While this course is very good and I'd definitely recommend anyone taking it. However, I'd like to provide some feedback about some of the videos where some bugs were found but did not address that in the end of the video. The instructor demonstrated a "working" code in the end of the video. Instructor only reveal the bug in the next video. This has cost me a lot of time trying to debug and solve the issue BEFORE going to the next video and make more changes. I finally fixed the bug after spending quite some time, when I go to the next video the instructor revealed that there was the bug in the previous video and provided the fix.

This is one of the more worthwhile courses I have taken in my efforts to learn Unity game development. The instructor paces his lessons very well, and as the learner goes through this course he/she will appreciate the fact that the code generation on screen is accompanied by explanations of what is happening and why. The end result gives the learner exposure to how the component systems of this RPG relate to each other and serves as a good example of how to have the core component systems of a game interact with, and depend on, each other. I would urge prospective students to not be put off by the level of graphics they might see in preview videos, as the course uses free assets so as to make them accessible to all without having to pay extra. In relation to the game UI, there is a lot of valuable examples of how to construct a GUI using the Unity canvas, and these examples work very well using higher graphical quality UI elements. While it has been pointed out that the use of Scriptable Objects (that get updated within the game) will lead to issues in the build version of the game, if the learner has completed the course and understands how the components work, by that stage it would be well within their capabilities to modify the code so as to avoid writing data to the Scriptable Objects in-game. Overall, this is an excellent course and I am very glad to have taken it. Highly recommended. Should the instructor release subsequent courses in a genre I am interested in, that would be an instant buy.

Great course! Many advanced topics. And those intro videos in the start of each section imo must have for every course on Udemy. The only thing i wish be more info is FSM and more types of enemies like ranged enemies or those who calls backup when see player. But overall great course and i can recommend it.

Course is pretty good in terms of learning new systems. You need to be a rather experienced developer in general to follow the concepts. If you are it is no problem at all. I would however like (at times) more of an explanation upfront (in each detail video) of what we want to achieve und why we use certain variables. It will become clear when the lesson is over most of the time, but it is better to have t explained when we add things.

He spends a fair amount of time fixing bugs that have nothing to do with the section name, and his fixes are also ad hoc (e.g., he radically changes the way Mana is handled in Damage Enemy). The use of demonstrative pronouns is so varied that it is difficult to tell what he is doing just by listening to him. We have to watch carefully what he is doing, during which time it is difficult for me to operate Unity and the course takes longer to complete.

So far so good - up to section 7. Easy to understand (though you do need programming experience), and in small chunks, so it isn't overwhelming. Some minor details: -Maybe he's a little too quick in some areas - I'm a fast coder, but I can't keep up and have to keep pausing and rewinding. -Some of the tile setup is tedious, but I just did a fraction what was said. -The codebase had some "code smell" and inconsistencies, but nothing major. -There is a bug with the death animation, if you start the game up with zero health. Ignore it as it later gets fixed. Edit: Now that I've finished with the course, I did have some more issues: -There was code that used "?" to null check, which should always be avoided for Unity as Unity overrides null checking. -The text centering could have been done easier - there is a geometry center and midline option. -The course ignores sound, which I think is very important when building an RPG game. -The game features are not polished and can easily break/glitch. Overall, I still think this is a worthwhile course for the basics.

(This review was translated using GPT, so some expressions may be incorrect.) I have been working in the game industry for 4 years and have taken several courses to learn new development methods. Since I have little experience in developing 2D games, I took this course, and I was quite satisfied with it. Here are the pros and cons of the course: Pros: - The course provides excellent resources to create a complete game. - The explanations are clear, and the consistent approach to implementing each feature made it easier to follow along. - The idea behind the FSM (Finite State Machine) implementation was amazing. Cons: - The code design could be better. Specifically, the UI manager has too many responsibilities, and new methods are added whenever new UI elements are introduced. - However, since this course focuses on implementation for beginners, I didn't find this to be a critical issue.

You explain things so thoroughly, line by line about what the line of the script does in such an easy to understand way. Too many other teachers teach with the Monkey See, Monkey Do method with very minimal explanation and assume everyone is as knowledgeable as they are, but yours doesn't, your method is very easy for beginners to understand

By robert Kudlovich on 4/29/2024

Takes his time to explain things really well, and uses good coding practices from what I see. This is a very comprehensive course, definitely not for the beginner coder. I am a beginner, and some concepts are way over my head. Will need to go through this course a few times.

I'm from Brasil and this is really the first course that I've been able to follow with enthusiasm, the teacher teaches very well in a simple and clear way, the codes are fun to learn, he has great teaching skills, even for me who only learned English by watching movies . So I recommend it to everyone!
