I enjoyed taking this course very much and learned alot. I did not use JS Bin code entry though, but Visual Studio Code (VSC) instead - I named each of the 20 project HTML and CSS files (and 2 JavaScript ones for the last couple of lessons). I have them for future reference. With the VSC autocomplete feature (Emmet) I was able to enter code very fast while watching the videos. With the Live plugin for VSC I was able to see the results instantly like JS Bin. The instructor teaches by example without detailed explanation of the syntax which lets us go faster - I knew some HTML, CSS, and JavaScript so I was okay with that. However, I changed ID# to class whenever the instructor used an ID more than once on a given page as a specific ID should only be used once on a single HTML page. When we got to Awesome Fonts, I found it virtually impossible to type all the code in the related CSS file so I used a link to the Awesome Font website stylesheet in the HTML and was good to go that way. The instructor is very creative and I was able to witness a designer at work. Thanks. The instructor has a pleasant voice - and it would be truly outstanding if the ahs, ems, and mouth clicking sounds were reduced significantly. I am glad the instructor stopped the 20-second video brand introductions after a few lessons. I enjoyed the short videos - everything broken up into small segments. At times the zoom in was not good enough to see the code easily. In summary, I learned alot, but I did alreay know some HTML, CSS, and Javascript from another Udemy course. The course was worth taking for me and I enrolled when there was a sale price so I thought it was a great bargain.

I am wanting to learn web designing as I am developing a career in it. The course was good till now. Slow and clear in explaining, which I like. At the fag end for about half a minute the screen was blurred; this was the only problem.

It was a type along course, so there was not hardly any explanation in detail of what the code meant. And I would have liked to had more projects that were not code along and would be more challenging that the instructor(s) and/or students would help in finishing the projects that were not code along. And there might have been some quizzes also. But if you are looking for a great code along course, this is a great one!

Overall the course was good for practicing building websites using html and css. The practice pages done in this tutorial looked very nice and smooth. If you already have some knowledge of the material but not much experience building good looking websites, then this is for you. However, I must say that this tutorial is definitely not very informative and doesn't do a lot to teach the fundamentals of web design to a beginner.

At times, I wish there was a little more explanation as to the why behind certain coding choices. Like, why adjust padding instead of margin? Or why go with div id's instead of classes, or div id's AND classes? Or what does "hr:before" mean? I think I understand why and eventually figure it out, but I think it might be interesting to include the "why" behind certain topics and choices.

The instructor is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the material that he is teaching. The delivery is very clear and engaging. My attention remains focused on each topic and lecture. The course lectures are very well structured - organized with a progressive flow. I have learned a variety of skills from taking this course and recommend this course for anyone who would like to become a web developer.

Excellente formation! Je suis francophone satisfait de ce dont je viens de voir. Le travail et la méthode vous donnent toutes les cartes pour enfin coder. Je recommande vivement cette bible de formation.

If you are starting to learn, This Lesson is for you.. Because what john is doing is he repeat things over and over again but every project you will be able to learn new Things.. which is very nice... But if you are in advance level.. you might do a lot of fast forward:)

This is just what I was looking for to practice my new skills of html & css . You get loads of practice giving you confidence to go ahead and be creative and to advance should you wish to Css3 fancy stuff. John is very engaging and clear in his teaching. Nearly all the sites are different in some way so that you throughly learn a particular aspect of html & css, a couple have javascript. Not only am I very pleased with my progress, I've bought the next one up Javascript much like this one giving me lots of practice. Many Thanks John

I have mixed feelings about this course. On the one hand I feel we get a lot of designs to practice and learn. On the other hand there are a few negatives which bring the course down in my opinion. For example, the lecturer does not answer questions posted about the course, or at least very rarely. This is quite infuriating. He also does not provide explanations of most things he mentions in his videos. Often he says, "you want to do this because... yeah because it looks pretty cool". Which I appreciate from a design point of view sure but how about a bit more technical explanation? I found that John introduced a lot of css without telling you really what it was doing and although learning by rote can work, learning with an understanding of what you are doing is far better and helps one to remember the code! Also, a lot of the frameworks do only have very slight variations which can be a bit repetitive though do have the bonus of only including a few new things each time to "learn". So I'm left feeling pretty mixed and a bit frustrated at the teacher's general impatience.
