Course Description
** From the GameDev-tv team who has taught more than a million awesome students on Udemy **
Make your own cinematic moments using Unreal Engine 4's Sequencer Tool.
Sequencer (which is included with the Unreal Editor - no additional download necessary) is a powerful editor which allows you to add tracks and animate everything from your cameras to your characters to your world.
In this course you will be able to do the following:
Create your own non-interactive cut scene which is triggered from gameplay.
Compose interesting camera shots and animate your cameras as if you were Steven Spielberg's personal camera operator.
Create movement and flavor in your levels by animating world events to take place as the player moves through your level (explosions and landslides anyone?).
Create simple gameplay systems such as allowing the player to open doors when they run near them.
Create animation sequences and render them to movie format so that you can make your own short films if you so desired.
And along the way we'll talk about cinematography theory such as the different types of shots you can create or the various ways to move your camera, including creating camera rails and camera cranes.

The course is very practical and interesting. Provides the basic technical tools and foundations for a very wide area of the cinematic world that chooses the Unreal Engine as a leading tool in advanced virtual productions. I really enjoyed learning from Rick and the way in which he enthusiastically conveys the learning process. Thanks and looking forward to continuing this journey :) Asaf.

Course is still in progress but tis excellent so far. There is a little bit of coding via blue prints but it is nothing overwhelming for those who are "coding averse" (me for instance...) Overall the instruction is great, easy to follow along and yes you will be able to create cut scenes that are similar to what you see in games. I would love if in the future they created another Unreal cinematic course perhaps one that is a bit more advanced than this current course (what was left out of this beginner course etc...) for those who really want to dive deep into cinematics in Unreal. Still great course overall.

Rick is fantastic! He make the lessons very fun to watch and engaging! Unfortunately at some points he goes a bit too fast (although not impossible to follow), and, my main con, he tends to do things off screen, which in some cases left me wondering for hours why was I not achieving his same results if I did literally the same that he did (for example when the character in the sequence was passing some stairs, until I realised that he moved some of the points off screen). I'm all up for challenges, but I prefer to clone first exactly the same steps that the instructor is doing both to make sure that I understood the topic as well as to have a reference for when I start my variant if I get stuck or don't remember something. For that reason the rating will go a bit lower than what it should have been, since the course is in general pretty good!

Wasn't going to write a review but since the Instructor responded I'm more inclined to do so, shows that they care and still communicate after the course has been up for a while. This course is great, if you want an introduction to Cinematic Design or just add some functionality to your game with Sequencer, this course tells you all the fundamentals so you can go and play by yourself while feeling confident. Really great length, well explained. The GameDev.tv team always knocks it out of the park in regards with the Unreal Courses. This is a must if you want to expand your knowledge in Unreal.

Really great course. Out of all the UE courses I've taken, this has been the most helpful for me as I'm mostly interested in creating AEC type projects, so its been a great resource to come back to and I've finally been able to create projects on my own after completing this course. The only feedback I would give is the course perhaps needs a bit of a re-structure. I think it would have been better to keep the 2 parts separate & include more camera work in the first part. I found it odd that we were in the second project, then all of a sudden we went back to the first project to do the open door & moving platform. And the first 'reveal' type project we created a scene but there wasn't really any camera work involved. I think it would have been helpful to do more there like showing us how we can incorporate that security camera type vision into a cinematic. Anyway, I highly recommend this course to everyone, you will learn skills that can be used in any project

This was a great course overall. I knew that Sequencer could create cinematics, but after taking this course I can see so many additional ways to add interactivity into a game by using Sequencer! This course takes you from doing a few basic animations right up to making a short sequence you can export as an actual high-def animated movie. I definitely feel very comfortable working in Sequencer after taking this course. The only thing that I had an issue with, is that they don't go much into detail from the start about navigating and using the Sequencer controls; they just dive right in. Sequencer is a powerful tool, but it's also temperamental. For instance, it doesn't like it when you try to manually set individual xyz coordinate key frames from within the Sequencer controls, unless you do it a very specific way. I got stuck on this early on, and just assumed there was something wrong with my computer or my Unreal install. I lost a LOT of time messing with that, and I think that could be avoided if they maybe added an orientation section getting you more acquainted with the Sequencer tools before you start trying to make movies with it. That's a small complaint though. Overall, this is an excellent introduction to Sequencer.

This course is an absolute MUST HAVE for everyone who wants to learn how to create own cinematics in UE4. The instructor shows so many tricks and techniques, at the end you're able to create your own cinematics. English is not my native language, but the instructor shows and explains everything in such a way, it's really easy to understand what's going on and how things works. Personally, it's one of the best courses I've bought so far on Udemy. 11/10 !!!

Over all good course, I did have toruble with the tutorial speakers verbose speaking, flourishing just about every sentence. took a few times to get through the basic camera section as he shows complicated ways with out really explaining what happening. Took several times and slowing his speech down to 3/4. then after all that , shows a VERY basic and simple way of doing it... arg.... all in ll the infos here, just takes a bit to filter out the flourish speech...

I work as a video editor for a games company, but so far all the games I've worked on were in lackluster proprietary (in-house) game engines. I'm learning Unreal now to be able to make videos for future games that will potentially be build in the Unreal engine. So far, this course has been very clear, precise and fun to follow, and whilst there are some things that I already know or understand (like the principal of keyframing, using curves and interpolations, or camera settings) I've learned a lot by playing around with a Drongo!
