Start & Run a Successful Web Design Business (Udemy.com)

I am learning web-design and have approached a few clients, one of which came back to me after some time after I had tried to convert another everyday meeting into a lead. The lead became warm and they took the bait but I arrogantly withdrew due to the long time they kept me waiting. Maybe I was in the wrong, it would have been my first sale. Now I am soliciting other business owners to get a website, however my web design skills are still minimalistic. I am working on getting better skills (a huge task) but also a more professional business approach in converting any leads into sales. Hence this course.

This is a great series for an absolute beginner. There are some pointers I was able to take out of the course, but for experienced individuals, a lot of this will seem a given. I would have given it a 5 but this course truly needs to be updated.

This felt like really surface-level knowledge. She covers a lot of topics, with a special amount of attention paid to customer service. It lightly touches on marketing and lead generation but it does not deep dive into strategies on how to implement your plan once you have one figured out. This was the biggest demerit for me because marketing and how to find quality leads was my largest motivator for purchasing this course. I would say that this course does a good job of setting the tone on how to approach different aspects of starting your business (and where to start looking for additional resources) but fails at taking an in-depth analysis of the really important aspects of being a successful, profitable business. She is teaching mindsets more than strategy. After completing this course and looking over my notes I still feel the need to look for supplemental resources to fill in the gaps.

It was okay, most of the info she gave you can find on her website and if you really want the actual information she sells it online :( very disappointed.
I did learn a few things that are old but still could work, and that is why I'm giving a start in a half.

It covers most of the bases you would want it to cover with starting your business, however it leaves out advertising methods for new clients

Great course! So much information and so many resources are provided in a very approachable way ...

Definitely has some good business advice related to web design. On the positive side, she definitely knows what she is talking about and gives good guidance on the basics of running a web design business. I'm going to check out her podcast because she is certainly someone worth listening to when entering this field.
However, if this course is still being sold in 2020 it should be seriously revamped and updated. Much of the course was filmed in 2014 and still not replaced! It's only 3 hours long and wouldn't take too much time to update the content to match web design is 2020. Describing this course as updated in 2020 is misleading...parts of it may have been updated but the course is still out of date. There are references to Odesk.com, which proves how old this course is since Odesk was re-branded to Upwork in 2015. In internet years that is a lifetime, and web design as a business has seriously changed since then! If it was up to date for 2020 I'd give it 5 stars. But I'm going to have to give it 3 stars because it is not up to date.
