Course Description

Ready to level up your game-making skills and step into the world of 3D game creation? Look no further than this comprehensive and standalone course, designed to take you through the process step by step, even if you have no previous experience in game development.

I've even included a 1.5 - hour crash course for those who have zero knowledge in Unity.  While it's better to have some experience and knowledge of C#, don't worry if you don't have it, because I'll cover everything you need to know to create an astonishing action-packed video game.

A unique asset pack of 3D models was created specifically for this course. Once you complete the course, you can keep these along with the scripts you'll create and use them however you like.

  • Throughout this course, you'll learn how to create a versatile player controller using an Entity Component System (ECS).    You'll discover how to setup New Input System, how to animate 3D characters, manage camera controls, and understand the essentials of 3D physics, including colliders, mass, and velocity.

  • Moving forward in the course, we focus on how to create an advanced and expandable weapons system, essential for any shooter game.  This includes creating a variety of weapons and learning how to setup both the logic and animations for visuals to bring them to life in your shooter game.

  • We're going to place a heavy focus on optimizing game performance and personal workflow to ensure the FPS doesn't drop below 120 and your project does not turn into an unmanageable disaster. At the end of each section, we'll clean up the project, and you'll have access to my projects for downloading.  This allows you to double-check your work or start from a specific point of the course, if you wish to do so.

  • In the next part of the course, you'll learn to craft challenging enemies for your game's enemies.  We're going to create melee enemies with different weapons and attack sets who use shields for protection, dodge your bullets, and throw items at you.  Ranged enemies can use covers to hide, throw grenades, and advance from different angles.  We'll also introduce two bosses with unique abilities.  All of this will serve as a great example for you to become very sophisticated in enemy AI design.

  • Then, we're going to learn how to design procedural level generation.  This system will allow you to create an endless number of levels, significantly reducing development time and ensuring that your game offers fresh, engaging content for players every time they play.

  • To improve gameplay even further, we're going to develop a quest system.  You will learn how to create different missions and setup different goals for the player.

  • Next, we'll build a functional and scalable UI to bring your game to completion.

  • Then, we're elevating the experience by integrating new gameplay element - CARS! You'll master creating a versatile car system, allowing you to fine-tune vehicle behavior in every way possible.

  • We'll finish the course by adding an audio system and visual polish, making your game not only engaging and fun to play but transforming it into an immersive experience that's both visually stunning and audibly rich. This phase includes smoothing out bugs and enhancing mechanics, ensuring every aspect of your game shines and operates seamlessly.
It’s about elevating your game's overall quality, ensuring it’s not just functional but exceptionally polished.

  • After mastering these comprehensive skills and polishing your game to perfection, it will be time to celebrate your significant achievement. This course isn't just about learning; it's about recognizing the hard work you've put into transforming your dream game into reality!

And there you have it! A journey from the basics to a fully polished, high-quality video game.
And you can start that journey with a single click.

as a self taught I can say that Alex is too. This is an excellent course if you want to learn new stuff while building but not for just learning or starting this journey. Why I gave 4.5 start, because this is not a beginner course even if he says all levels are welcome... He uses let's say 7/10 difficulty concept but then explains 10 mins of 3/10 concept. That's the only reason. Other than that this course is awesome

I agree with what some people are saying. The course content is very rich and teaches you a lot of tools and techniques. But the code quality is terrible—one of the worst I’ve seen. I’m a software engineer and just can't ignore it. I have two other courses from this instructor and I can say the same about them.

In my opinion, the course is very good and easy to understand. Yes, there were some minor editing issues at times, but they didn’t affect the final result. Yes, the course is long, but it’s worth it! Thanks to how much I learned here, I decided to use this course as the foundation for my diploma thesis, and it made my life much easier. Thank you very much.

The course was above and beyond my expectations. Having done other unity courses on udemy, I can safely say, an alexdev course is easily one of the most complete and comprehensive guide one can get from a single course at such a low price. The amount of systems and tiny details that alex has gone through to ensure the game feels and looks great is nothing short of astounding. He is very active on his discord and regularly answers questions and interacts with his students personally. Looking forward to making great things with the knowledge I have acquired.

