Course Description
Have you ever wondered why your game animations don't quite reach the polished level of AAA titles like Alan Wake 2? It's all about the system behind the scenes called ALS, or Advanced Locomotion System.
In this course, we delve into the intricacies from the ground up, starting with idle animations. We progress through cycle animations, utilizing the latest features of Unreal Engine to ensure seamless transitions with precise distance matching. Additive animations bring a natural sway to characters while walking or jogging.
Pivot animations enhance the fluidity of sudden direction changes, followed by a deep dive into turn-in-place systems for lifelike motion. We cover crouching mechanics, master jumping animations for smooth execution, and synchronize all movements seamlessly with sync groups.
Moving onto firearm mechanics, we employ layered systems for organized code, coupled with advanced foot tracing techniques for realistic ground interaction. Weapon animations, including reloading and firing sequences, are meticulously crafted.
Audio immersion is key, adjusting footstep volume dynamically based on character speed, while visual effects like impact reactions and muzzle flashes add depth to the experience. UI elements, inspired by modern designs, provide vital information about ammunition and health status.
Pickup systems are modularized for flexibility, while landscape and procedural content generation are explored in-depth. Meet the formidable Kraken enemy, boasting a variety of attacks and behaviors.
But mastering these techniques isn't without guidance. Learn advanced debugging methods, from visual aids like arrows to blueprint organization tricks. Join our vibrant Discord community, where myself and fellow enthusiasts, like Max, are on hand to offer support and insight.
Embark on this journey with us and unlock the secrets to elevating your game animations to AAA standards. Let's begin together

This course is absolutely incredible. There is very little high-quality content about Unreal Engine available on the internet or on learning platforms, and this instructor is simply outstanding. The teaching style and the way each topic is presented, step by step and lesson by lesson, made this course worth every penny. I’m genuinely amazed and absolutely loving the classes. What I appreciate the most, besides the outstanding quality of the content, is how incredibly thorough the instructor is. You don’t just follow along—you truly understand what you’re doing and how Unreal Engine actually works. Whether it’s a Node, a Blueprint, an Animation Layer Interface, or any other system, you learn not only how to use it, but also why it exists and what purpose it serves, because everything is explained so clearly. That’s fantastic. I already have other courses from this instructor that I plan to dive into as soon as I finish this one. Congratulations to the instructor—you’ve done an amazing job! I really hope you release more courses in the future. How about one focused on AI/NPCs or even a complete RPG project? ❤️ Thank you so much for this wonderful content!

I believe if a product is great, you see on the reviews telling you "what this is not" instead of "what this is". So, I'm going to tell what this isn't. This is not a course giving you unoptimized, never-used in industry info to make something looking good in a short term but it isn't. This is not something that is aiming your tiny amount of dopamine to buy the course. This is not a course that you never going to watch more than once and forget 1 or 2 weeks.

Amazing course! I learnt so much it is unbelievable! I was always afraid of working with animations inside UE and wanted to have a deeper dive to have a fundamental understanding and this is exactly what I got! This course also opened up a lot of doors for me. For example now you can study the sample projects and know what to look out for and what is happening! I definitely do not recommend it for absolute beginners. You should have a basic understanding of the engine or else you will get lost. However, if you are looking to understand animations inside UE this is the best course I have found so far! Highly recommended! Note: I did skip the PCG and AI sections at the end, but for those interested it is a nice bonus! 10/10! Thank you!

As someone who has purchased and followed many of the instructor’s courses, including this one, I can confidently say: The instructor’s passion for teaching is truly admirable. Their knowledge of Unreal Engine is at a very high level. As far as I know, this is the only course that thoroughly explains Epic’s latest standard coding and technical structure — and it’s of excellent quality. I’m already familiar with the instructor from previous courses. I wanted to deeply understand animation, and when I saw that this course was taught by them, I purchased it without hesitation — because I knew I would definitely learn something valuable. The fact that the instructor demonstrates multiple ways to achieve the same functionality is sometimes discussed among students, but in my opinion, it’s actually one of the most praiseworthy aspects of the course. This teaching style has taught me a lot. For example, when studying code structures from different sources, I now find myself thinking, “So that’s why this person wrote it that way.” Everyone codes differently, and through the instructor’s varied examples, I’ve learned to understand why these differences exist. I truly believe that learning multiple ways to achieve the same goal is one of the most essential parts of mastering Unreal Engine. Rather than creating confusion, this approach actually eliminates it — it’s the most effective way to truly understand. Finally, I want to thank the instructor for the valuable knowledge they’ve shared with me.

Best course i stumbled upon after ploughing trough several ones in the past months. I felt like i was only getting fragmented pieces of knowledge in my head in other courses, and couldnt find the interconnections between these pieces of knowledge and how things relate with eachother. I am from a hardcore coding background, so in general i needed to get used to how object orientated programming translates into blueprints, but this course is what really made the it all click for me in the head. I like the short examples where you show people usually do things, or how it was used to be done in the past, and what the current best practise way is. Mainly because i could relate to the "bad examples", which made the "good examples/best practise" ways of doing it much more valueble to answer the "why" in my head. In other courses i usually get frustrated on how inefficient tthe blueprints looked compared to coding, but this course really showed me how you can use coding principles and best practises into blueprints which makes me able to still think, and use my experience, as a programmer and be able to translate it to blueprints, upscaling my skillset by a very big bunch in a very short time. Will definitely look into more advanced tutorials from you also, thanks for your efforts!

I gave this course 1 star because I kept getting stuck over and over again due to my own human error. I was also using version 5.5 of Unreal. I decided to give it one more try using the version the instructor was working with, and I haven’t gotten stuck since. Now, when I make a simple error, instead of going to Discord, I work it out myself, which has given me a slightly deeper understanding of Unreal. If you can stick it out until video 50, the course gets better as he starts showing you new ways of doing things instead of the old methods. For me, I spend 5 to 10 extra minutes on each video, not because I'm slow, but because I'm looking up why he's doing what he's doing to gain a deeper understanding of Unreal. That time can adds up fast.

I just don't know how to thank you. This course is amazing. Creating this course is incredibly difficult and I can only imagine how long it took. I got to 80 videos, and sometimes it didn't turn out exactly as you explained, but it did work out in the end. It wasn't easy for me. But I managed to do it with your help, thanks! Small and concise sections would also be good for doing basic things. This is very complex and by the time you finish it you forget what you were doing in your head. Thanks again!!!

This was a fantastic course and a fantastic instructor. I come from a software engineering background but am very much a beginner to Unreal and game development, but have taken a handful of Unreal courses here on Udemy and learned more from this one than any of the others. I really appreciated how the instructor took the time to show us the wrong way to do something first and explain why it was wrong before showing us the real thing. I found that to be very educational...too many courses just say to do X and not Y, and leave you wondering why. If I had to complain about anything, it is that I had to give up on the PCG sections halfway through because they weren't working the same way as the instructor's, but that's my own fault for not using the same version as him (especially considering PCG is still in beta and under rapid development by Epic.) I would happily take any course by this instructor, and to the instructor, all I can say is thank you very much!

I really like how everything is broken down into bite size chunks, makes going through so much easier. Everything is clearly explained and very approachable. The topics covered are new to me as are the different ways of using unreal engine. I appreciate being shown good methodology. I would recommend this to everyone, not just for animations, but for good practises in using Unreal Engine. My biggest criticism though however is there are still bugs and faults, so although at the start it mentions "AAA", it wont be quite that, but at least its a better base than you can get anywhere else.
