Course Description
AWS Serverless is probably the quickest way to build a very stable REST APIs that scale to serve millions of users. A very simple Mock API can be created and deployed in minutes. An API that uses AWS Lambda compute service will take longer but how much longer will depend on the business logic that you need to write.
In this video course, you will learn what is REST API and how to create one using AWS Serverless Services.
You will learn in detail how to use Amazon API Gateway to create REST APIs, and AWS Lambda Compute Service to execute business logic. The course is designed for absolute beginners, so you do not need to have any experience with AWS Serverless.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
Create RESTful API endpoints,
Build and deploy API with AWS SAM,
Validate HTTP request body and request parameters,
Transform HTTP request body into a different model,
Transform HTTP response JSON into a different one,
Deploy APIs into different stages,
Perform Canary Release Deployments and shift traffic between different versions of APIs,
Publish multiple versions of Lambda functions and shift traffic between these functions,
Document and Export REST API,
Implement User Sign-up with Amazon Cognito,
Learn to use Cognito Authorizer to control who can access your API in Amazon API Gateway,
Implement custom Lambda Authorizer that validates JWT,
Secure API endpoints with API Keys and learn to configure requests Throattling and Quota,
Unit Test AWS Lambda functions,
Build CI/CD Pipeline using AWS CodeCommit, AWS CodeBuild and AWS CodePipeline developer tools.
If you want to learn how to build REST APIs quickly, without starting, configuring, and managing any servers, then this course is for you.

The UI is from 2021 and today is end of 2024. The UI changed and it is not reflected in a course. I need to navigate between two versions to understand how it works. Author speaks extremely slow. I listen to his lectures on 1.5 speed. Other than that so far so good.

Though, I haven't completed the course, AWS CI/CD part is still pending but I would say it's a fantastic course! The course is well-organized, with clear explanations and practical examples. The instructor is knowledgeable and makes complex topics easy to understand. Perfect for anyone looking to deepen their skills! Highly recommended. Few parts need updates e.g. deploying api gateway using open-api, AWS console upgrades etc.

Nice explanation of each topic. The trainer has great voice and already knows where people might get confuse so he covers that topic properly. He made the learning so easy, though I am at very beginning of the course but I am sure I am going to learn a lot.

It was an amazing experience, it was easy to understand.

I learned a lot of practical examples in AWS and Java from a lot of variety of topics: Api Gateway, Mock API endpoints, Aws Lambda, Cognito user pools (create, login, authenticate, validate), Aws Lambda Authorizer, CodeCommit, CodeBuild and CodePipeline. I highly recommend this course for Java developers. I suggest to the instructor to add some notes to the AWS Cognito section, since the UI has changed a log. However I was able to replicate all the examples.

Sergey is one of the Best instructors on Udemy! He is master of his art and above all is a gifted individual who knows how to teach and guide a complex subject into smaller and easy to understand bits. I love his courses, that simple!

Instructor is very good at explaining the concepts. This is a good Introduction for serverless architectures using lambda. It could have been much better, if integrated with some database like DynamoDB.

It is a realy good course, very good explained a showen. A little bit outdated, so it makes it a bit harder to follow, but the owner of this course always answers the questions in the questions section. I can recomend it.

Really loved the hands on experience - you get to practice a lot of AWS services like KMS, API Gateway, Cloudformation, Cognito, and Lambda to create a working REST API, including a lot of hints about request transformation, data models, security, ... It was quite fun in the end, strongly recommended to any person who wants to create serverless APIs in AWS with Java - the title is just what it is :)

Just thought I'd drop a review here and say that this is a really good course if you're studying for your AWS Certified Developer exam because most of the topics on the exam are related to API Gateway, Lambda and Cognito. Having the hands on here is valuable for understanding those exam questions. There is no Java coding in the exam, but there are exam questions on specific details (like JWT claims) that are covered in the course.