The onset of the course is clear and saturated with information directed at helping a wide group of capability sets. 3 videos in and I am excited to see what else is in store. 4.5 stars Edit: I am currently at the half-way point and I find myself disappointed in the pace of the class. The instructor constantly makes mistakes. we will see how the latter half of the class is. 3 stars Edit 2: I have now finished the course. It took me over 5 months to complete. This is largely due to the length of the course combined with the overall difficulty in following along. This difficulty comes from the instructor making NUMEROUS mistakes, and then of course due to the nature of this instruction being video-segmented, I would spend an entire day looking for solutions to his design errors. He promises to "go back later and fix it" but usually forgets to. most times he will do things and then at runtime they don't work, so get used to him saying "what's wrong with you boy?". the class Q&A area is not very helpful and the Udemy AI is basic. Every single time i had a problem I was able to find and fix it by asking copilot. Because this course was not actually planned out thoroughly (you can tell), it becomes more of a follow along as best as you can kind of thing. there were various scripts or functions that were not critical to the functionality of the product. and while perhaps "neat", they often get in the way because they are forgotten about and cause bugs in the later segments. Ultimately this is a class that covers a wide variety of game functionalities and for that reason it remains valuable. The big grief is the instructor tripping over himself or being sloppy in the scripting which causes the course to take SO much longer than it should. You can tell the instructor is over it also by the time you reach the final video segments. He is very much "ehh I dont care about that, its good enough". This course would be so much better if the instructor was organized and explained the approaches and methods with clarity and certainty, rather than trial and error. I don't necessarily regret taking this course. Just how long it took because I was constantly trying to find out how to fix the instructors mistakes. 2.5 stars

I've already taken courses before this one and to be honest, I found it by chance... I said to myself: "One more course? What will I learn more than the others?". And finally, I am very surprised by the quality of the course and of course the teacher. He remains focused on the project and nothing else. The professor goes all the way with his idea and doesn't go overboard even if it was seen previously and I really appreciated this approach. I learned a lot from this course, and allowed me to have a better perspective/vision in game design. So thank you Alex for your course, if ever, it would be interesting to delve even further into certain advanced concepts such as animations, shaders for example. If one day you teach about it, I will be there! See you soon !

Since I have finished the course, I can say that this course is very educational. It will teach you a lot about programming skils, refactoring, design etc. It is a good foundation to develope the course into full fledged game if only the developer have enough time and will to proceed. From my point of view, since I have already finished several other courses, that overall this is one of the best courses that I have finished. My only remark is that at the end, the course end very fast. In my opinion it lack of at least one section and that is testing the final game and makeing a build. I have followed this course in Unity 2022.3.xx and it is compatible with what Alex is using. I didn't test it in Unity 6, so I don't know if there would be any difference. But overall, I'm very pleased with the course. You will learn a lot, it will depence on what level of knowledge with Unity and C# you are.

I've just reached the halfway point of my Udemy course, and so far, I'm thoroughly impressed! The content has been engaging, well-structured, and easy to follow. The instructor explains complex concepts clearly, and the hands-on exercises really help reinforce the material. The flexibility of learning at my own pace is a huge plus as well. If the second half is as good as the first, I know I'll finish this course with a solid understanding of the subject. Great job, Udemy! Highly recommend for anyone looking to upskill. Looking forward to completing the course!

After taking some coding courses on Udemy, I can personally say this one is definitely a level above the others. Not so simple and a little hectic, but clear, fun and interesting. I completed the course, (binged through it in a couple of weeks, and now I start following it from the start, recreating what I need, step by step). Basically, I find it a great bargain- you get an abundance of high quality game-dev material (the game assets alone worth the course price). It is evident that the talented author invested a lot of time, energy, and knowledge into this course, and it can be a useful tool for any game-developers (beginners or advanced). Highly recommended (Kudos :)
