The complaints are less about the ideas and more about delivery. Several low ratings describe videos that stall or crash, and others find it repetitive, slow, or a bit unrealistic for a real team meeting. One reviewer felt it covered nothing new.
At 1.5 hours it is a fast survey, not a workshop. It was last updated in August 2026, so it is not stale. Expect a vocabulary and a small toolkit, plus one quiz, rather than hands-on coaching. For someone new to the topic, it is a sensible first pass that costs little time. Anyone who has taken a similar course will probably find little new, as one reviewer did. Test the video playback in the first few lectures, since that was the most common gripe.
Pros
- Short lectures cover empathy, definition, ideation, prototype and test in order
- Reviewers call it concise and easy to follow, with concrete examples and visuals
- Comfortable teaching pace that learners say makes everything easy to understand
- Updated in August 2026 and comes with a certificate
Cons
- Several reviewers report videos that stall, crash or buffer, even on fast connections
- Some find it repetitive and slow, and want a shorter cut with fresher examples
- Only one quiz for practice, and one reviewer found it added nothing new
Easy to follow course and great techniques to add to the toolbox
All Levels fits: it assumes no background, just openness, and suits newcomers more than practitioners.

By Luuk van Berkel on 2/20/2026
very clear and consise, I learned a lot. but I do think the showing the actual image that shows all the steps in the design thinking process, would make the flow, where you are in the sequence more clear. after I belive step 2 we do not show it in the beginning of the video anymore when we start a new step. Other than that I think it is a great training to understand the fundamentals.

By Barbra Declaro on 12/29/2025
The concepts were broken down into more digestible segments which makes it easier to understand. This course also gave concrete examples with visuals that also helps with the discussion.
