Course Description

Want to Take Your PowerPoint Presentation Slides to a Whole New Level?

You may think you know Microsoft PowerPoint, but you don't know Jack if you don't know how to use advanced animation to bring your boring static slides to life.

Your PowerPoint slides may be information-packed, but they may also lack visual impact if you're not familiar with the use of shapes, WordArt, and SmartArt.

Your presentations are going to collect dust on your computer if you don't learn how to produce and share them on the Internet.

Hi, My Name is Brian, and I'd Like to Teach you Microsoft PowerPoint

We'll begin by reviewing a set of orientation lectures that will familiarize you with the Microsoft PowerPoint window and screen layout.

Next, we'll cover the basics of PowerPoint, in which you'll learn to create simple, bulleted item-based presentations.

Then we'll learn to insert visual elements into your presentations to add impact and help convey your message.

Finally, we'll explore advanced animation techniques and discuss how to record and share your finished presentations online.

If You're Finally Ready to Learn Microsoft PowerPoint, I'm Prepared to Teach You

In this course, you'll learn everything you need to know to use Microsoft PowerPoint like a professional. I'll teach you the basics from the ground up, add some intermediate elements, and conclude with advanced automation and presentation production techniques. This course offers comprehensive Microsoft PowerPoint training, covering beginner to advanced levels.

You'll learn the basics:

  • PowerPoint Window and Screen Layout

  • Creating and Saving Presentations

  • Inserting, Deleting and Moving Slides

  • Editing Slide Contents

  • Configuring Slide Transitions

  • Adding Simple Animation

Then we'll add some intermediate flourishes:

  • Insert pictures, text boxes, shapes, smart art, tables, charts and graphs

Finally, we'll finish the course off with some advanced topics

  • Advanced Animation

  • Advanced Presentation Production

Instructor Details

Brian Jackson

Hello,

My name is Brian Jackson. I'm the author of about a dozen books, the publisher of well over 100 books, and a Udemy instructor with over 40 courses.

This is my story...

1 Origins

I was born in the middle of the last century in Los Angeles, California. I graduated from Humboldt State University, surrounded by the redwoods of Northern California. After 14 years at Lockheed Missiles and Space as an IBM system programmer and 12 years at Cisco Systems as a test engineer, I retired at 48.

I instantly became bored.

2 Community College

To break the boredom, I enrolled at Columbia Community College to take writing, art, acting and statistics classes. I took 24 units over one year and received straight “A”s.

I was still bored.

3 Writing and Self-publishing

I began writing fiction and nonfiction books and self-publishing them on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Smashwords in July 2011. Though I wrote and published several books, my self-publishing business didn’t take off until my wife joined me.

4 My Wife and Author, Melanie Jackson

Melanie Jackson, my wife, was an author publishing over two romance novels per year through her New York publisher, Dorchester Press. After publishing 24 novels with Dorchester, the company folded, and Melanie was without a publisher (she wanted to write cozy mysteries anyway).

I got a lot of good information about PowerPoint in this course and I am 100% comfortable using it for just about everything Excel can't do :-P This course was great and Brain Jackson is very responsive to his students. I would recommend his courses to anyone interested in these topics. They are quite logically arranged and easy to find the information you want to focus on. There is quite a lot of material in this course about making book covers, which I'm not sure I'll ever use, but it was good to know for creating and exporting higher quality jpegs and pngs.

It's obvious that Brian is an experienced instructor which makes this course warrant a 5 star rating in my book. He does an excellent job of taking you through the basics so you will be prepared for the more technical aspects of PowerPoint. He explains PowerPoint's features and processes so you can understand them. He expertly demonstrates how you can take any feature and use it for your own project, no matter what that might be. He shows you how to use PowerPoint to plan, create, edit, and present your project, whether in front of an audience or in video on YouTube. If you are making any presentation, developing a course, making a video commercial or just a handout, this course is for you. I highly recommend it.

At the beginning I was afraid there was not going to be anything new in the course but there were some short cuts that I did not know, and as someone who had basically taught myself all of the new technology this was great. As the course went on it became more fun and enlightening. It was great to se someone who enjoyed what they were doing and liked teaching others to use it in practical and fun ways. Throwing in more shortcuts and time saving tricks would be the only thing I would think to add. Thanks

This is not up to advanced for what I need. The course says beginner to advanced, but this is not advanced. Looking for instructions for motion and action and nothing here.

Warning: Don't take this course unless you want to learn PowerPoint IN DEPTH. (Well, you could and just view the first part of the course if you wanted only that and would get great value out of it.) Brian covers it all, in a really logical, methodical, complete, cohesive, engaging and intelligent way. I opened up PowerPoint to follow along, and did the simple assignments which helped drive home the lessons so fully expect to be pretty much an expert by the end of the course. PowerPoint is a pretty powerful software application these days. Way better than the Dark Ages when it first came out. (Ewwww) I'm REALLY glad I am taking the course. I think it's the best course I've taken on Udemy so far.

I am a Practice Director for a very large Consulting giant. I am very impressed with the style and pace of presentation. Although most are basic features still, the way they're presented seems to enhance their power. Great work. As I got to the end, sure enough, there were advanced features on Animation and I am glad I took this course. Highly recommended.

The Microsoft PowerPoint 2013 Beginner Through Advanced Course certainly lives up to it's billing. It is well organized and easy to follow. From PowerPoint Orientation through Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Training Brian walks you through the process step by step. This is the eighth course that I have taken with Brian and will continue to do so. He is well organized, knowledgeable and keeps a good place. I would highly recommend this course and any of the other Brian Jackson course listed.

By Barbara Workman on 5/19/2015

This course contains material which is suitable for users at all levels of knowledge of PowerPoint 2013. There are three sections which make it easy to jump in at the level of expertise you feel you have. However, even though I already use PowerPoint 2013 in my presentations, I decided to start at the beginning of the course. The Beginner and Intermediate Training sections provided good review material for me and I was glad I started there. The Advanced Training section contained some material that I hadn't learned before. The material is well covered and the instructor does a good job of presenting it in a friendly yet informative manner.

Even if I had some experience with PowerPoint I have learnt a lot from this course. Brian explains not only menus, slides but also presents great examples on how to use everything, step by step . Even if you use/have another presentation software,or previous Excel versions, you are going to learn anyway. I followed the course using libreOffice and Google docs and the things Brian explains apply also to them. Maybe menu items are located differently but the logic and workflow is the same. I hope Brian adds some slides or new course for those of us/you who use opensource software.

This instructor is simply amazing: each time I take one of his courses I find out new stuff, things that I wasn’t even aware they exist. Brian makes teaching such a pleasant experience for students and he has both the talent to teach others & an immense knowledge about what he teaches. In fact I think that large corporations should hire him as their human learning database. :) Incredible, as always. And by the way, he also has a great voice and a very good diction. Thank you Brian!
