Course Description
Focus on what actually matters: This is not a course where you will learn bunch of things in a very shallow way. You are going to get really damn good at JavaFX. Like a real programmer, you won't worry about the buzzword of the day because you will have fundamental skills to pick up things on your own. You will be working on real-time project. This course teaches you how to start developing rich-client desktop applications using your Java skills and provides comprehensive coverage of JavaFX 8's features.
Learn the JavaFX you need for professional development: Most courses focus on the syntax and features in JavaFX. They will talk to about controls, shapes at a very shallow level but in this course you will learn how to use them in building a software.

Very great course for those who want to learn JavaFX quickly. They left out quite a few other concepts, but it provides you with the necessary information to get started then pick up the rest on your own. Absolutely recommend this course to whoever is in a hurry to learn

A very basic course, it stays mostly on layouts and controls and does not cover what I expect to be important topics, like FXML or the scene builder. I fast-forwarded lesson videos most of the time because they are very straighforward and repetitive. Explanations are clear though, and may help a beginner in never loosing a bit of what is being said.

this right here helped me tremendously in my transfer from java to javafx and i did it bluej because doing it that way doesn't give the option of clicking on that light bulb to add things in, which forced me to memorize things, i'm definitely going to do this again when i feel i need a refresher.

This is one of the best GUI courses I have ever taken. I started with almost none existent GUI design skills. however, this course prepared me for my project I had to work on. Thank you for such a good course and clear explanation.

Fine. Exactly what I expected to fetch about basics of JavaFX UI coding approach only. One may think that JavaFX is totally dead thing. No. It isn't. Its separated from JDK and together with OpenJDK as OpenJFX maintained as open source and still living. You can do multiplatform UI the same way on windows, macos, linux and even the same code approach use on android and ios through special ahead-of-time compilers using GraalVM. Such native code approach is currently in active development and in fact, JFX is deployable also to embedded devices as Raspberry Pi and similar size. Using new Java11/GraalVM is possible to use also new features of java language, which is currently evolving faster than in previous years. Reasonable stability/conservatism of java ecosystem and tooling is one of its strenghts though - that's why almost everything enterprise in banks and telco runs on top of Java too and its HUGE. And WILL run. Forever. Probably. :-)

Dear Deepika, This is a very good course and for sure you have a great teaching talent. All important issues are gathered into the preliminary presentation before going to code, which is really good. However, I have some comments which might help you improve this course: 1. This course covers JavaFX basics so you should not say to people that they will become JavaFX experts after this course. 2. It would be great to add additional content to this to provide your students much better start in creating their own GUIs, such as: - more focus on visual aspect tuning or adjusting, - at least 1hr dedicated for using CSS / XML in JavaFX, - multi-frame GUIs and transferring information or objects between frames, - handling alert windows, - The calculator project is nice and simple, but it lacks at least 2-3 lessons for visual tweaks. Hey, this is JavaFX after all, and whatever we do here should look like a tasty cookie. 3. It is really good that you repeat some basic information in each lesson, however - after 10th time it may no longer be necessary to explain that you need to create a scene and attach to the stage and use this time for some additional valuable information. If the information I have mentioned in point 2 was included in this course I would give 5 stars. But so far I can afford only 3.5. All the best, Piotr

I'm more than halfway through this course and have learned a lot. I bought this course after my college teacher failed to provide explanations on what we were doing in class when working with JavaFX, it was just senseless coding and not any explanations. The instructor is great, I have followed along and found myself completing all of the classwork assignments from school for this month after only watching half the course. Totally recommend this to someone who wants a no-nonsense course.

Coming from Scene Builder I felt I should learn more of the nuts and bolts of JavaFX since I soon realised not all JavaFX functionality is included in Scene Builder. This was a great course to get the basics of JavaFX into my head and is full of practical exercises to complete as I went along. I've saved all the projects of this course into my IDE to have a handy reference library for the future.

I enjoyed Deepika's class. Yes, she had an accent but she was clear and very much understandable. I felt that there were a lot of repetitions - for example, no need to keep repeating about the "import" statements after the third section. I loved the short sections and examples very much. I will take more classes from Deepika if it peeked my interest. I would like to get a copy of the source code in the end in one place. Overall, GREAT class!!!

The course certainly helped me to understand the core concepts behind JavaFX. In overall it was really easy to follow and and the courseexplained every concept it tackled. However, it is worth mentioning that the teacher repeated the same things over and over again which was quite irritating. Also, after finishing the course I feel like I know that the JavaFX is a powerful API but I'm not aware of everything it offers. Personally I would have liked to see more diversified examples of event handling and perhaps some mention of the MVC architectural pattern.
