This is a great crash course for beginners wanting a crash course in rapid prototyping using Unity. The instructor starts at a brisk pace and wastes little time getting into the creation process. The issue that I have is that this course is really high level and just touches on the features and techniques used throughout. This served as a mere introduction to subjects like coding or game art, but I would have liked to have spent a little more time on some of the subjects before moving on.

No tech support, sometimes the code does not work and when you put the question on the board, none answers, I noticed questions up for a year with no resolution, if you do this course, you are pretty much on your own if something goes wrong. The lessons are not well explained, you need to find somethings on your own and if it's your first time using Unity, you will be pretty lost, I am a professional C# programmer who is getting into gaming programing for the first time and even though I know the language very well, I am having difficulties understanding what is going on and hence, I am not able to fix the problems that arise from it and when I look for help, nobody answers... The game is cool, the characters are good art but if you intend to learn how to program your own game in this tutorial (this is why we bought it right?!), move on and find other courses that can teach you better in Udemy, there are literally hundreds of them... As for me, I will finish this one up and see where it takes me, I do have a problem that I can solve it so far but I will have to do it on my own apparently.

This course was awesome to learn. There wasn't much coding, but there were a lot of in between pauses to get the setting and coding right as the course seem to be a little bit of a rush, but that what the pause button is for. This is an improvement compare to another video course I've taken. I changed the rating from 3 to 5 because I forgot this course provided the assets. I usually like to start from scratch and learn from the beginning. So, the missing content like building the animation were already given as the video hence the skipping of certain step of showing us. Thanks Nao. For everyone, this was a simple short course, but will get you up and learning how to make a 2D Platformer game. There are some great techniques and methods in the teaching.

This is a very good course!! I learn so much things about 2d plataforms development and about the Unity. The course is fast and don't explain some basic things, so, if you are a completely begginer with Unity or Programming, I think will be hard to you

A great course, goes through the basics on what you need to create a Platformer in Unity and some intro to save management and PlayerPrefs. The Enemy types are rather simple, however, and aside from moving platforms there aren't many obstacles, and our character couldn't fire projectiles or quickly dash. There also was lacking a death or reload scene when the Player died, or points or health pickups when enemies were defeated. Overall, pretty short compared some other courses, but everything is clear and the Assets that this course comes with are free.

I'm at 75% in the Complete C# Unity Game Developer 2D course, so I'm still a beginner but with some knowledge of Unity. This 2D platformer course by Blackthornprod goes fast, but not too fast. It shows all (or at least a lot of) aspects of 2D game development, making it look easy along the way. I enjoyed seeing the different solutions/approaches, as compared to my other course. While this course may not give you a complete understanding of the why (and it certainly doesn't claim to do so), it does give a broad overview of the what and how. Most likely I'll be subscribing to more Blackthornprod courses (if I haven't done so already...)

Great course! As an intermediate game and an experienced C# programmer but a noob with Unity, I found this course exactly what I was looking for. Helps me understand how to use Unity to build the game I've envisioned... I would not have known where to begin without Noa and Liam's help!!

I am totally fan of the hyper productivity of Blackthornprod. This course allowed me to get into his work process. The instructions are clear and direct to the point, very oriented to get the best production results in the most easier way. This course was perfect for me because I am already familiar with Unity and I have done some small projects and I needed a re-fresh and and inspiration to get back into it.

Pros: You learn the structure of a 2d platform game in regards to a main menu, advancing from one level to another, player health, weapon pickups, destroying enemies, switching weapons and some game juice. All in all I learned a lot. Cons: This is constructive criticism; The game you create is extremely basic and for beginners. But at the same time, this course is not very beginner friendly. They frequently skip steps and expect you to know what you're doing. Or they will show you something they implement to their game (on their computer), but won't teach you how or why they did what they did. For instance, clouds moving in the background and the falling particle effects from the sky. I just think it could be better structured and they could go into more detail in certain areas. Structure: 1. Let's build level 1 a. Place platforms and obstacles throughout the scene. b. Create the background and foreground c. That way, when we build the character we can run around immediately 2. Player Character a. Put the sprite together b. Write the movement script c. Write the wall jump script d. Animate the character e. Save as a prefab 3. Enemy Chars a. Structure same as player b. damage player c. enemy death d. player death 4. Health / Weapon Pickups 5. Game Juice and Sound Effects 6. Lets Build Level 2 and 3 7. Main Menu and Pause Screen 8. Level Select Decent course. Thank you for teaching it.

This course was a good match for me. I like the pithy explanations and quick videos. Although, at times I do wish there was a bit more explanation of some things. Overall, I am satisfied with this course and will continue to build my games using many of the methods taught.
