While tutorial was good couple years ago, but it is outdated, meaning - if you have lots of extra time and patience - you will learn, but you will need to tinker. And further you go with it, the further you get from the contents of tutorial series. This tutorial seems to be good on itself, but it must be updated, cause not it is frustratingly old.

The course is really great. I think that for anyone thinking about getting into game development, this is a fantastic course to start with and build on. In short, you’ll likely have enough material and knowledge to move forward and even create your own game in the style and format he proposes. Alex’s natural and fun teaching style works really well. It doesn’t feel overwhelming, and the lessons are very well structured. I was just a little frustrated that some of the questions I had and posted on the forum took a long time to be answered, and I’m not sure, but I think some ended up going unanswered, so I had to move on. I also thought the multiplayer section was a bit confusing and disjointed; it strayed completely from the model that had been followed throughout the course, and I got the impression that it wasn’t done the way it should have been. I’m not going to deduct points for that because the other criteria were more than sufficient—this is just constructive feedback.

Alex is a fantastic teacher, of all the game development courses I have done, this one by far was one of the best! You can see a ton of thought was put into covering all the core concepts. Building this 2D platformer was fun and most of what was covered is relatively easy to transition into your own style. Thankyou for sharing your knowledge Alex.

If you don't like following along with someone, this course isn't for you. However, this is exactly how I learn. Alex takes the time to code everything and tell you why you're doing is just specific way. He will show you multiple ways of doing things, but of course he's going to go with what works best for the game we're working on. I like that he doesn't take the easier approach for everything, he makes sure we understand. There's a lot of repetition, but that is how people learn. It has helped me grow my skills, through watching this course, I have been able to better understand C sharp and been able to anticipate what he was going to do before he did it by halfway through the class. I will be looking for more of his classes in the future, I think his classes are the best that I have taken in The Last 5 Years.

I've upgraded the course rating to 5 stars because of the total content available in this course. It's a very comprehensive 2D Platform course aimed at complete beginners. Whilst there is a lot of repetition, I found this to be a very good learning approach. The scripting architecture is pitched at the right level for beginners and does not focus on 'correctness'. I would recommend the course to anyone who wants to learn more about Unity 2D Platform game development.

Coming from unreal to unity, I was prepared to know some things, but not all. If you wish to get used to unity, this is the course for you. You even have a fun game to play at the end of it. I have a lot of courses, and ill put it this way; This is the first course I stuck with until completion. 10/10

You are an amazing instructor. Of all the courses I have on Udemy and Unity, you are by far my favorite. You EXPLAIN what you are doing and WHY. You let us SEE your mistakes so that we can either try to fix them ourselves or watch how you resolve. I love how in each lesson, you demonstrate something new that can learned and recycled / re-used for future games. Great work. thank you!

Great course packed with quality content as always. The course got a little dry in the middle with 4 hours of UI lol but other than that its a solid course and I would recommend it to anyone. I havent quite done all the content yet, I still need to add the flying enemies and I didnt do the input system and co op version since I already know how to use the input system pretty well and im not planning on making a co op game any time soon, so for now, I'm done. Thank you :)

I enjoyed this course a lot and definitely learned a lot. Very clear, with nice pacing and enough repetition to reinforce learning by doing. I would estimate that this course is very good if you know the basics of programming and have some prior experience with Unity. It's ideal for Beginner++ type developers.

Great course!! Halfway through and I've learned a lot. Somethings aren't quite clear, but with practice I will master them. I love that he shows more ways to do the same thing and he chooses the best, most clean way, even if it's harder to understand at first. I feel like in this course I can learn everything I need to make the game that I have in my mind. I really recommend getting this course. It's hard to develop a game, but no one said it's going to be easy! Thanks Alex, great course!!
