Course Description
DISC is a model of human behaviour that helps you to understand why people do what they do.
The dimensions of Dominance, Influence, Steadiness and Compliance make up the model giving insights into a person's personality intelligence and their intrinsic motivation. These dimensions interact with other personality factors to describe human behaviour.
This online course has been created to help you apply DISC behavioural principles to working in situations that involve influencing and selling or as part of a team.
By understanding your inherent behavioural style and then learning how to determine and appropriately react to the buying styles of your team members, customers and clients, you will be better able to communicate, motivate, convince and ultimately influence more buying decisions. It will help you to develop more engaging relationships.
Everybody has their own style based around their behavioural preferences. Each person instinctively acts according to their inherent style. Team members will act out their styles in team working. Customers will act out their styles in buying situations. Salespeople will feel more comfortable selling according to their natural style.
Being able to identify the behavioural style of other people will give you valuable insights that you can use to establish rapport, open lines of communication, build trust, motivate and influence. Ways to work with each behavioural style will be explored along with techniques to enhance and improve your interactions leading to better communication.
The course is designed to give you a deep understanding of behavioural styles and goes into detail about
The four behavioural styles of DISC
Each style's strengths and liabilities
Do's and don'ts when interacting with High Dominance
Do's and don'ts when interacting with High Influence
Do's and don'ts when interacting with High Steadiness
Do's and don'ts when interacting with High Compliance
How to assess a person's nonverbal communication
Gaining a greater sensitivity to others around you
This online course will give you some insights BUT developing your influencing skills will take you time and a lot of effort, and even then, you are not going to get it right all the time!!
This course will, also, be of interest to you if you have completed a DISC Behavioural assessment in the past and would like a refresher. You may have discovered your Behavioural Style through a work-based training programme, by completing a questionnaire or through general interest. Your Behavioural Style is a blend of all four styles, but one is usually dominant. It all made sense at the time, but you have forgotten what it all means and how relevant it can be to how you engage with other people.
This course will, also, be of interest to you if you lead or manage a team and are looking at ways to build understanding and develop relationships leading to more rewarding interactions and high performance. It will give you an understanding of the relevance of Behavioural Styles and how they can be put to work.
Provided within the course is a questionnaire, which gives you a good indication of your dominant style(s). This is not a commercially available psychometric. By completing this practical activity, you will gain an understanding of your DISC style to build your self-awareness of your behaviour that will compliment your learning.
A full commercially available DISC psychometric assessment is offered at a discounted price to learners taking the course.
By completing this course, you will be able to

The course also contains loads of material for you to download and use to with your interactions with others to help with your learning.
The course is featured in the Udemy for Business catalogue. A few people are instructed to take the course under duress by their organisation. The course has recently been given 1 and 2 star ratings from a number of learners without comments for some reason. I am not sure why this is. I have thanked each person and asked for some feedback that will help me to improve the course and offers of help in understanding the material. I have had no response and so I am unable to address any potential issues within the course that I am unaware of.
Interestingly, understanding the DISC preferences can explain why people leave low ratings without comments. This behaviour is discussed within the course.
The course is being continually refined and updated to ensure it remains current and relevant.

Hi. I'm Robin Hills. I am an emotional intelligence coach, trainer and facilitator with over 40 years' business and commercial experience. I provide knowledge and skills that help people understand themselves and others better.
I have the most comprehensive range of on-line courses based on emotional intelligence in business - not only on Udemy but anywhere on the internet. I am not teaching any other types of course as I am a specialist in emotional intelligence and it is the focus of my business.
In early 2024, I was presented an Honorary Doctorate in Advanced Studies in Psychology in recognition of my contribution to online Emotional Intelligence training, which started with Udemy back in 2014.
My courses go beyond the fundamental basics of emotional intelligence covering many aspects of how it can be applied in day to day work to lead, grow and develop people in ways that build authentic relationships.
My work takes me into small start-ups through to large corporate multi-nationals and into the Public Sector with financial institutions, government departments and health departments, as well as charities. This provides me a practical understanding of how emotional intelligence works and applied in the real world, enabling me to keep up to date with relevant issues.

This course offers fantastic insight into the DISC model, supported by clear, practical examples. The activities provide a valuable deep dive into understanding each of the four DISC styles, helping to bring the theory to life. I highly recommend this course to anyone looking to better understand their own DISC style and how to interact more effectively with others. Completing the activity sheets is especially beneficial and really enhances the overall learning experience.

Although I have taken a similar course in person on this subject matter, I found your course to be well presented and enlightening. It reminded me of several personal traits that I possess and also pointed out that my traits have shifted since the last time that I took that course. I expect that these changes occurred due to my environment adjustments and changes in tasks assigned to me over the years. VERY INTERESTING! Thanks

Section 1 part 2 comes off very condescending and if he feels it is needed then he should reflect on the actual course and not attempt to blame shift and gaslight the student. As well as advising to praise in public and criticize in private on the heels of discussing the course review is unacceptable, the point to review is for both negative and positive reflection on the course. Against my better judgement I continued with the training because I had paid for it, I did gain some information and the behavior from the introduction did not repeat itself.

Course was well organized and thought out. Took the course at 1.5-2x playback speed and rewinded when necessary. This is a course where personal effort means you will gain more from it. The burden of learning is not solely on the instructor- this is a personal application/action-based course where you will only get out of it what you put into it.

I see applicability of my strengths and weaknesses in the model. I have been thinking of personal examples (contacts and colleagues) while going through the course. The pace of explanation and checks on learning are appropriately situated throughout the course. Adding one or two additional quizzes periodically may be helpful to aid retention. The British accent is always soothing and pleasant. I disagreed with the poor reviews for the oral delivery. I enjoyed the timing and cadence.

This course was assigned by my company's CIO. I found the information to be very informative, interesting and clear. I have not worked with these people long enough to recognize their specific DISC behavioral styles or how to work better with different styles. I believe the knowledge I gained within this course will help me as I get to know my co-workers.

It is a very good course from a theoretical point of you. There are exercises and quizzes very suitable for auto-reflection. The information is clear, precise and relevant. I especially liked the section about conflict approaches and emotional intelligence for each style. However the presentation mod is rather monotonous, and does not engage very much as the presenting style limited to slide information (the text on slides appear step-by-step as presented by speaker). Also I needed to set the pace at 1.25.

This is an amazing course, all about different styles. I like the pace and style of the presenter and the way the course is presented. I prefer to see the information in an entertaining way rather than being told it. This way loads of detailed info is presented making it a very comprehensive course.

Great lecture. Very clear and engaging. Learned a lot about myself. Looking forward to applying what I learned to real life. One last word, I like to thank my instructor, Mr. Robin Hill, for going beyond the subject matter, just to show me: (1) how to make the lecture slower/faster according to my liking and needs, and (2) how to print my certificates. He is a true teacher at heart!

Great course. I have in the past faced tough situations with my least preferred behavioral style people and more often than not I had to loose my job due to lack of conflict management. With this course, I have learnt (in fact started to learn) how to manage relationships with people having those behavioral types with more perseverance, observation, practice and getting along with them using the required techniques as described. The practical sessions are very important to be followed and practiced to get full benefits of the course. I will have to re-watch the content more often to be able to practice them in real life. It was really a wonderful life experience with this course. I am really enlightened. Thank you so much Robin. I will surely recommend this course to anyone struggling to succeed in dealing with workplace behavioral issues.
