Ryan Dhungel's free short course is a starter kit, not a bootcamp. Just under three hours across 32 lectures, split into three parts: a 72 minute modern JavaScript refresher, a 54 minute React section, and 43 minutes on React Hooks that ends with a small news app pulling from an external API. It is free, so the obvious audience is anyone who wants to know what React feels like before paying for one of the huge bootcamps it sits beside. The requirements ask for basic JavaScript or any other language, and the first section is there to patch the gaps.
Reviewers mostly land at four or five stars: roughly 3,000 fours next to 4,000 fives out of 8,300 reviews. Students say the explanations are simple and clear and the pace is easy to follow. The complaints are what a short free course invites. Several reviewers want more examples or any exercises, since there are no quizzes or coding tasks. One reviewer felt an explanation of click handling did not match the code on screen. Another found the voice understandable but non-native. One says it needs an upgrade because it is six years old, though Udemy lists an October 2025 update.
Take it for what it is. The syllabus covers React basics, hooks, and fetching from a remote API, which is enough to read other people's React code and decide whether to go further. It does not touch routing, Redux, Next.js or testing; the full length courses alongside it, like Modern React with Redux or the Complete Guide, go there. As a free warm-up before one of those, or a quick check on whether React is for you, it earns its place.

The Trainer is explaining evrything in a very simple and clear way for us to understand and be conceptually clear about everything.
Truly beginner for React, but the requirements assume some JavaScript or another language; the first section only refreshes JS.

Great course taken as a prerequisite to the paid course. Started out with zero react knowledge and on unsure footing. But, towards the end of the course, everything started to click, and it all made sense. The way Ryan shows both class based, and functional react is amazing for understanding, and really shows what a great teacher he is.

He is very clear and really touches on the nooks and crannies of the basics that are needed for later on. A lot of lessons out there miss these points and do not have clear explanations on why they are used.

Many lessons I've learned as a beginner, such as ReactJS's basics, fetching API, React Hook, etc. One thing that maybe could be improved is that there's a bit of subject that is not explained on why it's being put in there. Almost all basic things are covered although I don't know much. It's good for beginners as all lecture have practical coding sample which helps people to understand and visualize better.

I think the introduction to SE6 was very good; but with ReactJS would be nice to have code sample available & more explanation on the react JS life cycle. Also, I would have liked to know best practice on how to join components together. Moreover, I felt the explanation was a little too fast.
