Mastering Yii 2 (Udemy.com)

Difficult to follow. Audio often out of sync with is shown on screen. The author just reminds to read official Yii2 docs pages. I needed something better than somebody say "to know how it works, just browse to...". Disappointing.

This course is mediocre at best. for a "master yii" course, I expected way more. Was looking more for some advanced yii topics, not things like "lets use bootstrap!" -- the few features "taught" that are advanced topics, like rbac is touched on so little it may as well not be in the series. There's like 6 videos on caching, and a 2 minute blurb on something like RBAC that really merits more time spent on it. and ACF only a mere mention of it nothing more.

I was hoping the course would cover more on working with the framework itself, like how to create a shopping cart using transactions or show data passing and manipulation that isn't covered in starter tutorials (my fault for not better investigating before purchasing). That said, I've learned some great things so far, and I feel this course helps ensure a secure and fast application with concepts I've not seen covered elsewhere.

There is some valuable knowledge given in the site but the depth of content was just not there compared to other courses. If you have experience in Yii2 like I do and you would like some more information on the features you probably haven't used then buy this course. Just note that a lot of it is high level and you'll still need to be reading and combing through a lot of the Yii2 documentation.

It is called Mastering, and it says that it is for Expert level, however a lot of functionality and subjects are just "mentioned" or briefly described. almost 20% of each video goes on the Intro of what we did last time, intro of what we will see, and outtro of what we just saw. F.eks. RBAC functionality, which is pretty important for any website is just covered in one video with "we've done it all for you" code and attitude, and after watching it you basically have no idea how to use it. Same goes for Codeception testing (not a single test is shown) and other topics

In my opinion, this course (and few others from Packt Publishing) is not worth its price. Each video starts with "we will learn", but you are mainly shown with the general concept, not actually learning anything completely. You are much better with just reading the documentation on yii2 website.
