This is by far one of the best courses I have taken so far, and for people who are eager to learn scripting should take this course. The instructor's lectures are easy to understand and answers every question asked. I would say this course is worth spending my money on, as it covers through lots of learning material and would personally recommend it to anyone willing to program in Roblox.

This is a fantastic Roblox course, targeted perfect at the Intermediate level! You'll spent 2/7ths of the course creating a reusable toolkit of common functions within the Roblox platform, then apply those through a couple of small projects before wrapping the course up with the development and deployment of a camping survival game. If you've completed an introductory course in Roblox and have a taste for more, this is the course to choose. Brendon keeps the course pretty up to date as Roblox release significant changes to their APIs, and he is very responsive to student questions and comments. I'd love to see an Advanced course from Brendon, and in the meantime I'll be taking his NPC Quest System and (new) Crop Farming courses. If you've tried other courses, or if you just want to learn more about Roblox coding, then this Intermediate course is highly recommended!

Coming from his previous course, this one is a good expansion to further learn and understand how LUA is used with the Roblox Studio engine. Compared to some other content I've seen, he spends more time explaining what things do and how it works and why you'd want to use one method over another. The first portion of the course covers a lof great details of how why why to use various techniques and creating toolkits for current and future projects. The second half of the course which is game focused has some really great concepts, but to be perfectly honest, it's not as good as the first portion. There is still a lot of excellent information and I think it is worth taking the time to go through it. However, I constantly found myself at the end of videos having many problems. So while I followed the video step by step, on the video I was watching would have a working concept ready to move to the next video at the end, meanwhile I'd be struggling with errors or things not working right and going back through the video to see what I missed. I even started a few section over from 100% scratch just because I couldn't find what I did wrong. As it turned out, there were edits and changes to the code that were not shown in the video. So even though I had done it exactly as presented, it never would have worked because the code was incorrect. The benefit of that for me was it really forced me to understand what I was learning. Because there were some times I made a typo and caused an error and have to troubleshoot. But since so many videos I'd come to the end with errors and it not be my fault, from someone new that is learning made me unsure if it was me or because of code corrections not shown in the video. So as a new learner, I'd prefer to have an error-free experience so that if I did make a mistake as I followed along, with no question I'd know it was my fault. So it took me a long time to get through it but had I known there were errors in the videos and corrections now shown before hand would have made my inital run through a much smoother experience which is why I am mentioning it here. So although it has a mix of premium quality instruction and information and omitted fixes and not as clear content, in the end you end up with a mostly functional game. For me there were still errors in the camping game that makes the game break at night for example for a bit where I can't pick up apples anymore, rats get infinite yeild possible messages, nil errors; which some are addressed in the video like the trunk in the axe script, but there are more. That said, based on what I learned, I have the knowledge to at least know what to look for and make my own custom tweaks to the game. At the end of the day that is the result I was looking for. Just the 2nd half of the course made me question myself more than necessary and was a bit confusing but if you know of the situation in advance, the info provided in those sections are still very useful and I hightly recommend the course. Brendon is also very responsive on the Q&A section of the course so if you do have questions or come across something, he's always willing to help. That adds a lot of value to the course as well IMO.

The author's another beginner course "learn how to code games in Roblox studio" was slightly better. Although some little flaws say he didn't use built-in parent when doing Instance.new, he typed something wrong and didn't edit it out, it's a waste of time. But this course was not up to par. He still not editing the typing errors at times, when some of us could easily spot the mistakes but he still continued and spent the next 1-2 minutes trying to prove to us that mistakes like these happen. And the author didn't specify when to use ReplicatedStorage or ServerStorage and why to use it. He just asked us to follow along. The code worked but we wouldn't be able to reproduce the same codes without understanding the why/when/how. Merely knowing "what" isn't enough. I do appreciate the author's breakdowns of the code snippets in the middle section, sometimes we just need to know how to achieve some effects, it's a lot better than repeating the part.Touched:Connect() a dozen times. I'd prefer author to do a few snippets before a project showcase, so that we'd know when/why/how to achieve the results wanted.

Like the previous course, the course teaches programming concepts in Roblox in a very solid and very understandable way. There are two small points of criticism, which is why I only give it 4 stars: 1. the course provider, Berndon, doesn't seem to care about answering the questions in the course for some time. There are some questions that have been unanswered for a year. 2. some methods used are outdated. For example, BodyPosition should no longer be used, but AlignPosition should be used instead. However, the presented way still works in such cases.

