Course Description

Welcome to my iOS 14 Course! If you're looking for a course that is fun and gets straight to the point, then this is the course for you. Apple released a TON of new stuff for developers at WWDC and this course will take you though everything you need to make awesome iOS 14 apps.

Other mega courses on Udemy offer 40+ hours of video content, but I wanted to create a course that was more manageable and didn't include any fluff. In each video I dive straight into the topic, and don't waste your time going over things that you don't really need. I only focus on the essentials, and I give you hands-on practice so that you can easily master the things we are learning!

This course is designed to be taken over a two week period, with 1-2 hours dedicated to learning each day. This course is easy to commit to because you won't get overwhelmed with a mountain of content, and you don't need to quit your day job to learn how to code!

Over the past four years I've taught over 200,000 people how to code, and I am a self-taught programmer so I know what it feels like to start from scratch. I care about your learning, but even more importantly... I care about you! I know your time is valuable, so I promise not to waste it.

Apps we create:

  • Currency Converter

  • Emoji Dictionary

  • Daily Journal

  • API/JSON App

iOS 14 Topics:

  • Widgets

  • App Clips

Hi! I'm Nick, and I love to code. About five years ago I decided that I wanted to learn to code, but I had limited access to programming resources, and I was getting frustrated with all of the YouTube videos and online tutorials out there. I experimented, struggled, and definitely failed a lot, but I finally got the hang of it, so I decided that I wanted to change the way that people learned to code, and I started teaching. My experience as an online student has directly influenced my teaching style, because I know what it is like to be in your shoes.

When Apple announced their new programming language, Swift, in 2014, I made my big online teaching debut and created the internet's first Swift course. Since that time, I have become a full-time online instructor and I now have courses not only in Swift, but also in iOS, Android, Django, Kotlin, Python, HTML, Blockchain, etc. I have also created five iOS apps from scratch that are currently live in the App Store and are being used by thousands of users worldwide.

I love sharing my excitement for coding with my students, and I try to make learning as fun and as easy as possible. Thanks for being part of my coding community!

I'm so impressed that within a few hours I have learned so much. It is testament to the instructors approach to teaching. He's clear and concise, so the concepts are easy to pick up, the order is logical - plus - his enthusiasm is infectious! He makes me laugh regularly, and I know this will sound silly - but I haven't grown sleepy, which I generally do after an hour or two of listening to most instructors - and when i'm sleeping I am not learning ;-) Great course

Fantastic course. Nick explains the Swift programming language and Xcode very clearly. I appreciate that the IDE quirks weren't cut out of the videos - it really helps to see some of the common gremlins in Xcode, to see the steps involved in troubleshooting. I've been developing in C# and JavaScript for almost 20 years, but Swift and Xcode are a totally different world - I'm excited to start using them, and I feel like I'm prepared to get into more advanced topics now, and get some apps built.

I loved this course. I loved that the very first thing you learn is how to download Xcode - this truely is for absolute beginners. Then you get straight into creating an app, and unlike a lot of other courses, only then does Nick go over the theory, when you have a context for it so it makes sense. Nick is an excellent presented / teacher. I can't wait to take what I've learnt and apply it to my own apps. Highly recommend.

The course is good for a beginner. All fine. The Apps cannot run in the real world. The Apps need to read data from a screen and that is not offered. Also there is no support!

Estou a gostar da forma como decorre a formação, clara e muito eficaz. Gostaria no entanto de ver explicado alguns conceitos relacionados com as declarações, como por exemplo: var textLabel: UILabel? { get }.

I'm a Junior Java Developer (1.5 Years) and this was my first course on iOS / Swift programming and with xCode. Nick really explains things clearly, step by step, and in a calm way. He goes straight-to-the-point, each video is not too long, which makes it much easier to learn. I've bought the course on Friday and I've just finished it. I really liked the experience and will continue developing my skills on iOS programming.

I had taken a different course before this, and got a little lost. This is clear, concise, organized in a meaningful, memorable way, and above all, interesting. He explains many of the code elements as he's implementing them, which is very helpful, but there are still some he doesn't explain. The only suggestion I would have, at this point, is to explain what those items are, so we can understand the full context a little better. I would still give the course 5*--it is exceptional!

Goes too fast for beginners. Pacing is good at first, then accelerates to the point where one gets lost. Too bad, as the instructor is excellent in the way he teaches.

Nick is great! I've bought a few courses from him. He's very good at explaining what is going on with the code he writes and walks you through the thought process; some people A.K.A college professors are very bad at this. Nick, on the other hand, makes learning iOS development fun and more approachable to the average person. This is also a good course for those that are coming from other programming languages such as C# (me) and JavaScript. 5 stars!

By Dale L Puckett on 11/12/2020

This is an outstanding course! I was able to build all the apps and learned a lot. I took it as a review of the UIKit way of doing things before jumping into SwiftUI with Nick's latest course. Nick is an excellent instructor and keeps the programming process light and friendly. I highly recommend it to anyone who want to learn or review iOS UIKit programming. Nick also reads the Q&A's and responds quickly. This is very helpful.
