Awesome Tuts

We Help People Master Game Development And Get Hired In The Best Game Studios In The World

Awesome Tuts is run by Fahir who has been creating video games and teaching people how to do the same since 2015.

I started my programming journey as an android and iOS developer but quickly moved to game development as that was my passions since I was 10 years old.

During the last 9 years I developed strong skillset in C#, C++, Unity, and Unreal Engine and have created over 100 games in both engines and published games on google play and apple store.

I'm also very knowledgeable about programming patterns, code structures and writing clean, readable and maintainable code.

But most importantly I'm very efficient in teaching others everything I know. During the last 9 years hundreds of thousands of students enrolled in my game development courses and I've helped them learn game development.

I've also helped quite a few people who I worked with closely, get hired in game studios.

If your dream is to become a game developer, master programming and fullfill your passions of creating games, then you're in the right place.

It's good: what I expected. I used this course as a reference to learn about specifics, such a data saving, where it helped tremendously. It is good to get a beginner accustomed to coding in libGDX. However, I don't think it is for complete beginners to programming (like me when I started). I just needed to watch a few Youtube videos on Java and this course was very easy to follow along afterwards.

Fahir from Awesome Tuts does a masterful job of teaching LibGDX. I had a tiny bit of experience with the platform before this course understanding maybe 25% of the language. What I learned here far exceeded expectations as this course content is excellent. Fahir is focused, entertaining, and clear guiding the learning path from simple to complex to advanced. I enjoyed his teaching style. After dabbling in a few other LibGDX courses I can say this one was the best by far.

Great course overall, only issues are in the first project, he talks about how libgdx is strange regarding object placement. This is vague and makes it sound like an issue with libgdx, when it was just due to rounding since he was using an int for scaling rather than a float. Also, while I appreciate the repetition, it gets to be a little much at times, where I feel more time should have been spent on explaining the components. (i.e. the differences between camera/viewport types, etc.)

This entire course is for desktop applications and he fails to convert his final project onto an Android platform correctly. After completing the "Jack the Giant" on the desktop, I was unable to scale the entire image to it's apropriate scale size. On the final video the guy played it on his personal device he did not show it to the students (I believe because it was'nt correctly scaled). He talks and talks about the same exact things over and over again which is highly unprofessional, inexperienced to be exact. I would NOT recommend this course to anyone, and I will not participate in any more of his lectures

I just started this course very recently, but I can already unequivocally say that the instructor is a great teacher. I can say this because as I have questions come up in my head, it is like he is reading my mind and answering and explaining these same questions in the course. The Q&A has been great as well, and my question which I asked on there has been addressed very quickly. Great work, and I look forward to the rest of the course!

This is exactly what I was looking for. I was searching for a great tutorial about lib gdx but with no luck, on the web or youtube and when I saw this one I bought it in an instance. This tutorial covers everything that you need to know, from java basics, lib gdx basics up to the most advanced features of lib gdx. I like how the explanations are slow, clear, and easy to understand and follow, and on top of all that you get to create cool games and see how you can use lib gdx in a game that you can publish online. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to learn lib gdx.

Explanations are clear and precise. It's very easy to understand how to perform the actions being presented. My only critique so far is that the instructor repeats himself a little too often which makes some of the videos feel a little bit long. It's easy for me to rewind a video if I want to hear something again but it isn't so easy to skip a repeat explanation since I don't know when it ends. Edit: Unfortunately, for the sake of honesty I have to modify my review now that I have finished the first project. Throughout the course, the instructor calls attention to a certain problem involving the inconsistent positioning of elements within the game. He hand waves these problems by saying that they are an example of "libGDX playing crazy" and simply offers a hack solution to correct the problem. I found, by looking through the questions and answer section, that multiple students have pointed out that the problem comes from a simple mistake on the instructor's part. This is not a problem in and of itself but none of the videos in the course have been edited (even with a simple annotation) to make new students aware of the potential issue and its solution. The further you go into the course without discovering the real solution on your own, the more of a headache it is to correct and I can't help but feel that it shows a certain lack of professionalism that none of the videos in the course acknowledge that there is a better way of solving the problem than using a hack. Even an update to the project's source code providing the real solution would be a big help.

The instructor is very knowledgeable in coding games and does a very good job of explaining the material. He is careful to go at a pace that is easy to follow and also references other game engines and how libgdx is different. I took this course because I wanted to learn how to build 2D games in a platform that I could actually build games I could sell without having to pay a license fee to use someone else's game engine. This course is perfect for those of us that want to understand the guts of game physics because some of the features that other platforms such as unity provide as part of the engine we have to build those out. This is perfect for beginning game developers so that we understand what exactly is going on in the background when we do migrate to the other game engine platforms available. I'm very glad I have decided to take this course and highly recommend it to anyone looking to learn from the ground up.
