I’m Phil Ebiner, an educator, photographer, filmmaker, and founder of Video School and Photography & Friends. Through my online courses and creative community, I’ve helped millions of students around the world learn practical skills in photography, video production, design, and more. My goal is to make creative skills feel accessible, useful, and encouraging, whether you’re picking up a camera for the first time or looking to take your work to the next level.

My teaching style is clear, supportive, and hands-on. I break complex topics into simple steps, explain the “why” behind each technique, and share real-world examples you can immediately apply. As a photographer and filmmaker, I believe great creative work is not just about gear or settings, but about storytelling, intention, observation, and connection. Thank you! Though, I believe that maybe it would be also helpful if you can have more live tutorials on setting up the camera on the spot.. some camera can still be a little intimidating.. I have Sony A6000,, after watching this class, I still feel a bit intimidate as if I can execute and apply the Long Exposure- Slow Shutter speed application properly. Overall, I am happy and satisfied with the course. Thank you! Lorraine

The remaining question I have is what is the best lens to use when shooting a long exposure. I ask this because I love shooting with my 50 but I also have two kit lens for my cannon t5. Since we need to buy the ND filters I need to match my filter with at least one of my lens. Which one should I go with? Other than that question, I loved the class. It was short, to the point and ver clearly stated. Oh yes, by the way the streaming on the actual shoots was very slow and I had to wait many times for the video to move on. This was annoying. However, I didn’t know if it was my device or the program since this was the first time I have had streaming problems. Thanks Queenmother45@comcast.net

I believe the instructor has excellent knowledge of the subject taught, but could have portrayed it a bit better. He often stumbled on words, jumped subject/material during instruction, and had some distracting mannerisms. Im not trying to be overly critical, as I believe he has great potential and knowledge on his subject, but needs to fine tune his presentation. Also, I wish he would have provided the exact name of the ND filter app he uses. An inquiry via the apple app store provides several choices but inability to narrow down the one used in the course.

Great course, taught me a lot about the use of Neutral Density Filters to get long exposures in the daylight. I have not had a lot of experience using ND Filters. When talking about remote releases and cable releases he did not mention using the camera's timer to remove camera shake. If he did I missed it. He also said nothing about using Variable ND Filters. Over all a good course though.

Loved the way Phil teaches - well-paced and lucid. Two thumbs up! It would have been nice if the editing was shown using Photoshop (CS5 in my case), but then Lightroom isn't too different. Thanks Phil! I look forward to signing up for some of the other courses by you. Time to go out and practice the lessons learned. See you.

It's a short Course, Easy to view it in a single day, but straight to the point. It teaches many important details about shooting long exposure, and if you have already experience in it, or you try practicing during taking the Course, you will it's high Value. I recommend everyone to watch it,

Thanks Phil for such a nice course, it is easy to understand and quite helpful. It will be more helpful if you share some more setting for NIKON. I am trying with my bare hand and with tripod. I am happy with the result. Day Nikon d7000 Shutter: 1/5 sec. Aperture: f/16 (55mm) ISO: 100 Night Nikon d7000 Shutter: 1/2 sec. Aperture: f/7.1 (55mm) ISO: 200

Perfect amount of light-hearted humor and excellent material! I will surely be taking your paid course when possible $$$. FINALLY! I shoot with a CANON 6D (as you do) so I'm thrilled to learn about the BULB shooting etc...I'll shoot you an email. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH!

This is a clear and concise introduction to long exposure photography that does not over complicate the processes and reasons behind creating great photos of moving objects. Practical examples aid the understanding process and seeing is believing with some of these special effects you can create. well worth the time to spend on this course.

I've been interested in long exposure for awhile, so this course was helpful. I would love to see an example of a night photo after doing the lake and the fountain examples. I know the editing part is based on preference, but having a few guidelines (like you had with camera settings) would be helpful. Overall, thank you for putting together a wonderful mini-lesson on long exposure!
