Course Description
**This course is tailored for beginners and Advanced Developers**
Android Jetpack Compose is a new way of building modern android apps in android app development.
The Software Development industry is moving away from the Imperative Approach of building apps - where developers were required to write a lot of boilerplate code, navigate through inconsistent APIs, and hard to maintain code to build simple mobile apps.
With Jetpack Compose, building Native UI for the Android platform is more effortless, concise, consistent, and less code.
Jetpack Compose is the new modern toolkit that gives Android developers a simplified and accelerated way to build Native UIs on Android - with this toolkit; developers can build android apps with less code using Kotlin!
Jetpack Compose brings a paradigm shift in Android development - we now describe the UI instead of specifying the steps to build a UI. With Jetpack Compose, development time is accelerated as we can iterate fast with live previews while developing User Interfaces in Android Studio.
With Jetpack, creating slick animations and using Material Design is a breeze because the toolkit is powered by the Android platform APIs and intuitive Kotlin APIs.
This course brings you up-to-speed developing apps with Jetpack Compose and Kotlin.
You’ll be learning from the basics of what a Composable function is to how to handle state in Compose, and how to build full-fledge android apps that leverage the full power of Jetpack Compose and Kotlin.

I already have a good level of familiarity with what has been presented, but I believe it would be beneficial if the instructor could explain a bit more about what is being done or what is happening. We have covered several topics so far, and for someone without much familiarity with the Android platform, programming, and Android Studio, they will certainly be left confused about the information and options shown. I hope these points will be detailed in the remaining course videos.

5 stars for the amount of material and the coverage provided. I had to fix a lot of bugs and update a lot of code to the latest Material 3 version. For the apps using a database, there is a bug when you delete all items. Deleting the last item won't be updated on the screen. For the reader app, the code downloads every single book in the collection. Of course, this is not a practical approach. You can update the app with: FirebaseRepository(queryBook = FirebaseFirestore.getInstance() .collection("books").whereEqualTo("user_id", currentUserId)) The above snippet will immensely improve performance. Thank you for introducing many APIs and other Jetpack components. Overall, great coverage for one course. I have learned a lot. Thank you.

course is good, but problem is android gets updated so fast that you would end up debugging and finding better functions all the time, so course could really be better if gets help from latest updates. other than that author tried his best to explain, some part was done fast, but that is also because of vast nature of android , there is so much and he cant cover everything and hence students should find fix for their problems and further explanation on their own . also material 3 would really help

I'm now 2/3 through the course. The first 1/3 was great, the rest far less so. Overall the course is OK. It will help greatly if you have some experience with programming already - especially a modern object oriented language like Java, Kotlin, Swift, etc. There are some caveats - the course appears to be now two years old and you will find that things have changed. In particular, some of the function calls in Compose are different. In addition the Coil library has changed. I found it extremely useful to have GPT-4 on hand to quickly answer my queries when I became stuck - indeed, I think this is *must have* when using a slightly outdated course. The instructor is clear and concise, although there have been many instances where he just brings in something without explaining it. Even with my previous 30 years of programming experience (but not in Kotlin) I had to ask GPT-4 to explain what was going on. Kotlin has lots of stuff that is just "done that way" (to reduce typing and boilerplate code) and the instructor needs to be a little more careful; many students will not understand. It is an easy mistake to make. I suppose it is churlish to mention this, but there is one glaring mistake in an early section: the instructor claimed that the order of two consecutive lines in the code are executed in reverse because he didn't seem to understand the code he'd just written! Lines of code are executed in order, not randomly - if they were then nothing would work. To suggest otherwise is very confusing for beginners and I'd suggest correcting that part of the video as soon as possible. There are many examples of creating overly-complicated components or using the wrong component (eg: in the JetTrivia app, using a button instead of a Box and thus having to switch off clickable, etc). Various things are just left incomplete in the lesson, but maybe the instructor completed them in a non-published lesson (JetTrivia again - no checks are made on the answers, yet the instructor demonstrates by selecting the right answers before pressing the Next button). I also found the use of magical values and magical code annoying - that's not good practice. Please use proper constants (not "multiply by 0.005" when you can just calculate a percentage from score/total) and please explain code you are using, not just type stuff lines and mumble a few words about how that's needed. Otherwise this is a reasonable course but I would have reservations recommending it to a novice. I look forward to completing it, but I think I will have to look elsewhere for better explanations of some of the components like Hilt. [My comments are from two years ago. I had to retake the course. Much is changed and the whole course needs an update. That said, this is till a good course and I was a little too harsh in my original review. Updated from 2.5 stars to 4 stars, even though it needs a major overhaul.]

I recently took a course on Android Jetpack Compose on Udemy, and I must say, it's one of the best courses I've taken on the subject so far. The instructor covered all areas in-depth and explained the concepts clearly and concisely. The course was well-structured and provided a step-by-step approach to learning Android Jetpack Compose. One of the best things about this course was that it was worth the money. The instructor provided a lot of value for the price, and I felt like I got my money's worth. The course covered everything from the basics of Android Jetpack Compose to more advanced topics. The only problem I faced during the course was my own focus and ability to complete it in a timely manner. Overall, I highly recommend this course on Android Jetpack Compose to anyone who wants to learn more about the subject. The instructor's teaching style and approach make the course accessible to beginners and experts alike, and his passion for the subject is contagious. I give this course a rating of 5 out of 5 stars.

The teacher is good and explains things in a understandable manner. I'm giving 4 stars because at some points he repeats stuff done in other videos, and by "repeat" I mean he literally does the same things twice, like rewriting the DataOrException class which was previously done in the very same app. I guess that'e an editing issue that went overlooked, but I saw this another time too. Also, all videos lack links and references to resources unlike any other course I've followed.

Amazing tutorial all through! Paulo took us through the Kotlin fundamentals for complete beginners, before we embarked on building up to 6 Android Apps with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. He explained Android concepts really well, including networking with Retrofit, Dependency Injection with Dagger and Hilt, Firebase Authentication and FireStore data persistence, Room database, and many other concepts. I would certainly recommend this course if you want to learn Kotlin and Jetpack Compose.

This is a must have course if you want to learn Jetpack Compose from the ground up. The instructor Paulo has a great way of explaining details and brings you from beginner to building impressive full fledged applications. The course is fully up to date with the release version of Jetpack Compose. The course is long but if you put in the time, you'll be able to write a fairly comprehensive Android Jetpack Compose application. This is the UI technology going forward and expect it to eclipse earlier ways (xml) technologies in the near future. I highly recommend this course to anyone serious about learning Jetpack Compose.

Great course! Paulo is simply brilliant. Unfortunately, I haven't finish the course couse of some issues with uploading lectures in the last stage of the course. However, it has been fixed now, but in the meantime I lost all my progress as I changed my pc. That's not the reason not to give a 5 star rating. Paolo is the best teacher I've seen at Udemy and he deserves this. You will not regret anything if you take this course!

Mr. Paulo is a great instructor. I like the way he is teaching. I bought his Android development course in Java and was absolutely amazing. He is very good at android technology and explain each and every topic very deeply. I bought few courses for android development but didn't find any proper course. In both courses, nice and clear accent, very good communication, doesn't feel that course is moving very fast and teaching every topics in depth. I observed that he really wanted to share his knowledge and educate students honestly because I found some instructor trying to make money but Paulo is just very honest and great instructor i ever found on Udemy. You will not waste your money after buying this course. I do have 1 suggestion for Mr. Paulo that it would be great if you can add few more intermediate level topics and build app on that. Thanks.
