Tableau Prep for Data Analysis & Business Intelligence (Udemy.com)

I thoroughly enjoyed the Learn Tableau Prep + Prep Builder course! It provides clear and practical guidance on data cleaning, analytics, and business intelligence using Tableau Prep Builder. The instructor's expertise and engaging teaching style make complex concepts easy to understand. Just one suggestion: it would be great to include a full project where we clean data in Tableau Prep, publish it, use it in Tableau to build dashboards and reports, and then incorporate additional raw data to see how the reports update dynamically with references. This addition would provide even more hands-on learning!

This provided me with so much information that I didn't have before. Will definitely use the information in my flows as well as correct some of my existing flows to improve performance. I've seen other training on Tableau Prep, but this was by far the most comprehensive that I have seen. I do recommend, if you have not done so already, to create an updated version of this training as I noticed a number of differences between the version that I am using vs the one you were demonstrating.

Overall this a good course to learn tableau prep and some shortcuts within the tool. There is a lot of repetition which is fine but feels like filler within the content and seeing as we don't actually do anything with the output in Tableau desktop isn't needed to the extent. Also marked it down as the join step lesson included a comment that there was a way of ensuring we had a more complete data set within the join. That would have been a nice bonus lesson to do this and show us how vs a simple 'you could do this, good luck' .

The course is good, but Maven focuses more on money than teaching. In this course, they did not cover Tableau Conductor. They will create a separate course to make more money. I enrolled into several POWER BI and Tableau Courses. When it comes to POWER BI, They have separate course POWER BI Desktop, POWERBI Advanced DAX, POWER BI Services etc. Other instructors have a single course covering all these concepts. The same with Tableau.

This was a good introduction to Tableau Prep's UI and how to use various Tableau Prep functionalities. I like the slides with a summary of what the various capabilities are before going into the demo for most videos. If you have taken another Tableau Prep training which covered just the basic field-level and step-level capabilities, you may find Dustin covering more content such as -Level of detail calculation -Organise your flows -Sharing your flows -Publishing your output data files (including a short discussion of Tableau Prep Conductor to schedule your Tableau Prep flow)

It is a very complete review for all of the functionality for Tableau Prep Builder. It definitely improved my knowledge on using the tools. However, this course did not give a picture of how all of the implementations in the course are necessary for implementing dashboard for the course project. Perhaps a small few minutes dashboarding from the implemented flow/ model would be great to make the course project more interesting and less like just a to-do list to follow.

Hi Udemy Users, This is an excellent course by Maven Analytics on Tableau Prep Builder. I have some experience in Tableau but I am totally new to Tableau Prep. I was really happy with Dustin's approach and teaching style as he has covered each topic in great detail and depth. I will surely recommend this course for anyone who is new to Tableau Prep. I would suggest some familiarity with the Tableau Desktop interface but it is not compulsory. Regards, Deepak.

A new Tableau course by Justin? I'm in! I've been a full-time Tableau developer for almost five years. I read and watch a lot of Tableau training. In my view, Dustin's is the best Prep training. I find ETL hard, but it gives me a much deeper understanding of the data. That's probably why Prep is covered in the new Tableau certification (Tableau Certified Data Analyst). However, Dustin goes much deeper in this course than required for the certification. I highly recommend Dustin's course if you're serious about learning Tableau.

The course is good for learning concepts and the explanations are great. However, one thing that I get a bit confused about are the homework. It would help more if there were specific instructions on what types of actions should be done on the data so that we can actually check our answers side by side with the completed version. If the instructions say to just filter, clean, rename, etc, it's too vague and we'll end up filtering, cleaning, and renaming whatever we want but doesn't necessarily match up to the completed homework you have.

This course is really well done. I believe it only scratches the surface of what this tool can do, but as a crash-course to get a decent knowledge about the tool it's perfect. Then it'll be up to you to keep playing with the tool and try out new stuff and get the experience you need, which cannot be taught. Dustin replied to all the questions always within 24 hours, sometimes within minutes - that was awesome and very helpful! The half star missing is because I'd love to have a little add on at the end of the course: a homework class (with associated solution video as for all the other homework in the course) asking to build up a new flow from scratch.
