I love how he explains what he's doing; the forced legato, the modulation, selecting the lower notes, invert, shift i; all of these things are new to me, even though I've had three teachers teach me music production. I've already learned more in the first 32 minutes of this course than the past 2 years making music in Logic Pro; for a much much less price than what I paid a teacher per hour.

This was what seemed to be a complete tutorial on the basis of orchestra string composition. The teacher is very knowledgeable on all the details of applying the specifics in string technique. The problems I had were in pronunciation. His accent is rather strong and I would need to go back to ask, what did he say here or there. And the closed captions were hilarious. As CC tried to interpret his words they posted some of the funniest interpretations. For example when he said Ostinato....CC would post Austin Auto. One other thing I discovered was that I would need to learn definitions first, all of the musical terms such as Staccato, arpeggio, allegro...all of them. But I will say I sensed the enthusiasm of the teacher and he had passion for what he was teaching.

I have taken many courses on music theory, composition and arrangements. Mike is by far the BEST. He is extremely precise, well prepared, and uses many "to the point" examples. I have never learned so much so quickly from one teacher. Mike, you are truly a gifted teacher, composer, and mentor. Thank you so much.

Mike does an excellent job explaining a LOT of aspects of string arranging that would have been much harder for me to piece together via multiple searches, on the internet. I didn't 'get' Mike's presentation skills, initially, but no I'm thinking 'WOW!,' continually, as I progress through the lessons. Highly recommended. I look forward to learning from all his other courses. Yes, he really IS that good. Very clear and concise -> inspiring. Easy to listen to and follow. Thank you, Mike!

I have thoroughly enjoyed Mike's course. I knew nothing about orchestral strings but loved listening to them. I now have a better idea of how to incorporate them into my songs. I think Mike did an excellent job. I also appreciate that Mike actually answers questions in the Q & A section.

This is my 11th course from Mike that I enrolled and completed. I even repeated 2 of them from start to end totally. There are 7 more that I grabbed during discount campaigns etc and yes, a big fan here! :) Mike is a very good lecturer and his courses are very encouraging for beginners. The contents are definitely well-designed and easy to follow; well done Mike! Surely recommended.

In general I've achieved what I expected from this course. The most important aspects of string orchestral music are made quite simple to understand. I definately plan to take some more of Mike's courses.

I've never come across someone like Mike who has taken me by the hand and spelled out the basics of orchestration in such a simple and lucid way. I will be going through this course again and again until it really sinks in. Thanks, Mike, for developing a priceless course for aspiring musicians who don't yet have much experience.

I have to watch the Course on the lowest resolution setting because the video doesn't load otherwise. so I can't get the full experience. I love what im learning, but its hard to really see the changes he's doing with strings and other instruments. But the content is amazing. I have fast internet too and can load and with YouTube videos on the highest resolution setting no problem. I don't understand the issues with this video.
