PHP for Beginners: How to Build an Ecommerce Store (Udemy.com)

Overall a very worthwhile course. The instructor is enthusiastic, easy to understand, and pleasant to listen to. I particularly found the Paypal & Stripe integration very useful. There is an emphasis on using Bootstrap and SQL to do most of the heavy lifting. Javascript is almost non-existent in this course. The style of this course is a bit non-standard. In these types of courses, you would expect/assume that the instructor has done it all at least 1 time as a practice run, fine-tuned it, then do it all again but this time recording it. Here, it would seem that this is the first time this instructor is looking at the code and solving problems on the fly. This does offer a bit more of a "real-world" setting and it's impressive that he knew the commands and syntax extremely well. The part that I found particularly tedious was during the few hours there is alot of cutting & pasting moving code around which got old really fast and there is too much navigating around to find "just the right spots" to cut & paste especially since the original bootstrap code had ALOT of unnecessary white space. With all that said, I would definitely take another course from this instructor.

Really good course. Quite old now as I write this in 2023! But you can learn solid PHP and build a functioning ecommerce site without any frameworks like Laravel. So it's beautifully simple. The course forces you to understand what's going on (in a good way). Unlike other Udemy courses I've taken, where the instructor just tells you what to do, in this one, Edwin makes you think about it and figure out the big picture. Edwin is a character and will bring a smile to your face!

Course was truly great. All you would want in a professional setting: lecturer dynamics, encouragement, challenge, focus held, etc. Truly learnt alot after I resorted to this needed course. Experienced downfall was the practical side. I was not able to experience or walk away with a running application. Help was provided, but I was eventually saddened particularly after some of the suggestions were ones which I initially offered; it felt like a merry-go-round. Other suggestions were already in place, but to no avail. Overall, great course and material but with a slight downside - getting an up and running application after constantly reviewing videos.

rated this course on 2.5 stars because: escape string is out dated and anyone can break it, change it to PDO. ninja edits outside the videos Q&A staff has little time for the customers, or it seems class planning is a must prior lessons. the teacher has good knowledge in the subject. teacher needs to make a lesson plan, it is noticeable that not much of a plan has been followed. furthermore 'ninja' edits outside the videos throws the students of balance when they go to the next lesson. course is ok if you really want to be debugging on your own, since the staff will be telling you to do it by yourself anyway. i dont ask help for any mistake, but only when i need and they just brush you off.

Edwin knows his subject matter and he has a great teaching style. He is perfect except for one major flaw, he doesn't provide the completed code at the end of each lecture or at the very least at the end of each section. It is very difficult to follow what he does in the videos at times and it would help immensely to see the code without going over the video 20 times to get it right. If your code gets corrupted somewhere along the course and you're not sure where you made the mistake, then having the code at the end of each lecture would help you recover and move on with the course. I never was able to complete my PHP for beginners course because of errors that I could never find, having the correct code at the end of each lecture would have got me up and running again.

This is the fourth course I have finished with Edwin! In the past I have bought courses but I could never finish them! His constant positive motivation is the reason I have finished (4) of his classes. He is a very enjoyable instructor to listen to and presents his classes in an easy to understand format. This one is no different! You do not want to miss this if you are looking for a great intermediate PHP course and you get to build an eCommerce website as well!

very valuable information in this course, Also, i think some lectures may put the wrong section. such as Section 15 104.Fixing Quantity for Paypal should put in Section 7 which is Paypal API for Payment Proccessing . Section 15 110.Showing Products Based on Quantity should put it in Section 3 which is Product Function . Thank.

This is the second course I have purchased from Edwin. The first being php for beginners. If you follow Edwin's simple explanations you can truly go from, no understanding of Php to a competent web developer. I have now built two web sites using these courses, both with front and back end functionality. If your going to invest in anything this year make it these two courses.