Thanks for an excellent course! im learning a lot with this and highly recommend to others!. The reason i gave this 4 stars and not 5 is because there are a few sections where the result does not work. And we are left to go through the Q&A to find other students with the same issues to try find the answers to the problems. Which can be a good thing as it makes you think, however, i would prefer that there be a short video after the issues to resolve them and explain what went wrong. But overall, very good. Thanks again.

I've finally finished this course after having completed his beginner's course, and I have to say it was a ride: hours upon hours of taking information in and typing out all the code tidbits and managing all the projects whilst watching him go at it as I'd pause and reflect on what it was he was doing and saying so I could understand it the best I could. But I think that ride will be worth it because now I feel much more confident going into programming with Roblox Lua. This is something I don't think I have ever been able to say before, that I feel fairly confident in the language (despite many considering it easy to learn, and I would somewhat agree with that sentiment... but my younger self would beg to disagree! XD). All this I did partly to prove to my brother that I can in fact code and develop games on Roblox! hahah. This course starts with the most interesting tidbit that separates itself from the beginner course: the coding toolkit. I've gone and manually put together this toolkit on my own computer. I'm not sure exactly how useful it will be for later, but I imagine extremely when starting out at the VERY least considering it goes over some seemingly vital parts of game developing/coding. This part takes the longest to get through, but I'm a believer that it will be super useful and therefore super worth the time. Plus, if you actually go through the toolkit videos instead of just downloading the resources and you manually create the toolkit yourself, you'll gain an understanding of each toolkit item and how they work much better than had you just copy-pasted everything together. After that, the course resumes to a few sample projects. The game loop one I thought was a great touch, just because I always wondered how someone else might code a game loop. I've done it before myself, but the way this man does it feels much more efficient (and clean!). There is not much engaging about this course unless you are manually typing everything in as you go, which he has suggested at least once that you do to get the most out of it - but even then, there is not much fun to be had unless you really enjoy learning this kind of thing. I do personally to an extent, so I was able to push through with that fact + the fact that I would come out much more informed about how to code and such. He does encourage you to experiment with concepts and expand upon the sample projects if you like, I must give him that. Also he's got a great accent. :)) Overall, he's very knowledgeable about the subject without being snarky about the fact that he's so knowledgeable. He makes mistakes just like everyone else, as is evident throughout this course (he makes plenty and honestly I've had some laughs at some of the obvious ones lolol), and he makes sure to INCLUDE these mistakes in the course (he most probably doesn't intentionally make most of his mistakes, they just happen and he rolls with it), which I think helps give students a realistic idea of what actual coding is like (and they're a bit of a comedic relief when things feel boring or dry, as they often can). Thank you Brendon for these courses and your teachings; I will be sure to make quite some Wicked games for you and others perhaps to enjoy some day!

This course was what I was looking for to go a step further than basic courses. Super strong coding examples but some of the explanations were more descriptive than educational, which is fine but it left it to the viewer to sometimes put the pieces together. The authors' method for providing class resources is not very clear and the files need to be added to Roblox in a very specific way that is not very intuitive, furthermore, the author doesn't explain the naming convention until the 4 1/2 hours into the sessions. I eventually figured out how to load the files through experimentation but if this piece of information was given at the beginning of the course, where it belongs, it would have saved a good deal of confusion. At a different point in the series, the author tends to hand wave the fact that the video is in the wrong order but then a number of videos that followed were also in jumbled order which seemed like it could have been easily remedied with some editing or re-sequencing. These are pretty minor points but keep this series from being a perfect 5 stars. I have seen a lot of Roblox tutorial content and this is by far some of the best, most pertinent code patterns and examples you can find for roblox. I am about half way through the course at this point and although it might be considered remediation given this is the more advanced course...I am going to go back and purchase the authors basic course as well. I have a feeling there are many more tricks and examples he provides in that series that will be more than useful. This is really good stuff you can put to work in your games right away.

Finding good programming tutorials online that doesn't bore you with the basics is very difficult, so this went well and above my expectations. Very concise tutorials. I like them. Goes straight into content and isn't afraid to show good examples. It is quite fast paced, so I recommend that you take notes while watching videos to make sure that you are really paying attention. Check this out if you already have a basic grasp of programming in general as well as Roblox Studio. Also cheap considering it has 10 hours of content!
