It's a beautiful comprehensive course that goes over the essentials and then some. I am improving my overall musicianship as a beginner multi-instrumentalist who is getting back into music since 2015. This course stands alone beautifully and stays true to what it offers. I purchased a different beginner jazz course that told me I should already know the basics prior to it, but this course doesn't mislead. I purchased a beginner blues guitar course that was excellent, but it focused more so on feel and phrasing, which is great for that context, but paired with this specific course, I get to understand music theory in a way that is appropriate for me getting better at guitar and understanding music which will make me easier to work with musically. I find this course to be quite humble despite how sophisticated it is and it is a blessing to have found it and started it right after purchase. The PDFs are quite easy to read and collection.

(I finished part one). The course is well structured with lots of information and theory step by step. Every class so far has been fun and I noticed my progression. Dan explains things well, however, I had to google some things extra, because I didnt get the point quickly. I do not think that the course is for completely beginners, becasue there are lots of difficult chords in it. In my opinion you have to know the basics to be able to enjoy the class (basic chords, chords swiching, how to move your right hand, etc...). I am also not sure if I will be able to memorize more chords and shapes, which are about to come.

Awesome! looking for secretes to unleash your jazz guitar playing? Here is an amazing place to be. Some basics are explained in a very easy to understand. Especially on a trick how to know the TAB! You'll be surprised how easy it is to relate and understand. So, this is definitely a worthwhile class to join. Thank you Dan! Also, by the time you get done halfway the course, some vital secretes are shared and no one could ever reveal clearly and precise as Dan did! Truly, some beneficial theory solidifying the foundation of guitar playing has been helpful. Thank you Dan!

I have been following four courses of Dan until now. Maybe, that was not necessary because the first one is more a sort of beginners course. However, I try to complete it as well because at times that is refreshing and the further you go you get new insights and ideas as well. Until now I Always considered myself as a moderate guitar player who could play a lot of songs using open chords. While these lessons have lifted my knowledge and I have become a better player. Not that I will ever be a really great player, but that is not my aim. One step at a time I try to improve and his lessons are easy to follow, he takes time and repeats stuff and it is good that you can go back to videos. I was a bit afraid to start this jazz course, for I thought this would be way to up for my level. Nevertheless it encourages to do more soloing. Okay, this will take time and practice and trying to play ahead with some of the exercises is at times still too difficult. Well, it learns me a lot more about the constitution of chords and extended chords, the fretboard and the different scales. So, if you want to learn more about playing guitar even if you are not into jazz at all, I can recommend this course for it it really helpful.

It's a comprehensive tutorial but... 1. The lessons are based on memorized patterns than actual jazz theory 2. There are wrong claims (like minor penta scale is same as blues scale. It's actually penta scale + b5) 3. The guitar is not his go to guitar and apparently has tougher strings so he has problems fretting and picks harder to produce the note. That causes unclear tones 4. Guitar has a terrible voice

I enjoyed this course, and found that it really grew on me. I went fairly quickly through the earlier sections as I was familiar with most of that material already, but still found some useful insights and practice ideas. The intermediate/advanced material on chord substitutions and progressions was perfect for me: you need to have a reasonable grasp of theory, but the requisites are all explained as you go. I found that I picked up a lot of great ideas to improve my own practicing and build up confidence soloing. The presentation is simple but clear and there are PDFs for each lesson with chord charts and progressions.

Excellent course! Dan is an great instructor - very clear instruction and also clear explanation about application of what has been shown. I am a beginner/intermediate player who has recently started digging into music theory, and this class has really clicked for me. I, however, do not recommend this for a complete beginner. I recommend you have a solid grasp of chords and solid playing time under your belt before attempting this course. All the best to you!

Still on the first few sections of the course. Great, knowleadgeable isntructor. I wouldn't recommend this to a beginner though, as even though Dan Dresnok takes you through the basics, even that part requires prior experience with the guitar. Don't come in if you just picked up a guitar. Play some chords and maybe know your way around basic scales, like the pentatonics! The course is outstanding if you're an intermediate player.

This is really an awesome Jazz guitar class. I've been playing guitar for years and when i considered to learn more deeper theory, i know it's time to learn Jazz. but i have known less about Jazz and less musician of it. Luckily, i found this course of Dan teaching Jazz guitar. He's very nice and humble, not showing any shining skills but just teaching us steps by steps and patiently. It's an overall Jazz course from basic to advanced. And it's appropriated for students like me want to learn jazz with guitar basics. It's simple but you can learn the bones of Jazz and won't make you frustrated. I really expected Dan can release more advanced classes after this course.
