The course strikes a very good balance between theory and practice, with the examples provided illustrating this effectively. At times, the instructor jumps back and forth between topics a bit too hectically, making things seem somewhat chaotic. Overall, however, it is a must for any music beginner looking to learn more.

Some suggestions to the course. Include a short segment of 7th (4 note chords) based on diatonic chords, and then show as the foundation for the 4 different voices in counterpoint. This will then be used to introduce the orchestral arrangement by expanding the 4 voice basis.

Thank you. This was a very good presentation of harmony from the perspective of chord progression. My background is in the Palestrina type of classical harmony and figured bass type of strict rules. I found quite a bit of liberation in this course. Thank you!

I am about 1/4 of the way through this course. It maybe starts off a little rudimentary but he's surely got a wide variety of students. It does build after the first few lessons and the patterns of available major and minor chords are helpful. I am excited about this course and look forward to completing it.

This course is complementing all of the other courses I have taken with Mike. Given that this class is about harmony, which lends support to one’s theme, it is fitting that I am taking this course to help and support all the others. I will take my time with this class, because it is deep and thorough.

Mike continues to be the best teacher of composing/arranging I have found. He is clear in discussing principles and follows with examples to reinforce his points as he does in his Emotions course. As a former teacher, I give him an A+

Very easy to follow. Even if you do not play the piano, this tutorial helps in generating good chord progressions in any DAW. Furthermore very well explanation on definition of chords (very helpful if you ever want to learn how to play the piano as well). Only point of critique (adressed to udemy, not Mike) would be about the subtitles. There are unfortunately still alot of errors. I would recommend to generate those manually.

Wow. I am in love with this course and in love with Mike! I am a complete newbie, and am yet to buy a DAW/iPAD, but I feel that I can already compose symphonies after watching this. This is course is not only essential for composing, but also so important for understanding music in general. Worth its minutes in gold!

Pas tout à fait, je pensais apprendre comment enchainer les accords. Mais C'est quand même très intéressant et bien présenté.
