Course Description
Would you like to be able to code in one of the most important, influential, and popular programming languages ever created? Perhaps you're frustrated by the limitations and inefficiency of other programming languages, but intimidated by C's fiercesome reputation.
Would you like to to be able to create compiled, native apps?
Not to worry, this course will demystify C and show you how to leverage C's incredible speed and efficiency.
Unlock the power of C with this hands-on programming course designed for those with a bit of coding experience who are ready to dive into the language that has shaped modern computing.
We'll start by discussing C and its unique characteristics, and from there, you’ll learn how to work with variables, use control flow statements including loops and conditions, and we'll delve into compound data types (arrays, structs, unions).
As the course progresses, you’ll learn how to structure your code with functions and you'll gain a deep understanding of pointers, one of C’s most potent features.
You’ll discover how to manipulate strings, leverage useful standard functions, and how to handle text and binary files for data persistence. We’ll unlock the power of bitwise operators, explain how to effectively use the preprocessor and macros, and we'll cover error handling so you can create robust, reliable code.
The grand finale? We’ll pull everything together as you create your own animated screensaver-style program: a stunning "particle fire explosion" animation.
By the end, you’ll have the knowledge and confidence to write efficient, high-performance C programs, and a visually striking project to show off your new skills.

I like this course, I did the Java course before and that was very good and so is this one, Since I knew the basics of C , I skipped straight to the project and doing it by myself I am learning a lot of new things. This made me understand why people say " learn by doing projects ". I have never seen anything else that made me learn so much before, wish I could have found such good courses earlier

So far the course is going great except for the setup of VS Code, had a hard time getting it to run due to WinMain issues, but I have finally figured it out and am off to the races!

This was a great C course. I have had others in Python and C++ so the pace was really good for this course. The graphics animation piece was such a great bonus. Printing text on the screen is one think, but adding color and animation is a quantum leap. I found it super helpful to put various blocks of the code into Claude and do more step by step explanations. This allowed me to tweak certain parameters with less risk. I'd definitely do more work with C from this instructor.

C is beautiful, and with this course taught by this professor, you really "get" it, and you really learn how to program in C. If you're a programmer that wants to get their hands on this fundamental language, look no further: this is it.

An amazing course, and since this isn't the first course by John that I've taken, I can add "as always". John has excellent teaching skills. I like how this, and his other courses, are structured, with lectures where he always speaks in a calm voice and gets straight to the point.

Excellent pacing, clear explanations, able to teach what you "can" do vs should do vs shouldn't do, and comprehensive exercises.

For me this was a nice refresher course to get back into C programming. It was far from the usual boring learn a language course and what you learn is building you up to the next steps and eventually the graphics demo which was also a nice touch.

I love that John's voice is clear, he is straight to the point. And he explains what is going to happen.

I am a beginner, and the lecture is clear and easily understood. I just finished Lesson Number 4.

If you want a concise 'fireship' style charge through of the C language, then this is the course for you. Super suitable for people who have learnt C before and want to 'brush up'. Totally recommend.
